    When I first got my bonding policy it was $100 for each $10,000 that I wanted. It wasn’t bad at all. And I actually had to use it once. I had an employee that stole a clients diamond ring. The way we found out that she was guilty of it was they had a camera in their bedroom. So she was caught red-handed. Even though I didn’t do it, it was so incredibly embarrassing. Now I do intensive background checks on all of my staff.

    Where in the world do you find business insurance or bonding for $30/month? Nearly every quote that I've received expects you to pay $300-$400+ upfront. The lowest amount was over $100. That's pretty high for a brand new cleaning business with no clientele and no guarantee of steady revenue. Factor in all other startup costs and you're at or near $1,000 total. More for people who invested in advertising, marketing, unique or expensive supplies, accounting and certification courses.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We use Next Insurance (paid link nextinsurance.sjv.io/LPzzYZ) this link will help you hone in on the services you offer and the proper type of coverage you need. It will also give you instant quotes, and once you sign up, you will get an electronic COI (certificate of insurance) to show customers that you are insured.
      To start out, you're looking for a general liability policy. They do offer other policies for small business, and can grow with your business. Make sure you click on the monthly payments not annual premiums. Otherwise, you will pay hundreds of dollars upfront. Does that make sense? 😀

    • @kwp9270
      @kwp9270 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AskAngelaBrown Yes. It makes perfect sense and I chose Next over the weekend. I still have to pay a separate $100 for bonding before I can start. A license wasn't required in my state but I'm registered, insured, certified and have most of my supplies and necessary documents. I never expected this to be easy so it's another reason to stay physically fit. I'm going to start out on my own and when the business grows I'll be ready to hire cleaners so I can mostly focus on the marketing, advertising, accounting, payroll, orders, inventory etc. Your videos have been very helpful and I appreciate everything that you do. Three questions: Once the business is going steady, how do you factor in overhead costs on an invoice? How can you take advantage of tax deductibles as an LLC? When is the proper time to file business taxes?

    Hi Angela! Thank you so much for these videos. I think you are amazing! I have a question. I've just recently started cleaning and I have 2 customers. I am waiting to pick up a couple more before I get insurance. I did a quote for a couple and they asked if I had insurance, and I told them not yet. He asked me to sign a waiver that if I broke my back at their home that they would not be liable. Is that a normal request? I understand if I wrecked their floors, or fridge etc I would be responsible for that. It's something I had not thought of. Thank you!

    Fantastic explanation thank you. I have two questions, so theft is not covered under a limited liability policy? The bonding component is what only covers theft? Also you paying the bonding means the bonding company pays for the item and then you have to pay them back?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes to all of your questions. Theft is covered under your bond, which is an extra rider added to your insurance policy. If you (or your covered employee) are found guilty of theft, the bond pays the restitution and you pay the insurance company back on a payment plan. Does that make sense?

    What about liability? So, if I'm correct, there general liability, property damage, and the bond which covers theft?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, your general liability will cover accidental property damage - and what constitutes an accident is up for debate. Make sure you understand through your insurance agent how care, custody, and control work. They often don't cover damage due to ignorance or negligence. You're expected to know your chemicals and what surfaces you can use them on.

      Being declined for insurance while re-establishing your credit can be frustrating. Here are some options to consider:
      *Research alternative insurance providers specializing in small businesses or startups.
      *Seek assistance from insurance brokers who can help find suitable coverage options.
      *Join industry associations or trade groups for access to exclusive insurance programs.
      *Consider general liability insurance as a starting point for essential protection.
      *Work on improving your credit by paying bills on time and reducing debt.
      Remember to shop around, provide detailed business information, and compare quotes. Best of luck with your credit program and entrepreneurial endeavors!

    Angela, i have a question about promotional before after pictures. Is this something that's just okay to do (without) permission? Or would i have to get permission through a contract or verbally before i do it?

    Hi Angela, I just started my house cleaning business, a potential client asked for copy of insurance and bond, I have insurance, however i do not feel comfortable giving client copies of insurance before I starts the job .
    Do client have the right to request for copies of insurance?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your question! Yes, clients typically have the right to request copies of insurance and bond as part of their due diligence when hiring a cleaning service. It's a common practice to provide these documents to build trust and reassure clients about the security and professionalism of your business

    Is there insurance if an individual gets injured?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, talk to your insurance company for the type of cleaning you do. Find out if you're covered under your general liability policy or if it would be worker's compensation.

    Can you recommend any good insurance companies?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Any reputable insurance company that sells general liability insurance can help you. Make sure that the coverage you get covers the types of homes you clean (You'll need more than 1 million dollar coverage if you clean 3 million dollar homes for example. But if you don't wash 2 story exterior windows or carry trash off the property, you might not need certain types of riders on your policy.) Also ask if they do payment plans. Most insurance companies will break your premiums into monthly installments so you're not paying it all at once.
      Also ask about their workers compensation packages - you'll want a company that can grow with you as you hire new employees.

      +Lore Beth Being insurance protects both the homeowner and the House Cleaner. There are very good reasons for a house cleaner to be insured. It’s just good business. 👍
