one of the most beautiful sounding and looking Martins out there! I used to knock the all mahoganies as the low bar for Martin, but I've discovered how natural the tone is and how great they are as a value. I don't think you can beat the D-15 for your money - also love any of the 0-15s as well like you, Jarvis! We hear tone the same, I know you love the D-18 too like I do. I have a 2019 and it's my favorite guitar!
I was just thinking the same thing. I bought a DRS1 back in 2012, and the frets are completely worn out. I needed another acoustic and was not about to shell out the big bucks for another Road Series or one like the one in this video. I had a cheaper X Series 000 that I picked up used, and I really like the 000 size. I recently purchased a Martin 000CJr-10e. For less than $700, I was amazed at how well it sounds and plays. Eventually, I'll refret the DRS1. However, the new Jr Martin has become my go-to acoustic.
@@mohb.4728 they all have one tone bar only that’s why it sounds so open ..if you are in asia get a dry box or dehumidifier and keep it at 55% RH and you will have a winning kick Rear guitar
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Thanks for the quick and informative answer. Is it really true that the top of the d15 m can not handle heavier gauge guitar strings ? Becouse I think that mahagony , being a hardwood, should handle the missing tone bar or is it still too weak ? And wouldn't it be a major flaw constructionwise ? at 1:45 you recommend to lower the action in order to relief the stress on the top. Why is a higher action stressing the top more and how is a lowering in the action achieved, with lowering the bridge or adjusting the truss rod ? I'm just asking because I'm thinking of buying this guitar that sounds nice, atleast when you play it.
Love the sound of sweet sweet mahogany ! This guitar reminds me of the 000 15 SM.... They are great instruments as well... smaller than some... but huge sounds... and light as a feather ! Love those Martin guitars i do !!!!
There's nothing like a mohagany Dreadnought. This model is a good one. I have an Alvarez AD66SHB that has a solid African mahogany top with laminate back and sides. The laminate material is all mahogany. The sound is quite good.
it’s hard .. the martin has a very unique tone which is organic yet woody but with only one tone bar below the X Brace.. the top is prone to swelling in high humidity areas..
Never thought I would hear Jarvis say something in one of his reviews like, "Something suddenly happens...somebody gets sick, somebody gets diarrhea...you know?" 😂😂😂
This is my favorite Martin model.
Thank you for your channel/content .... I too love all the beautiful guitars and appreciate your demos :)
My pleasure! thanks for tuning in
I bought the martin d15m 2 years ago . Its awesome . Love me some martin d15m sound .

For a time I owned a Martin DRS1. Loved the sound and smell of that Sapele wood, I’m sure this one smells as good as it sounds too!

Thanky for the information about the Instability of the top.
Does the Streetmaster dreadnought have the same problem with the tone bar?

Great review. Love the 15 series.
That tone
Martin eliminated x bracing of the d15 and also the hardcase, did you checked the x bracing?
I have this guitar I haven't had it long but I love it
@@stevenhinton2759 good for you make sure you keep it dry at 50% Relative humidity and it will sound so woody and punchy
@@TheGuitarSpaSingapore Those D'ADDario packs or Boveda are a guitar saver. They have high humidity models for regions like yours.
@ doesn’t really help much

@@teleguy5699 buying a dry box to fit 3 guitars in there or a dehumidifier
Yes, I have the little 0-15M and these guitars sound great. Lightly braced and I suspect Martin uses hide glue.
no they don’t as they supposed to
cut labour time and they won’t use it on this

Which would you choose between this and a Yamaha FG5?

Thanks for the reply. Is it responsive when played with bare fingers?
