Such adorable couple. Welcome to Spain! ❤
Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for watching! We can’t wait to dive into the culture and discover more!
Thanks for sharing your experience! It's always surprising what people don't know about other countries. Spain truly has an impressive transport system! We loved every minute of our visit! Thanks for watching and have a very Happy Christmas! 🎄
I love AVE and the silent carriage, where noises or phone calls are not allowed so you can read and relax.
Absolutely! The silent carriage really is a haven for those who want to unwind and dive into a good book. We rode on a silent carriage in Italy. It was a great experience. Thank you so much for watching. We really appreciate it.
Hearing the train intercom in your video makes me feel I'm there. Thanks for sharing your marvelous travel by train in Spain!
I had no idea there were train lounges. You learn something new everyday. This was such a clean and well kept train station. The hotel lobby in the beginning of the video was so detailed. Our lobbies are very generic in comparison.
And have you noticed the toilet doors from floor to ceiling and without gaps?
Thank you so much for watching!
Traveling by train would be such a neat experience. I wish we had more passenger trains in the USA.
I know what you mean! We love traveling by train, and we hope to see more passenger trains in the US in the future. Europe knows how to do train travel for sure! Thanks for watching!
Spain has the second largest track in the world. With four high speed trains companies . More than 3500 km of tracks
@@pablofernandez3284 Mucho más de 3.500Km.
@@pablofernandez3284 Nearly 4200 km as of 2024
I never thought it would take six hours to travel between Malaga and Barcelona, even though taking a high-speed train. I find the train so cool. The lounge and the train give me an airport vibe.
Six hours from Málaga to Barcelona, with an intermediate stop in Madrid; not Madrid to Barcelona. Just Madrid to Barcelona is about 2 hours.
As mentioned, 6h is from Málaga, which almost doubles the distance.
The direct train (that they took) does not stop in Madrid but goes through Madrid as it's the best option, but it uses a bypass and do not stop a Madrid Atocha train station. It does, however, makes quite a few stops along the way, which ,makes the duration longer (a nonstop train would have taken about 5h). A nonstop ride between Barcelona and Madrid (620km/375mi) takes 2h30.
Thank you so much for watching! We loved the train and found it to be a wonderful way to travel. Being able to see the countryside from the window was relaxing!
You are really enlightened pro travellers. I love your eye for detail.
Thank you so much! We really strive to capture the beauty and uniqueness of every place we visit.
Renfe is the Spain's national state-owned railway company. There are private companies operating too in Spain. But how important it is to have public services, right?
Railway infrastructure belongs to ADIF, it's a public company and is paid by railway companies. While national state- owned railway company is RENFE that competes with private companies like Italian IRIO and French UIGO, but only in high speed routes.
@@tofoletdecastalia2253iryo is a Spanish-Italian company. Actually its headquarters is in Madrid.
@@tofoletdecastalia2253 UIGO is the low-cost brand of SNCF and is the French public one.

Our trains could take some serious lessons in this country. Beautiful - thanks for sharing this experience.
In the video, they are travelling with the Spanish railway company Renfe. Renfe has been awarded a concession to build what will be the first high-speed line in the United States, connecting the cities of Dallas-Forth Worth and Houston, Texas, over a distance of 386 kilometres (240 miles) that will be covered in less than 90 minutes.
Absolutely! It's amazing how much we can learn from the efficiency and beauty of train travel in other countries. Thanks for watching!
@@drxoomg Renfe is suppose to be the operator of the train but this is still a long way from even starting construction with a lot opposition from many Texans. In any case it will not be the first high speed train, it it manages to build it. The first one will most likely be Brightline west connecting Rancho Cucamonga ("LA") to Las Vegas. They already started first stages of construction and promise (although I'm nit sure it will happen) to finish in 2028 before the LA Olympics. This is more of a poor's man high speed rail as it's far from ideal rout (mostly in the median of I-15) and mostly single track which means it will reach top speeds only in very few sections but it's still high speed electrified train.
Depending on how things go even California's high speed train might start fist section operation before Texas on the Central Valley section between Bakersfield and Merced (but possibly only Madera on the first run).
That, of course, can change as the planned policy of the new Trump administration does not favor trains and all projects, including "private" ones rely on federal grants.

We found the train system in Spain to be wonderful! We REALLY enjoyed our time on the trains and would defiantly recommend traveling on them. We wish the United States offered such travel! Thank you so much for watching!
I have been able to see different countries through your YTC 😊 thanks
That's awesome! I love that you're enjoying the travels! More adventures coming your way, stay tuned!
When I was in Spain I traveled by train. Lovely experience.
Thanks for taking us along on the journey
Thank you for watching! It was so much fun and we REALLY enjoyed it!
I would love to travel on a train. Kara and Nate have had such neat experiences. I am surprised at the value for what you got. Lots of early mornings on your travels!
Absolutely! Train travel offers such a unique way to see the world, and Kara and Nate have really inspired many of us with their adventures. Early mornings just add to the excitement of the journey! Thanks so much for watching!
9:00 No, that's not champagne... is cava.
Yes, we knew it was Cava. Champaign rhymed with train so we were just trying to be funny. I fell in love with Cava while we were in Spain. I am still drinking it whenever we can find it in the United States. It is so good! Thank you so much for watching. We really appreciate it. 😊
Absolutely! The AVE network really is impressive, making travel so much quicker and easier across Spain. Thank you for watching!
Never heard of a train lounge, looks interesting
Thanks for watching!
Uk is beginning to strengthen train systems to connect other parts of Europe.
This is beautiful to watch

This is all good and well, happy to see you enjoyed the Spanish high speed train, but nothing of what you tell in the video is a hidden secret. We have been using high speed trains for the last 30 years, it’s well known by everyone.
Thank You so much for watching! We appreciate each view!
Thank you! Spain is such a beautiful place to explore, and I'm excited to share the journey.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It’s a topic that definitely deserves more attention and discussion.
You paid $120 for 2 routes: Málaga>Madrid which is 2.5 hours, and Madrid>Barcelona which is 3.5 hours, but in a single ticket path.
Average Joe buys with months in advance for $30-40 with cheaper companies like Italian Iryo, and change trains in Madrid.
Normally people don't go from Málaga to Barcelona in train, because the Mediterranean high-speed railway is still quite a few years away to be finished, and take a plane for that.
iryo is a Spanish-Italian company with headquarters in Madrid.

, the "Jaume Serra" cava (champagne) that you drank on the train is made in my town (and has a very good price).
I (Mrs. Karnes) fell in love with Cava in Spain!!!! We knew it was Cava, Champaign just rhymed with train! LOL Interesting that it is made in your hometown! Thank you for letting us know this. It is a great reason to be proud of your town! Thanks for watching! 🥰

Carlos, thank you for watching. Mrs Karnes and Me certainly thought prior to arriving, and once we got there, that Spain is a wonderful, thriving country. We found the people, facilities and infrastructure to be of the highest quality. And we look forward to a future return. Please consider subscribing for more great travel content.
HIDDEN? AVE high speed trains have been available for over 30 years. Now try the low speed train from Madrid to Extremadura and let us know your experience...
The train lounge was more of the hidden for us since this was a new experience. We would love to try a low speed train in Spain. We took a few local, low speed trains in Italy but haven't done that in Spain yet. Thanks for watching. We REALLY do appreciate it.
Are you paid by someone to go against Spain denouncing one lack and ignoring 50 succeses?
@@rosendosolesainz5059 Yes, and I'm making a of money out of that 🙂
Thank you for watching. We appreciate it.

Choo choo train chuggin down the track, got to travel on never coming back, woo - ooh got a one way ticket to........ Barcelona, such a beautiful horizon..... wow, Neil Sedaka to Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe. Last time I saw you folks Mrs Karne was gracing a Scottish loch. Lookin good dudes.
@@pepelemoko2820 Pepe! So good to hear from you. A few more countries, but still showing Mrs Karnes the good life!
What do you mean, "HIDDEN"? Why, or how, would we be hiding railways and trains?
Also, are there no trains in USA?
The Train Lounge is what we referred to as hidden. We had never been in a train lounge. Train travel is not as nice or widely used in the US. We love coming to Europe and being able to ride such nice trains. Sorry for the confusion.
@@mrs.karnesandme aah, the Sala Club :-) for premium tickets and frequent users. Good job locating that one, it is indeed comfy and nicer than the general lobby. Nice video, you seem a sweet couple enjoying everything.
As for the US, I guess it makes sense to fly everywhere, as distances to cover are so much greater over there.
When you show this to other foreign people of USA, o UK, the question is.. How is posible that one country so poor that Spain, have this high speed, This station, modern and very well organice....? The mistery of Spain....probabily, because Spain have the price of the electricity lowest in Europe....Other mistery?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for watching! It’s always interesting to hear how others perceive things.
Is not champagne, is cava
I knew that we just said Champaign because it rhymed with train. Trying to be funny. Thanks for watching and have a very happy Christmas! 🎄 Also, I LOVE Cava and i'm still drinking it here in the states! ❤️
All train stations in Spain are clean and organize so are PEOPLE, NOT IN USA .
PAIN IS A COUNTRY IN THE FIRST WORLD .
We have found that ALL of the train stations were very nice in Spain! It really made our experience there so enjoyable. We just loved Spain! It was our first visit and we are so happy to be able to share this fun adventure! Thank you so much for watching!
I can't understand why don't exist something like that in a country like the US...
It's definitely puzzling! Different countries have their own unique offerings and regulations that shape what's available. We would sure love it if they did! Thank you so much for watching!
We found Spain to be a wonderful place to visit and we will always have such good memories of our time there! Thank you so much for watching!
That was a disaster, France also has nice trains and it is incapable of finding a stable political government.
