@otoniel780 Hi and happy holidays! Yes, the scanner works for generic obd2 without keys. The scope works without they keys as well. Under generic, you do not have some factory bi-directional commands, and it does not support the guided tests without the keys. For example, under generic, you can see your map sensor pid and how it responds, compare that reading on alldata and find a pin out. Then, set up the scope yourself. With the key, if you click map sensor, it would say for this year and model, this is the description and operation. This is where the sensor is, what color the wires are, and identify them for you, tell you what one to put a backprobe in. Then it sets up the scope for you and tells you what reading to expect. The scope is very good, just seems in alot of vids of them in use, the person doesn't share the modis does 99% of the research and work and is right more than 99% of the time. I have a Chevy I'm working on in the garage and will see if it scans with no key on a 2018. I will Let you know!
@OneManOnFire Hi, no internet is required for anything. Even the lessons and pin outs are built in. It runs on windows so I imagine that is how they managed such a large library It works up to the update year , version 14.5 is all of 2014 and some of 15 . I believe 2008 is the year Modis came out. For that car you would not need one that has been updated at all for model years. That does make them cheaper used!
I just bought one too, hasn't shown up yet but I'm looking forward to playing with it!

Is Internet required to access any of the special functions? My newest car I would use it on is a 2008 Honda.
