早川多美子 I would have thought the same, had I not heard Lorraine Hunt Liebersons rendition. Her entrance is so dolce, it's sweetly sexual. Still, I haven't checked out Kathleen Ferrier . . .
My favorite singer in this fach. She was super hot when I was a kid, and defined for me what a modern opera singer was. (This is also my fach, so she was my muse for sure.)
I know this is about a plane tree but I adored singing it once upon a time & used it as the processional at my wedding. A lovely change from "Hear Comes the Bride" (no offense if you chose this 'though)

This song is so beautiful and also simple, just talking about the beauty of a tree. So I actually think this piano accompaniment is more fitting than the original orchestra accompaniment. ❤
I used this rendition of Ombra Mai Fu to commemorate the cutting down of a huge, magnificent but fatally diseased maple tree. When Ms Battle floated out that last high note I was so moved, and felt it was a fitting tribute to the tree’s long life. I guess the tree crew thought I was crazy but that’s ok, 😌
