  • VICE China took a deep dive into what it's like to be transgender in the Asian nation, meeting five trans men and women living across the country. They shared stories of battling depression, staring down hate, and coming to terms with their identities-a process culminating in a fight for gender equality.

    Amazing how humans find it so important to police the gender of others. Like the "best friend" who said dying of cancer would be preferable to a sex change. You must have a really boring life if that's what keeps you up at night.

Their humans, like u. Simple as that. Ur so focused on their outside, but try focusing on their soul instead. Their personality

      Rembrandt Thanks for speaking up your support; it’s always appreciated. As a transgender man, I would say you could be an even better ally by referring to yourself as a cisgender man/male instead of biological male. Trans people are often invalidated by using biology as an excuse; instead of calling a trans woman a woman, she’s sometimes called a man because “biologically speaking they’re male”. (As a side note, this isn’t even necessarily true for trans people who’ve medically transitioned as hormones and surgery alter some of people’s biology. But the point is, biology shouldn’t matter especially considering not all trans people can physically or financially transition medically and that doesn’t make their identity any less valid.) The word ‘cisgender’ is just a better way of distinguishing the difference between people who identify with the gender they were assigned at birth (cisgender people) and who don’t (transgender people). But I don’t speak for the entire trans community so take advice you hear with a grain of salt 🙂✌️

    Every time I watch a documentary about people who identify as transgender, I remind myself that I am lucky to be born in a body I am happy with. I can only imagine the pain that comes along with being a person who is not satisfied with the body they have. But, then I think to myself, who am I to say what type of body someone has to have to be happy? It's very complex issue for so many people, and I am grateful to have documentaries such as these to help enlighten and educate me.

    Honestly dear people, whether you support transgenderism or not, you're not personally affected by a man dressing like a woman or talking like a woman, and vice versa. This all remains far outside of your private realms. So long as someone's behaviour does not harm you or anyone around you, why would you spend so much energy on it?

    • @jildou1411
      @jildou1411 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      For example, some people choose to only dress in black. Some people speak loudly, while some speak as little as possible. How is dressing and talking like the opposite sex any more harmful than those behaviours?

    The world is changing, people's mentalities are changing, wether people accept, understand the whole change, they must be aware that this is happening and it is coming to stay, people are scared of changes, when something they don't agree or understand, affects them in ways that they simply prefer to deny it instead of expanding their minds and evolving with it.
    We can't blame anyone, people will be people, we can help by informing and being nice, kind and respectful to one another, that is a great start.

      I never in my life -- and i've been on youtube since it's inception in 2005 -- have I ever heard of someone thinking downvoting is cool except for you, but what's even stranger is how annoyed you actually are which is obvious by your fake laughs since you needed to open with a "lol" and close with a "lmao". Thought you'd get people angry with that one?

      It's because they need to vent their low self-worth. When they have an innocent group to dehumanize, it psychologically boosts their crippling self-esteem. It's common for people who are hurting to hurt others who are hurting.

    Oxford Dictionary: Either of the two sexes (male and female), especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones. The term is also used more broadly to denote a range of identities that do not correspond to established ideas of male and female.

    You know there are actually a few governmental supported transgenders in China. As a matter of fact one of them, Jin Xing, is a Dance artist and a host of a very popular TV show, it tells something.

  • @ascent8487
    @ascent8487 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’ve always wanted to know how a trans person feels about this. I’m afraid to have a trans child because I’m afraid of the choices I’ll need to make. With a gay child, no problem. You just keep loving them. There are no choices to be made. But with a trans child, you keep loving them, that’s the easy part but you also have to make choices that will affect the rest of their life. If you don’t allow for transition soon enough, will they be miserable? If you do it too soon, will they regret it and be miserable? I’d never forgive myself if they lived to regret transitioning. I’d also never forgive myself if I made them wait and their whole childhood was filled with pain because of it.

    I knew a lady who dealt with the fact of her son's sexuality in a remarkable way.She told him to become quietly effective by ignoring the hate directed at him and instead love himself .He acted as if all the hate around him didn't exist,completed his education and is doing very well in the same culture,which is still largely intolerant.We can all learn from such examples.

    I believe that we should respect other people's thoughts and feelings, mainly because its humane to do so and because its not like they affect us in anyway, unless they are part of one's life. But y'all have to admit that mutilating or altering something on your body to make you feel good or comfortable just doesn't seem right, especially if there wasn't anything wrong with it in the first place.
    Change your clothes, grow your hair, fake a voice, but dont get mad if others dont see you the way you see yourself.

    • @cjo4210
      @cjo4210 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sure, but who are you to define what 'seems right' in someone else's life?
      And yes, others may see you different and discriminate but the world is changing and becoming a more accepting place-others are just going to have to catch up or face the fact that others don't exist in this world to make you feel more comfortable.
      If this video made you uncomfortable or even angry, that means it's working. That's how change happens.

      @prettylittleravenna 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    When talking about transgender in China, how can you not mention Jin Xing the super popular transnsgender host, who has millions of fans, I can't find any other transgender star in Western country close to her level. Vice always shape the story in a way it wanna be, the holistic truth doesn't matter.
