Some quick math - in 2018 I bought 3 Mini Pochettes for $310 each ($930 in total) and was able to sell them for $300ea. ($900) approx 4% off of the retail price…and only losing $30 off of a $930 ‘investment’ Today the MP costs $745 (😳) to make a proportionate return in 2024 I would have to find 3 separate buyers to purchase these for $715 (4% off) each…..realistically I do not see a market for preloved shoppers to spend much more than $500. Which would amount to spending $2,235 and only expecting to get $1500 back. THIS IS NOT HOW TO MAKE MONEY! As always, Handbags ARE NOT reliable financial investments. They are fashion items that we can wear, collect and love. And if we want to maintain a healthy resale market, WE MUST resist the speculation and finance-speak of past years. It doesn't work, it's unstainable, and will leave a whole bunch of money spent (at the mall) with some poor soul holding the bag in the end....Which - to be clear- we do not want. DO NOT USE THIS VIDEO FOR BUSINESS ADVICE. you have been warned 🙂
You know a lot about *amzclothes* luxury accessories and clothes. Obviously you've done your due diligence and the comparisons to the U.S. are very rich... because of course, I live in New York. Thank you so much.
Good morning Katherine. You had a position with many skilled responsibilities. I am very impressed. Enjoyed the video. If I had lived in your state, I would have bought items from you.
Thanks! I this was my project from start to finish and relied on my very specific passion and research. My boss at the time almost got in the way and wanted to get the more expensive leather bags bc they were “more unique and upscale 💅🏽”…..I was like: “do you want to sell this stuff or what?!” I was sad to leave the industry. I really loved what I did but I just wasn’t able to find anyone that would value my skills and abilities.
What an fabulous informative video this was thank you for doing it!!!! Also love your pups and you are giving some really beautiful super 70s/80s vibes in the hair makeup and outfit selection today, you always are so pretty but today SUPER MODEL!!! Have a good weekend, be blessed, be well : )
This video was so entertaining. You are a wealth of knowledge and I love how you love this topic/these fun things! TH-cam is my fun escape. Your belmont bag stole my heart years ago; I still might end up needing to buy one some day. I can't stand those never full pouches; i dont own one but i know i wouldn't use it!
I found this really confusing. How does the 30k store credit relate to all your resales?😅 and how did that unique collection mentioned at the start of the video relate to the glazing issues and store credit? Maybe i am missing some context?
I’m guessing she bought some of these defect items on the resale market for cheap and then returned them to the LV for the store credit. Back then they would take anything that was theirs back - even without receipts for store credit.
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. Happy to clarify. The amazing Designer collection shared at the beginning of the video included bags that had been deemed defective by the brand. We purchased those bags brought them into the store the store supplied us with a credit for the full value. …. and from there, I use the credit to purchase items I was going to sell. Hopefully that helps
Could you provide more advice on how to get LV to do an exchange or provide store credit for these resin defects? I have a bag and a strap that have literally melted from this same resin issue (am happy to send photos, LV literally put my items in plastic bags as the glazing was getting all over their counter). The brand is running me through hoops, claiming the items weren't in my profile and asking for receipts. When I showed up with the receipts, they (no joke) 'offered' to let me re-purchase similar items at the new higher prices. I feel taken advantage of.
That is absolutely infuriating! 🤬 They may have changed the policy (all of this was done more than 5 years ago) but send me an email to mskwshops@gmail.com and I’ll see if I can help at all!
I’m in AZ, there are so many preloved LV shops now. Most tend to sell very close to retails d quite a few collector items for above retail. I have noticed thiugh that they only buy close to pristine items from the consignors. I think it’s still a viable market. I personally sell some items but mainly to just earn enough to fund the next bag 🤣
Thanks for sharing! I do agree that it’s still viable, the market still exists and there are buyers- but the *frenzy* is mostly behind us. Also, this video was to show the true numbers to people that used to think if they bought a high-demand piece that selling it at a premium wasn’t necessarily going to lead to the wind fall that they might have been expecting
Currently I’m doing TH-cam in the interim. But I worked 3 jobs for 10 years and have been super fortunate to take this past year off from having a traditional day job. I have no idea what’s next but I needed this break more than anything

I enjoyed watching this video and thank you for talking sense about the resale market
Thanks so much for watching! I’ve been trying to say this (without the spreadsheet) for the entire 8 years, but the truth just doesn’t get the views

Makes sense. So where did you get the damaged bags? From the LV? Or customers who bought them?
Good info…….guess thats why I buy pre-love 80% of the time.
I buy preloved 100% of the time! I always have, and I haven’t seen a compelling reason to change

Is an lv bloomsbury for 591usd a good deal? 😅
Wow! Where did you find such a great deal?
@@KWSHOPS a Malaysia secondhand marketplace! I just converted the price to usd haha

I'm lost... were you working in a consignment store at the time? Otherwise, how were you able to fluctuate the prices at will?
Yes, I was reselling everything! In case you’re new, I worked in resale for 10 years, and I share my experiences and insights here on TH-cam

Super Model!! 🙂 :-))))))))

Very insightful and informative ❤😊
I followed you for a few years and somewhat curious: what do you do now? Is it still related to resale industry?
