    I genuinely think this video was made for me. I used to win 99% of rumble matches i played. Even played with the likes of She's My Nerd, and consistently got more kills than him in Trials. I took a long break from Destiny and am only just getting back into it. Problem is im no where near as good as I was. This video has really opened my eyes to what I need to do to get back on top. Thankyou Dragoon!

    Thank you for this video. I play Destiny quite a bit, I'm also a middle school percussion teacher. I showed this video to my class today because the advice you applies PERFECTLY to honing skills on a musical instrument. Thanks also for keeping the language clean so that this can be used in classrooms. Awesome video, Thanks!!!

    A question I often ask myself when playing PvP is "What am I doing wrong?" I think that looking inward will help you improve quicker than looking at what's happening around you. I agree with 100% of the points made in this video. Cooling off away from the game is one of the best pieces of advice anyone can get. Works in real life too.

    That was one thing I liked in the Halo PvP; almost everybody had mics and communicated. In Destiny you need to actually change the setting if you want to be automatically put on the team voice chat(most people haven't bothered with that).
    That's so true, you can't get emotional if somebody T-bags you. Getting angry just makes you reckless and you end up being a more available target. By all means return the favor if you kill the player that bagged you, but don't make it your only goal.

    I grinded Supremacy for a Lord Shaxx Crucible Bounty, and for my rewards(from crucible matches, the bounty itself, and ranking up:
    -20/20 AMR7
    -Zero-Day Dilemma
    -Matador 64
    -Eyasluna
    -Hopscotch Pilgrim
    Also I basically carried my teammates several times. I even got first place twice in a row thanks to my SUROS Regime :)

    I stumbled upon this video whilst smoking some marijauna. and I must say I do in fact find this video helpful. I can definitely relate to some of these reasons. I don't know about Destiny being complicated, it could be so much more complex. I feel like Destiny wasn't finished when they made it. but anywho. I enjoyed this video, man. i play Destiny on a daily basis. I'm about to watch the Patroits game. have a splendid night :3

    Good video. I agree with all your points. I wish I had seen a video like this a long time ago. I really sucked at PVP for a long time. I stuck with it and figured out your points on my own. Now I'm pretty good most of the time. I've got my K/D ratio comfortably above 1.0 and climbing. It took a while. I still play team matches solo all the time though. Sometimes you find players that know what they are doing, so I just follow their lead. Sometimes, I'm the only player that knows what I'm doing and I get trashed. It's all good though. Even if a match is going badly, I try using it as a learning tool.

    Wow... I was expecting this video to be about not always using the Doctrine because it limits you to other weapon archetype's but what you said was very inspiring for a 37 year old gamer who is probably it bit too competitive but won't back down.

    • @JacobMichael75
      @JacobMichael75 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think he meant Destiny is complicated because you have point and shoot, whereas in other games you have to......oh wait nevermind.

    • @SlaineReigns
      @SlaineReigns 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      obviously you have no experience in higher levels of play. In the high lvl destiny gameplay which is referred to as "sweats" a lot of battles are fought in the air, while double jumping, gliding, and lifting, there is a lot of usage of aerial superiority like floating in the air while escaping to juke people out. That by itself is already complicated and thats what he's pointing out.

    • @MrElkin85
      @MrElkin85 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Think you are getting confused with a complicated game and skillful play. Destiny as a game is very basic, that does not mean it can't be played skillfully.

  • @ceasar0279

    I completely agree with most everything you say. The only caveat I would throw in there is comfortability with weapons. I keep the meta weapons around for sure but I can honestly say the weapons I use most are not meta weapons. I think you shouldn't be afraid to try things outside the meta because you may find that hidden gem that can elevate your game. My go to weapon right now is The first Curse in PVP. All great advice though. Keep up the great work.

  • @PennytheWiseVids
    @PennytheWiseVids 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Spot on, particularly with the "take a break" point, that's probably the most important.
    Instead of going with the meta though, it's important to play with what you're comfortable with. I for example, cannot use a Doctrine to save my life. Guns that I love and perform well with however, are NLB, Jade Rabbit and Thorn (don't judge XD). Playing with the guns that you enjoy using makes it easier to do well with, even if they're not "in the meta". Not always the case, but it certainly helps :)
    Love your vids, your subs (for the most part) are pretty cool people, and hope you're all as pumped for Rise of Iron as I am :D

    • @BBKDRAGOON
      @BBKDRAGOON  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I don't think Doctrine is that top tier anymore. Grasp of Malok, Hawksaw, pdx 45, tlw, mida, eyas and hawkmoon I think represent the top tier right now.

  • @ShownSolid
    @ShownSolid 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video made me realize how often I would use my Fabian Strategy. I loved the gun! Medium rate of fire to the fastest ever depending on location of enemy really gave me an edge. But recently I moved to the hawksaw because I knew it was good. Little did I know, how good it was. I could gun fight anyone, even snipers, but the only down side I thought of was I couldn't make it go full auto. But there was one game of elimination where my team went 5-0 but I solo queued into the game. I love having sunbreaker, but sometimes I switch to striker because I know how I can use it in situations where I get too much gun fire and could die. But I don't follow the meta mainly because I sometimes don't have the weapons. Like how everyone used universal remote or doctrine of passing(adept). Like I still don't even have a jade rabbit or a mida.

    I am pretty new to Destiny PVP, and the more I play, the better I get. My first match, I was decimated and it really discouraged me. SomI kept to paroles, story, and strikes to improve my reaction and timing until I grew more confidence. I get really nervous in PVP, since you have those hand fulls of elitists that will message you and berate you for 'sucking.' And they get mad when they have newbs on their teams. Well, sorry, but, we all gotta start somewhere! lol

    I would agree with you saying that rumble is good for practice but at the same time how are you supposed to practice gunfights when all you find is people running shotguns. which I guess it's a good game mode to find out how ti challenge shotgunners

    • @BBKDRAGOON
      @BBKDRAGOON  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aggressive shotgunners exist in all other playlists though, they aren't exclusive to Rumble. Positioning is super key to stopping shotgunners, and I still die to them very often. Rumble though is rock solid for training gunfights imo

    • @spazmatron3605
      @spazmatron3605 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      BBKDRAGOON I use to never use shotguns in rumble I used to be in the top 1% of rumble then all of the sudden I have to use shotguns in rumble to even compete for some reason but I guess it happens. I think the main reason I stopped doing so good is that I stopped using primary such as the last word as often in crucible.

    • @spazmatron3605
      @spazmatron3605 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      BBKDRAGOON but in overall crucible I agree that shotgun usage is everywhere because it's not that hard to just surprise some one in close quarters such as a sniper.

    • @BBKDRAGOON
      @BBKDRAGOON  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I wont lie, I don't enjoy how far Universal Remote and party crasher can kill from, I'm hoping the RoI mixes things up a bit because I'm totally with you. I use shotgun a LOT in 6s now, just to try and stop the bullrush players who charge with a shotgun & jugg

    Just wanted to add my two cents from someone that is seeing things from a different angle.
    1. Run. Use your radar as much as humanly possible. If you see red around you and you are alone at that moment, run like hell and keep jumpng and if you can, cut your jump/glide mid jump. Do not stop running until you feel you are safe and see your teammates coming.
    2. Know your play style and learn to adapt it to the game you are playing. I am a support player. I play team based stuff solo and my role is to assist as much as possible and kill as I can. I will force the other team's players to move from a spot in order to send them running towards people flanking them.
    3. Know the maps. This let's you shoot and back up from a charging enemy or to run like hell in the smoothest way possible. (You touched on it with sniper alleys and whatnot)
    4. Learn how other people are playing to use it against them. People are predictable. Even the best players. Yes, they might have some tricks up their sleeves, but most people tend to follow patterned behaviors. Let them use those behaviors and when they do, smack them hard.
    5. Stop looking at k/D as your skill level. I have played against and with people that do not engage. They camp, use a sniper and good scout rifle and come out with huge k/D numbers and while sniping requires a level of skill, it does not show your skill at PVP. I would grab someone who ran around destroying people over a sniper with the same k/D simply because campers are boring to me. On my team or not, give me an aggressive player who knows how to wreck the joint and I will have more fun.
    6. If you are playing control, capture the control points. If you do not have two zones down most of a match, you lose.

    I've been playing destiny since year one, however crucible was never touched to begin with. Its only been the past year and a half in which I've actually started religiously playing PVP. There was just something so satisfying about landing my first clean headshot with a sniper, or clutching a 3 v 1 (not that it happened a lot back then lol) it just kept me wanting, NEEDING to play more! So here I am, a year and a half in, I'd say my Crucible skill level is on the spectrum of above average. Don't mistake this for being big headed as its far from it. For some reason I feel like I'm not doing enough, I like playing with my team mates regularly and I'm truly happy for them when they improve/ have spectacular games, however I find myself constantly envious of them when they do so. I feel I've hit a wall in my skill level and as much as I love the game I just can't bare to play crucible religiously at the moment. I hop on at least once a day for a few hours or so after work or before I meet up with my Girlfriend on my days off, just to maintain my current skill level and sweets new . However I'm always let down due to lack of improvement. My primary aim and movement is what I personally think isn't allowing me to progress as I fell they're both inconsistent, some games they're top tier and others they're not so.. Basically what I'm trying to say is that have you ever been in a similar situation? If so how did you deal with it or what approach would you recommend I take? any feedback would be appreciated, excellent video by the way (as always) thanks.

    2:31 and THAT is why sniping is kinda bullshit in this game right now. you should not be able to keep ads and have any semblance of aiming when getting continuously nailed with fire, especially autorifle fire

      @WrenchMonkey91 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DaveLP i shouldn't be hitting a sniper with a heavy machine gun and still have him swing around and headshot me in between my shots hitting him, and yet that kinda bullshit happens all over the place.and none of your remark is relevant to my comment at all, i didn't say anything about shotguns or fusion rifles or coutnering snipers

      +Zach Stevens No they dont u dont even know what u are talking about how i said destiny Pvp is at the Time a SHOTGUN META so what does tell u that ? Shotguns are still op, 80% of the destiny community plays shotgun and u say no Shotguns are not op m8, universall remote? not op ? A God roll party Crasher? My only point in that is that shotgun take way more less skill then using a shotgun.

    • @WrenchMonkey91

      DaveLP i didn't say sniping was OP or the meta or anything, i was just commenting on the lack of flinch or some kind of ads force out when shot, and that it's a bit stupid. so please stop trying to act like a know it all, or badass or whatever it is you're doing, because you're missing the point and just look like a douche. and a wrong douche anyway, sniping hasn't gone anywhere in this games competitive* scene and i'll be willing to bet well over half the players in the tournament on the 13th are using 1000 yards, the basically easy mode sniper the game give everyone for free.

    Here are some well learned tips he did not include. You have to be a hard target to hit and a good shot. You have to know when to fight and when to evade. You can't ever let your opponent predict your movements. You should peek out of corners to get a picture of the space ahead and to potentially draw out fire of a camping sniper you can't see. If you know some one is waiting for you to come out of a door you can just go around or wait for them to come to you. If you see someone is going to come though a door on your radar fire your shots just as you think they would come out or just fire to suppress them as you advance.

    I use the khvostov in pvp sometimes on my max titan(298 whilst using khvostov) as it is actaully a very good auto rifle.

      +CrypticLunatic He's not wrong. It's a good auto rifle. The exotic khvostov coming with the new expansion will be quite nice.

    • @xXNightBatsXx
      @xXNightBatsXx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MightyAndroid56 ARs aren't the meta anymore, especially not the Khvostov. I doubt the exotic Khvostov will be good. In my opinion, the best ARs right now are the Monte Carlo type and the exotic Khvostov has neither of those modes.

    • @SadSackGaming
      @SadSackGaming 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      CrypticLunatic there are many that disagree with you. Like me. The fast firing ARs are still viable, but so are the slightly slower, more impact ones. It all depends on your play style. Of course, there is a lot of MIDA running around.

    Very interesting points indeed. Destiny is quite a complex game more than many give it credit for, sure it has it's share of problems but at the end of the day there is more good than bad in this game. I will give your advice a shot and see what happens. Nice Doctrine of Passing by the way I hope to get one myself but unfortunately time on year 2 is running pretty short...

    great vid man! I liked and subscribed. I honestly can't agree enough, but for my pvp slump, it was a little different, like I do hella lot of trials and sweaty matches. but past month I have really felt that I've been missing my sniper shots, my hand cannon shots way too often. and I started to shy away from them, and use different weapons to keep my self from realizing that I was actually doing bad with the style that's my bread and butter. additionally with skill based matchmaking we would just get matched with some out of the world snipers and I sometimes their skills intimidated me into not trying to compete long range, when that is my forte. lately I realized, who gives a fuck lol. I should play my style, I should play the way I want to, even if I get sniped multiple times, I should keep going for that, and eventually I'll start landing my shots. it may have also been the fact that before sbm I would get paired with less experienced players and crucible was honestly easy, and I guess it got to my head that I was really good lol. Now I just decided I should never consider myself great, it's a recipe for disaster. Now I I'm going to just keep believing I need to get better, even when I start to make strides in my game. the key I think, is like you said, don't give up, you will make improvements, and do not be discouraged or impatient, keep a positive outlook and keep trying to get better. One thing I started doing is saving videos of my trials or any sweaty pvp games and going back and watching for any mistakes I did. Dissect your games and see what you can do better. hitting slumps in PvP I feel is like working out, you go to the gym and go nuts for workout sesh and next day, you can't lift like you did the day before, but when the soreness is gone, you're able to life way more than you ever did, and I honestly feel like it's a very similar relation in this regard. Thanks for the tips man, really helped. good luck to anyone trying to get better :)

    I'd also add, above all have fun and don't take it too seriously. It's just a video game. We've all met at least one toxic player who just takes this too damn seriously and thinks losing is the end of the world. No one likes to lose but understanding you can't win them all is key

    Great tips overall, but the most frustrating stuff in Destiny is definitely lag: losing to red bar gods, entering super laggy games, or having your evening ruined because of lag during ToO, this is a super common and it's the most frustrating thing in this game. Something that simply taking a break doesn't fix, because you didn't lose for a lack of skill or terrible SBMM tuning, but because of something completely out of your control, and that tilts me beyond belief.
    I'm a pretty chill dude and never broke a single gamepad in my life, nor a game disk, but Destiny lag during literally all major activities (Crucible, ToO, Raids) made me uninstall the game and literally break the disk in half out of rage last month, after the nth time i got fucked because of that.
    IMHO Bungie needs to work super hard on their netcode to guarantee stable connections between users, or straight have some sort of active check that restricts people with very shitty connections of competitive activities. With how the game is now they try to make 1 dude happy by ruining 11 people's experience, and all their efforts so far have been in vain, considering no one knows which activity has damage referee enabled, and even if it's already enabled for the entire game it's not doing much, other than make people miss perfectly aimed shots, or make random body shots into headshots.
    tl;dr i love destiny, but excessive lag is ruining my experience.

    I agree with this video except when it comes to solo play.
    I got destiny and had ZERO friends when i joined, but i played days worth of pve, because i thought i would suck at pvp. my first game i got 25 kills 4 deaths. I enjoyed it and i kinda kept up with that kd (it's a .89 with a 91% combat rating) now i have friends and., unless we're going against try hards, we just about always score 1, 2, and 3rd place.
    On the subject of current OP gear. I kinda agree. Everyone hates me for using last word and getting 20+ kills and stealing every kill, but now I'm really good with all handcannons (except omolon idk why). then i used Mida, became really good. used zhalo, uhhh yeah. things got really crazy with 30+ kills. I was already a good shot gunner and with side arms
    And practice does NOT ALWAYS make perfect. I used a sniper for half of my summer break. (2 1/2 months) I never got any better. If anything I got worse.
    But love the vid. make some more of this quality and you might get a sub.
    [end spiel]
