Love that Evan's confidence is peaking at the same time as her physical fitness is! BTW, although a bit more expensive, Lululemon has XXXS tights (shorts) with side and waist pockets, that might work for Evan. They do typically last a long time.
I carried a handheld during my last mountain 50k (I train with it also). Anyway, I didn’t even know I was holding it. It just became part of me. I’m sure it will go well for Evan and Cole! Also, fuel belt is a great place to keep gels (I use the UltraSpire race belt, and it is awesome). Go crush it at CIM!
I am an adult male but I was very surprised with the Flipbelt , I use it for my keys and phone and they both stay perfectly still when I run . I feel it would work well with gels too. Tried it on at a Rei store before buying it . Good luck ! (I have the one with the zipper)
Love those Janji half tights! I have two pair and just bought two pair of the Janji full tights with it getting colder in the mornings. I tried a few types of bottles and soft flasks but running with them in my hand just throws my rhythm off too much. I may run with an 8oz soft flask in my tights though.
i have found that trail shorts generally have lots of pockets to carry gels. i have a pair of PATH project shorts that are super lightweight and can hold many gels! Never tried half tights but have been considering those too.
I run with a hand held water bottle, and at this point it feels strange not to have a drink with me when I go for a run. Are Evan and Cole in full taper mode yet? I get the taper crazies in the last week before a marathon.
My run club runs exclusively on the left side of the road in the bike lane. It's safer for runners as you can see oncoming vehicles approaching and we get out of the way of any oncoming bikers to give them right of way.

thanks for the tips john. and yes, practicing with the bottle helps a ton! thanks for the encouragement!!!
I found a little Spi bottle that’s perfect to carry but should probably practice getting the top on and off to refill!
that's a great idea! i stopped at every aid station at the LA marathon one year and ran a very good time for me.
Looks very nice to run in Irvine! Hello from Buena Park.
let's go buena park!!! EVERYWHERE is a great place to run!!!

path projects is an excellent brand. thanks for the tip eric!
Half tights for the win! If you need to stock up, rabbit half tights are on sale on running warehouse.
awesome! thanks for the tip andrew.. can't wait to see you in your neck of the woods!
Pro tip- Naked Running Band for carrying gels!
absolutely! i use naked and so do many of my athletes. unfortunately, naked doesn't fit evan.
Chicken legs 1/2 tights FTW. Great pockets and price is right!!!!! Plain black or get funky prints!!!
chicken leg half tights! hahahahaha! yas! cole is getting dialed in. so excited!

pretty much in full taper mode now. they are energized and ready to race!!!!
Do they refill their bottles with their own mix at the aid stations? One handheld can't make it the entire race I assume?
they will drink their bottles by mile 12 and then take hydration from the aid stations during the second half.
Why did Evan have to change shoes?
she wore shoes that rubs the back of her ankles. we meant to trim them but forgot to. gotta get that done~
WTF are you doing riding on the left side of the road? That's not only illegal but dangerous. Please, support your athletes legally and safely.
you're right. we'll be more responsible moving forward!
