This show's plot progression, exposition dumps, accessory accumulation of multiple items with similar effects, the constant need for meal and bathroom breaks, and battle sequences sound a helluva lot like someone's homebrew D&D campaign with a DragonBall paint-job.
Panzy's line in Japanese is "たちの悪い" (tachi no warui), which does mean essentially the same thing. The dictionary I use translates it as "nasty, of bad character; ill-natured", but I think unruly is pretty accurate too. EDIT: Also Goku's line about raising children is a bit more vague in Japanese (Goku uses simple sentences, it's a reply to a question that can already be taken a number of ways, etc), it can be definitely taken the way the subtitles translated it, but while the word sodate (育て) means raising, it's use here doesn't necessarily imply Goku was absent like the English equivalent would does, just that he... Didn't contribute with anything very useful. They're talking about how Goku is childish and has no manners and how could he have raised (taught manners to) a kid being like that. So it could just mean that, that he didn't do that part. That's one way to see it. But, since Goku did spent a number of his kids childhood either dead or training (considering the 3 years he spent training with Gohan isn't considered "raising a kid" by societal norms even in the Dragon Ball Earth) , it's also possible he simply does think he didn't raise them because he was absent. Also reminder that Japanese society doesn't put as much emphasis on the father figure being present in the daily life of the children as part of raising them (for example, a father who works away from home and barely interacts with his kids is still very much considered to be raising them because he supports them financially. In most western societies this is seen as an absent father regardless of the money), so in a lot of ways it is more about contributing than being there. Of course, being present in the child's life is still a part of raising them and that's why what Goku says is vague and can be taken either way (didn't raise because didn't do anything useful/didn't raise because was actually absent). The fact it's treated as a joke and comes right after Panzy's talk about Goku's childishness makes me think it's more the former.
I did interpet it as him saying that "he didn't do anything useful". He was present as much as he could (when he wasn't dead ofc) but wasn't overly involved in the raising of his kids, just kinda let them do whatever and told them "listen to your mom". Which does sound very Goku to me.

@gokunenn4243 I mean, he was dead between Gohan being four and five, then in the hospital while Gohan went to Namek, then out in space for like another year after that...and then him, Gohan and Piccolo mostly trained. Then they spent under a year in the time chamber. Training. Then he was dead again for the next like six years.
For those curious about the exact math - from Gohan’s birth to age 18, Goku was dead or missing for 8.5-ish years (that we know of, we’ll see if they try and squeeze more story arcs in between existing events lol). So, almost half. With that said, I think it just means “I wasn’t involved with *that aspect* of raising them”, i.e. teaching them manners.
I understood the "I wasn't really involved" line as him saying he wasn't involved a lot, but not that he wasn't involved at all. And honestly...I can kinda see it? He definitely spent time with his sons (when he wasn't dead) but Chichi strikes me more as the one who'd take care of all the parenting stuff (changing diapers, etc).

Personally, I'm fine with the show not fully going the "stealth until it's too dangerous" route you were hoping for. Because if they did go for that, I would've rolled my eyes at it, as it would just delay the characters from reaching the first Dragon Ball. Plus, again personally, it wouldn't make any sense to keep going with that path at this point in the story. It would make more sense to attempt stealth later one, when they're in the third Demon World, and they go and try to get Dende back. At that point, they're right in enemy territory, and causing undue alarm that close could cause immediate potential harm to Dende by Gomah, so it would make sense at that point to employ stealth until it gets too dangerous.
It’s getting to the point that when Goku said “Namek” I was prepared for a “Huh? Is that where the Namekians who left the Demon Realm long ago settled? Then it makes sense that their Dragon Balls are similar because (new lore dump)”
Why is it surprising? Super literally claims he wasn't present in Gohan's birth. It's nothing new. Modern Dragonball is pretty direct about his portrayal of Goku, like him not even having kissed. It's only the fans' headcanon who try to come up with explanations to it.

Cool episode. Kaioshin is growing on me as a character. Never liked him much before. Next week looks like the best episode yet. I just hope it doesn't go downhill somehow afterwards. Also that fight against the majin cops gave me team rocket "blasting off again" vibes lol.

On the topic of this show's slow burn. I'm still really liking it. Coming from Super that seemed to jump from thing to thing and action setpiece to action setpiece. This has been a breath of fresh air. It does feel like it's about time for the show to get to the plot, and hey just in time for a big Dragon Ball fight to begin. This may have been better to have happened one episode sooner, but at this point I'm okay with that.
Missed the obvious "This isn't Dragon Ball Dissection this is Dragon Ball Plot Synopsis" joke Also, I initially loved that Goku used Shin as a teleportation beacon to avoid the Gendarmerie, until it was pointed out to me that Goku REALLY shouldn't be able to sense Shin's ki, he couldn't in the Buu saga and this is still before he learns how to sense God Ki. Then again sensing God Ki in Super seemed to be really inconsistent throughout the manga and the anime.
I hope they come back to this "Majin are unruly" line, or else I'm gonna assume it was meant uncritically as exposition, not Panzi repeating doctrine she's been fed. I've seen too many stories muddle this message, or make it a "both sides have a point" situation.
I've seen a lot of complaining about the Daima pacing, and personally I'm not really having a problem with it. They probably should have released episode 1 and 2 and the same time, it's there clearly supposed to be one episode. But maybe I'm just weird but seven (really 6) episodes doesn't really feel like a long time. Especially with the implied importance/length of each world Demon World 3 feels like the most important in terms of like characters because it's filled with the oppressed class, we've met a lot of them to some personal extent, they're all fun people. Demon World 2 feels like it's going to be super empty, because that's where all the one where every important races seems to have ditched. I can't imagine we'd have much reason to stay long, maybe 4-5 episodes. So Demon World 1 will probably get a lot of time too. There's even online about Demon World 3 being bigger than the rest. It's not like there's anything crazy we need to explore that can't be done in a few episodes, this was meant to be a side adventure after all. I feel like too many people are stressing themselves over nothing
5:46 but... Wasn't this explained when they introduced the collars? Isn't this just... A recap of the problem and it's solution? Nobody seemed surprised by it's ability to be used for tracking and I though we heard a guard say that they could do this that a couple episodes ago. Maybe I'm wrong? It felt like "about time they did something about the collar" to me.
It is very much that too and an angle I had hoped to mention, but, you know... no script. It can be a problem for multiple reasons, and it is. It only becomes an issue for them in this episode and is then immediately discarded, which is frustrating because I'd like it to be something they struggle with. And it's also explained and dealt with in a way that makes me go, "Well, if you knew about this this whole time, and you had a means of instantly destroying it, why are we only just doing this now?" So, yeah, I had pretty much the same reaction that you did.
While that's technically true, up until now they weren't technically after Pansy, and there was even a scene where her having a collar help them hide from suspicion not too long ago. So in a sense, it's only really become a problem in this episode

So about the action scene with the Kenpeitai: when Glorio shoots one of their planes down, 4 of them escape before it crashes. When Shin uses his magic to crash two planes together and they both explode, no one escapes. Did… did Shin just KILL 8 people?
Yeah I was hoping they’d take this direction with highlighting the oppression and class or caste hierarchy of the Demon World. Very happy to see it. Still not expecting much but as long as they don’t undercut it I’m fine.
Considering their goal is to overthrow a king who just "rightfully" suceeded the last, planning to give the throne to a mafia boss who they just met and just claims he would be better...I really don't see any meaningful class discorse here. The system is still in place. Third realm may get treaten better, but this is hardly a revolution. Not that I would expect that for Dragonball, but still.

The the first search for the dragon balls Goku and Bulma lose their transportation constantly. I got the sense that Toriyama wanted to draw new vehicles. They each were distinct. It made it fun. This time around I'm not really impressed with the constant switching to new, similar ships.
I agree the show explaining the collar in detail only to immediately discard it was annoying. It ended up just being a piece of trivia. But I think it's dealt with right away because they'll be leaving the Third Demon Realm soon enough so that plot point will be rendered irrelevant. As for they being forced to beat the police instead of keep tricking them, I don't have a problem with it because they all being branded fugitives now (which they repeatedly said would happen so I assume will be the case) does create a problem in that they can't use Warp-sama anymore and probably will have to find a way to use those selaed holes in the ground to move to the Second Demon Realm. So them being forced to abandon stealth to save Panzy was not only the only option left to them, it also complicates their situation, so writing-wise I have no problem with it. As long as the whole "we won't be able to use Warp-sama" thing wasn't just all talk. It's just the collar thing that is an issue. I feel they should have talked about what the collar is and does in the episode where they were stopped by the police the first time, so the setup and payoff work better. There's still some setup and payoff since we knew the collars and knew Panzy had one, but getting the detailed explanation right before it literally explodes is dumb.
But there was that scene where Panzy called her hacker friend to get a new warp PIN for the stolen ship, remember? So it seems like the plan is to still use Warp-Sama.
@@snuffysam Yeah, I remember. But Warp-sama also went out of its way to check the people inside the plane the first time they went into the Demon Realm. They brought up that being fugitives would keep them from using Warp-sama enough times I think it could go either way depending on whether the writers want to put that extra obstacle there or not.
you know, i've been thinking this for a couple of episodes...daima been feeling like sandland theme wise. which is cool, i loved the first half of sandland (2nd was ok, not bad, not spectacular but the premise was great, ramifications of not having the pillar that stops the outside from invading the inside as a necessary evil is very good).
I really thought you were going to say that the fact that Goku can do the instant transmission ruined the tension of him hiding, because it kinda did it for me. I thought they were going to do something more clever or intricate to keep Goku hidden in the ship.
One thing I find interesting is how every special ability that a Supreme Kai has, be it through ki or whatever means, has now been retconned to be Glind magic. Considering Shin knows a lot about both worlds, I wonder if he could explain any relation between ki and magic? Are they similar in any way? Are they completely different types of energy resources? Could say, Goku or even Bulma, learn some magic?
I'm not at all suggesting you do videos that you don't want to, but I'd suggest at least trying to do a weekly Daima short. I love your content and feel you are incredibly underrated and the release of a new Dragonball show is the perfect time to get more subscribers. I just think that these are time sensitive videos more so than Dragonball Dissection (although I will always prefer DBD, I'm not saying don't do DBD December). I just want the best for your channel and hope you can thrive on this platform. But you've been doing this over a decade and I don't do it at all so what do I know. I'll be here cheering you on either way. I hope Dragonball Dissection December isn't too rough for you this year.
I hope the fact they ended up fighting the guards have consequences... they mentioned that if they were wanted, they would have trouble passing through Warp-sama... Now they beat up some guards and are using a stolen ship... would be disappointed if they could simply use Warp-sama without problems

Pretty uneventful episode. First half felt terribly slow, it's the first time I was bothered by Daima's pacing. Maybe it was them facing the police again and losing their vehicle yet again...And hey, Super's Goku being a bad dad, yay... The main takeaway is Shin finally fighting and doing stuff, as well as oficially having a less stupid name originally. That's very cool. There was also no forced conflict like in the previous episode (I still don't understand why Glorio, who saw the Buu arc flashback, would suddenly doubt Goku's strength or be surprised at Super Saiyan). Next episode should be pretty exciting, I hope we finally see Goku struggle- before he starts pulling out his transformations anyways. I wonder if there is any reasoning behind the "guy with a red weapon that challenged the Tamagami 20 years ago"? Sounds ridiculously specific, but then again they died... Meanwhile Panzy has already managed to become insufferable in two episodes and I still don't understand why she's so similar to Bulma if the later is also in this story arc, so redundant. They will probably be good friends at least. Not a bad episode by any means, but we have seen much better already as well.

Well, to be fair, Goku was dead for a lot of that time. He was present for the first 4 years of Gohan's life until shit happened and he died, then he came back a year later for more shit to happen, then he wound up on an alien planet where he spent over a year learning a useful ability before returning home. Then he spent 3 years with Gohan as well as an additional year in a magic room before Gohan started fucking up with Cell, leading Goku to sacrifice himself to save everyone else and was dead for the first 7 years of Goten's life and would have remained so if it weren't for the elder Kaiōshin transferring his life from to Goku. So, to those who are in the camp that Goku is a terrible father, that line Goku said isn't the smoking gun you think it is.
I don't agree with pacing complaints but I guess mentally I'm comparing it to og dragonball and z where there was a lot of filler. But I like the paving of this story, I feel likes it flying by.
Yeah the collar thing was interesting, and the episode is titled after it. But everything else was such a waste of time, man. The teleportation trick is cool but they could've made him do it another time instead of slowing the story down.

Sadly, it's the opposite. Just look at the Super manga. They literally say Goku was not present in Gohan's birth so Vegeta can claim he is not a great father, unlike him who wants to be present at Bra's birth. They usually want to portrait Vegeta as the better father. And he probably is, *now*, which is rather dishonest.

I'm really starting to get annoyed with this show. It feels like it just keeps stalling. I like the story and the new characters but I just see so many misssed opportunities. It's the tournament of power all over again where were exspected to believe everything is fine on Earth while the heros are away. All the characters are children and we don't get to see how they are managing, are they all just going to stay at Bulma's house? I'll give GT credit on this the story did a job at explaining the state of the world and the characters before the heros left Earth.
Why would the Earth be in danger during the Torunament of Power? It's literally hours long. Why do we need to see what the characters are doing in Daima? We literally know their status. It's not different from GT.

I really wish the wish would have put the Dragon Team on equal ground with power levels. Like putting Goku and Vegeta on equal power level as Krillin or Yamcha or Roshi. It could have worked well to incorporate the non-Saiyan characters (other than Piccolo and Bulma).
So nobody going to bring up the fact Panzy is a Princess traveling with people she just meant without any body guards and without much methods to defend herself. Oh who am I kidding why even question it were talking about a series that started out with a teenage girl just traveling by herself when she is the daughter of one of the richest people in the world.

Yes, that's what nostalgia does. Making you think the OG anime had faster pacing than Daima. Like there are a lot of criticisms of the series, but the pacing? Really? Like even ignoring it was a web anime meant to be binge watched, the pacing is only slower than Super. And at the same time manages to have many less obvious filler.
@@gokunenn4243 I mean that depends. Most people don't mind if the pacing is interrupted by longer fight scenes because that is one of the main reasons that they are here. So the actual "interruption" to the pacing for them are all non story essential story stuff and not altering the status of the story fast enough. Even the by the anime filler extended Red Ribbon Army arc was 7 Episodes in already past having the previous big bad over taken by the new one, having Silver beaten and a complete setting change by reaching the snow area while also already starting the invasion on the first well defended villain base facing there first big boss in Metallic. Piccolo Daimao on its 7th episode had -Killed Krillin - A renege attempt by Goku stopped by way of beating Goku. - Introduced Piccolo Daimao -Introduced Piccolo and the non goku Heroes being both on Dragonball hunts - Foreshadowed the Mafuba - And had Goku kill Tamborin and so avenge Krillin Saiyajin by its 7th episode had: - Introduced Goku is an alien - Goku has a son -Gohan being kidnapped - Goku and his arche enemy team up tob eat Goku's alien brother - Goku dies to save Gohan and kill Radditz - Radditz warning of 2 even stronger Saiyajins that will come to gather the Dragonballs. - Set up the next few episodes of training for the attack of the Saiyajins. And a final one Freezer: - set up our heroes going to space - foreshadowing of the danger of Freezer - Fake Namek side story - Showing that Vegeta is alive and set out to go to Namek himself. For all but the Freezer arc which was still in its setup to get to Namek do the other ones at least seem to be faster in getting to the big action that most people want to see.
Lance, you're like Planet Namek, you're always number 1, at least in our hearts. Which means you need to get out of there, it wouldn't be healthy for a vampire to bathe in that much blood.
It would have been better if Panzy found away to temporarily disable it for a few hours. Also a collar that grows with you is a good metaphor for the hardships faced in a harsh soecity. Just because your trapped doesn't mean your chains will get smaller as you get bigger.
For me the swapping of multiple ships the way they have been doing it, reminds me of (in a bad way) how in the Phantom Menace (Star Wars) that they needed the part to the ship to make it work. And they then proceeded to go about getting the part in a very convoluted way that could have been trimmed down into a very streamlined way that made way more sense and saved a lot of time. More than anything, it’s the swapping of ships and the slow traveling from point A to point B that is slowing this down and not in a good way. I get that is kind of the point. But the fourth time in it’s getting a little old. However, I’m still heavily enjoying the hell out of Daima.
Agreed. Easily the worst and only part of Daima that has truly been annoying me. I have enough suspension of disbelief (is that the English term?) to buy they would need to get to the first DB on foot. I thought that's where they were going. Instead, they just keep changing ships, and easily dealing with the passwords change, so it ends up feeling like padding. It doesn't help they had to hide Goku from the soldiers twice, in back-to-back episodes. The first time wasn't intentional sure, but still.
I was a bit annoyed when they referred back to overhearing the line about finding people via their collars. Just one more way they could have handled that exposition better.

Plus, again personally, it wouldn't make any sense to keep going with that path at this point in the story. It would make more sense to attempt stealth later one, when they're in the third Demon World, and they go and try to get Dende back. At that point, they're right in enemy territory, and causing undue alarm that close could cause immediate potential harm to Dende by Gomah, so it would make sense at that point to employ stealth until it gets too dangerous.
It’s getting to the point that when Goku said “Namek” I was prepared for a “Huh? Is that where the Namekians who left the Demon Realm long ago settled? Then it makes sense that their Dragon Balls are similar because (new lore dump)”

Why is it surprising? Super literally claims he wasn't present in Gohan's birth. It's nothing new. Modern Dragonball is pretty direct about his portrayal of Goku, like him not even having kissed. It's only the fans' headcanon who try to come up with explanations to it.

Cool episode. Kaioshin is growing on me as a character. Never liked him much before. Next week looks like the best episode yet. I just hope it doesn't go downhill somehow afterwards. Also that fight against the majin cops gave me team rocket "blasting off again" vibes lol.

I'm still really liking it. Coming from Super that seemed to jump from thing to thing and action setpiece to action setpiece. This has been a breath of fresh air.
It does feel like it's about time for the show to get to the plot, and hey just in time for a big Dragon Ball fight to begin. This may have been better to have happened one episode sooner, but at this point I'm okay with that.

Also, I initially loved that Goku used Shin as a teleportation beacon to avoid the Gendarmerie, until it was pointed out to me that Goku REALLY shouldn't be able to sense Shin's ki, he couldn't in the Buu saga and this is still before he learns how to sense God Ki.
Then again sensing God Ki in Super seemed to be really inconsistent throughout the manga and the anime.
I hope they come back to this "Majin are unruly" line, or else I'm gonna assume it was meant uncritically as exposition, not Panzi repeating doctrine she's been fed. I've seen too many stories muddle this message, or make it a "both sides have a point" situation.
I've seen a lot of complaining about the Daima pacing, and personally I'm not really having a problem with it. They probably should have released episode 1 and 2 and the same time, it's there clearly supposed to be one episode. But maybe I'm just weird but seven (really 6) episodes doesn't really feel like a long time.
Especially with the implied importance/length of each world
Demon World 3 feels like the most important in terms of like characters because it's filled with the oppressed class, we've met a lot of them to some personal extent, they're all fun people.
Demon World 2 feels like it's going to be super empty, because that's where all the one where every important races seems to have ditched. I can't imagine we'd have much reason to stay long, maybe 4-5 episodes.
So Demon World 1 will probably get a lot of time too. There's even online about Demon World 3 being bigger than the rest.
It's not like there's anything crazy we need to explore that can't be done in a few episodes, this was meant to be a side adventure after all. I feel like too many people are stressing themselves over nothing
5:46 but... Wasn't this explained when they introduced the collars? Isn't this just... A recap of the problem and it's solution? Nobody seemed surprised by it's ability to be used for tracking and I though we heard a guard say that they could do this that a couple episodes ago. Maybe I'm wrong? It felt like "about time they did something about the collar" to me.
It is very much that too and an angle I had hoped to mention, but, you know... no script. It can be a problem for multiple reasons, and it is. It only becomes an issue for them in this episode and is then immediately discarded, which is frustrating because I'd like it to be something they struggle with. And it's also explained and dealt with in a way that makes me go, "Well, if you knew about this this whole time, and you had a means of instantly destroying it, why are we only just doing this now?" So, yeah, I had pretty much the same reaction that you did.
While that's technically true, up until now they weren't technically after Pansy, and there was even a scene where her having a collar help them hide from suspicion not too long ago.
So in a sense, it's only really become a problem in this episode

I like the idea that some have floated about that, Goku being kind of direct and focused on the most recent happenings in life, was thinking about Goten, rather than both of his children, when he said he wasn't really involved.
I mean, you can try to headcanon it that way...but the intent is pretty clear. Super literally reveals he wasn't present for Gohan's birth, for whatever reason.
So about the action scene with the Kenpeitai: when Glorio shoots one of their planes down, 4 of them escape before it crashes. When Shin uses his magic to crash two planes together and they both explode, no one escapes. Did… did Shin just KILL 8 people?
Yeah I was hoping they’d take this direction with highlighting the oppression and class or caste hierarchy of the Demon World. Very happy to see it. Still not expecting much but as long as they don’t undercut it I’m fine.
Considering their goal is to overthrow a king who just "rightfully" suceeded the last, planning to give the throne to a mafia boss who they just met and just claims he would be better...I really don't see any meaningful class discorse here. The system is still in place. Third realm may get treaten better, but this is hardly a revolution.
Not that I would expect that for Dragonball, but still.

The the first search for the dragon balls Goku and Bulma lose their transportation constantly. I got the sense that Toriyama wanted to draw new vehicles. They each were distinct. It made it fun. This time around I'm not really impressed with the constant switching to new, similar ships.

I agree the show explaining the collar in detail only to immediately discard it was annoying. It ended up just being a piece of trivia. But I think it's dealt with right away because they'll be leaving the Third Demon Realm soon enough so that plot point will be rendered irrelevant. As for they being forced to beat the police instead of keep tricking them, I don't have a problem with it because they all being branded fugitives now (which they repeatedly said would happen so I assume will be the case) does create a problem in that they can't use Warp-sama anymore and probably will have to find a way to use those selaed holes in the ground to move to the Second Demon Realm. So them being forced to abandon stealth to save Panzy was not only the only option left to them, it also complicates their situation, so writing-wise I have no problem with it. As long as the whole "we won't be able to use Warp-sama" thing wasn't just all talk.
It's just the collar thing that is an issue. I feel they should have talked about what the collar is and does in the episode where they were stopped by the police the first time, so the setup and payoff work better. There's still some setup and payoff since we knew the collars and knew Panzy had one, but getting the detailed explanation right before it literally explodes is dumb.
But there was that scene where Panzy called her hacker friend to get a new warp PIN for the stolen ship, remember? So it seems like the plan is to still use Warp-Sama.
@@snuffysam Yeah, I remember. But Warp-sama also went out of its way to check the people inside the plane the first time they went into the Demon Realm. They brought up that being fugitives would keep them from using Warp-sama enough times I think it could go either way depending on whether the writers want to put that extra obstacle there or not.
you know, i've been thinking this for a couple of episodes...daima been feeling like sandland theme wise. which is cool, i loved the first half of sandland (2nd was ok, not bad, not spectacular but the premise was great, ramifications of not having the pillar that stops the outside from invading the inside as a necessary evil is very good).
I really thought you were going to say that the fact that Goku can do the instant transmission ruined the tension of him hiding, because it kinda did it for me. I thought they were going to do something more clever or intricate to keep Goku hidden in the ship.
One thing I find interesting is how every special ability that a Supreme Kai has, be it through ki or whatever means, has now been retconned to be Glind magic. Considering Shin knows a lot about both worlds, I wonder if he could explain any relation between ki and magic? Are they similar in any way? Are they completely different types of energy resources? Could say, Goku or even Bulma, learn some magic?
I'm not at all suggesting you do videos that you don't want to, but I'd suggest at least trying to do a weekly Daima short. I love your content and feel you are incredibly underrated and the release of a new Dragonball show is the perfect time to get more subscribers. I just think that these are time sensitive videos more so than Dragonball Dissection (although I will always prefer DBD, I'm not saying don't do DBD December). I just want the best for your channel and hope you can thrive on this platform.

Easily the best part of the episode. Same with them fixing how dumb Shin was a name.
Pretty uneventful episode. First half felt terribly slow, it's the first time I was bothered by Daima's pacing. Maybe it was them facing the police again and losing their vehicle yet again...And hey, Super's Goku being a bad dad, yay...
The main takeaway is Shin finally fighting and doing stuff, as well as oficially having a less stupid name originally. That's very cool. There was also no forced conflict like in the previous episode (I still don't understand why Glorio, who saw the Buu arc flashback, would suddenly doubt Goku's strength or be surprised at Super Saiyan). Next episode should be pretty exciting, I hope we finally see Goku struggle- before he starts pulling out his transformations anyways.
I wonder if there is any reasoning behind the "guy with a red weapon that challenged the Tamagami 20 years ago"? Sounds ridiculously specific, but then again they died... Meanwhile Panzy has already managed to become insufferable in two episodes and I still don't understand why she's so similar to Bulma if the later is also in this story arc, so redundant. They will probably be good friends at least.

Well, to be fair, Goku was dead for a lot of that time. He was present for the first 4 years of Gohan's life until shit happened and he died, then he came back a year later for more shit to happen, then he wound up on an alien planet where he spent over a year learning a useful ability before returning home. Then he spent 3 years with Gohan as well as an additional year in a magic room before Gohan started fucking up with Cell, leading Goku to sacrifice himself to save everyone else and was dead for the first 7 years of Goten's life and would have remained so if it weren't for the elder Kaiōshin transferring his life from to Goku. So, to those who are in the camp that Goku is a terrible father, that line Goku said isn't the smoking gun you think it is.
I don't agree with pacing complaints but I guess mentally I'm comparing it to og dragonball and z where there was a lot of filler. But I like the paving of this story, I feel likes it flying by.
You should call this series Dragon Ball Daima-section, or are you gonna save that for when you cover Daima in DBD?
Yeah the collar thing was interesting, and the episode is titled after it. But everything else was such a waste of time, man. The teleportation trick is cool but they could've made him do it another time instead of slowing the story down.

I like the story and the new characters but I just see so many misssed opportunities.
It's the tournament of power all over again where were exspected to believe everything is fine on Earth while the heros are away.
All the characters are children and we don't get to see how they are managing, are they all just going to stay at Bulma's house?
I'll give GT credit on this the story did a job at explaining the state of the world and the characters before the heros left Earth.

Like there are a lot of criticisms of the series, but the pacing? Really? Like even ignoring it was a web anime meant to be binge watched, the pacing is only slower than Super. And at the same time manages to have many less obvious filler.

Most people don't mind if the pacing is interrupted by longer fight scenes because that is one of the main reasons that they are here.
So the actual "interruption" to the pacing for them are all non story essential story stuff and not altering the status of the story fast enough.
Even the by the anime filler extended Red Ribbon Army arc was 7 Episodes in already past having the previous big bad over taken by the new one, having Silver beaten and a complete setting change by reaching the snow area while also already starting the invasion on the first well defended villain base facing there first big boss in Metallic.
Piccolo Daimao on its 7th episode had
-Killed Krillin
- A renege attempt by Goku stopped by way of beating Goku.
- Introduced Piccolo Daimao
-Introduced Piccolo and the non goku Heroes being both on Dragonball hunts
- Foreshadowed the Mafuba
- And had Goku kill Tamborin and so avenge Krillin
Saiyajin by its 7th episode had:
- Introduced Goku is an alien
- Goku has a son
-Gohan being kidnapped
- Goku and his arche enemy team up tob eat Goku's alien brother
- Goku dies to save Gohan and kill Radditz
- Radditz warning of 2 even stronger Saiyajins that will come to gather the Dragonballs.
- Set up the next few episodes of training for the attack of the Saiyajins.
And a final one
Freezer:
- set up our heroes going to space
- foreshadowing of the danger of Freezer
- Fake Namek side story
- Showing that Vegeta is alive and set out to go to Namek himself.
For all but the Freezer arc which was still in its setup to get to Namek do the other ones at least seem to be faster in getting to the big action that most people want to see.

Also a collar that grows with you is a good metaphor for the hardships faced in a harsh soecity. Just because your trapped doesn't mean your chains will get smaller as you get bigger.

For me the swapping of multiple ships the way they have been doing it, reminds me of (in a bad way) how in the Phantom Menace (Star Wars) that they needed the part to the ship to make it work. And they then proceeded to go about getting the part in a very convoluted way that could have been trimmed down into a very streamlined way that made way more sense and saved a lot of time. More than anything, it’s the swapping of ships and the slow traveling from point A to point B that is slowing this down and not in a good way. I get that is kind of the point. But the fourth time in it’s getting a little old. However, I’m still heavily enjoying the hell out of Daima.
Agreed. Easily the worst and only part of Daima that has truly been annoying me. I have enough suspension of disbelief (is that the English term?) to buy they would need to get to the first DB on foot. I thought that's where they were going. Instead, they just keep changing ships, and easily dealing with the passwords change, so it ends up feeling like padding.
It doesn't help they had to hide Goku from the soldiers twice, in back-to-back episodes. The first time wasn't intentional sure, but still.
