    When it's summer you should go to the MCN festivel as it's touring AND camping so you can use your saddle bags and bungies for that trip too ;) really improvise and there will be good footage too.

    Damn that Yamaha Blaze saddlebags are the best for me because of how minimalistic the mounting kit is. If you're not touring or not using the saddlebags you can even easy remove it and that metal "stick" without tools needed. Currently SW Motech do have the same exact saddlebag for anyone that's looking for the same saddlebag.

    A 2 hour ride, that's what me and my 35 year old K100, would call a nice warm-up! 😜
    Touring isn't as much a question of gear, as a mindset and a philosophy of how to travel!

    I spend an exorbitant amount of time daydreaming about motorcycle tours, both past and future. I’m obsessed with it, even though I haven’t done that much compared to a lot of motorcyclists. (Probably ~5000 miles of touring). It’s heaven to me. I can only take a maximum of 2 weeks off of work at a time so that keeps me limited. But in 10 years I retire with a pension and I can’t wait to do 1, 2, and 3 month long motorcycle tours. Maybe longer.

    Welcome to the UK 😂😂😂. Waterproof riding kit it’s the best investment ever. Essential in England. I ride in all weathers only but it away when the ice comes. Would highly recommend you doing more touring we have an amazing country to explore. Wales and Scotland also have great roads.

  • @parasina
    @parasina 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Heated grips are a necessity in Iceland, & I imagine the riding season is quite similar in UK. Warmly recommended, especially for any sort of touring when you can get caught in cold/wet weather.

    • @AAARREUUUGHHHH
      @AAARREUUUGHHHH 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For some reason, I'd never even considered the possibility of there being motorcyclists in Iceland. What are the roads like up there? Obviously you've got all the scenery

    • @parasina
      @parasina 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AAARREUUUGHHHH some of the mountain roads are quite spectacular, as well as roads following the shoreline around fjords etc. The rest is a bit on a boring side, but there are always great views. Low traffic is probably the best trait of riding in Iceland, at least in rural parts outside of Reykjavík.
      Here's a clip of one of my favorite local roads & maybe it can give you some idea how it is -

  • @HS99876

    Yep, you can make a naked bike to a sport touring bike by adding a few mods, it will be cheaper than sport touring or adventure bike. You just need a touring windshield plus a clip on, handlebar risers, comfortable seat and bags. This way you can get more out of your bike. Usually sport touring and adventure bikes are bigger and heavier, not made for street.

    If you want a good route to do for a day trip, go from Exeter into Exmouth, along past Sidmouth/Sidford, past Seaton, into Lyme then West Bay (there's a Helmet City there), then carry on past on the third exit of the roundabout where the pub is and follow that road, it will take you to Portsmouth, a gorgeous isle ans spit that has a lighthouse and is prime for photos. I'm not too far from your area so I'd always be happy for a ride out during the week

    Idk how tall you are but, me being 1.80m high, I noticed that even with rubber tank pads like yours I didn't have much tank grip as I'd like. I bought another pair of rubber tank pads (the cheapest ones I could find, no matter the model they're supposed to fir) and cut them so they'd fit in those plastic "squares" on the side of the tank (where the knees touch when you're riding it) that are in front of your rubber pads. They made a good difference on the amount of grip I got.
    Cheers!

I think if I were to do segments longer than 150-200 miles in a day though, I would prefer to have a sport touring bike that would be a bit more comfortable in the seat and having a nice fairing for shelter from the wind.
