    Thank you for recording my layout - I have seen various TH-cam videos featuring the layout over the years and I have to say that I think that this is the best so far. Just to say that the photographer who pops out of the taxi to photograph the steam train is a 3D printed version of me. 2001 was the very end of main line steam on China Rail itself, but did live on until 2005 on the 600 mile Ji-Toing 'regional' railway which was not officially part of the national network. Industrial steam certainly lived on until 2020 in one remote area of the NW of China, but the current situation is unknown - to me at least. Thanks again for posting this.

      Thanks Paul, so glad you enjoyed the video and well done for creating such a fantastic layout! Thanks for the corrections and further info too - I've pinned your comment so that it will remain at the top for anyone else interested in the layout. Thanks for watching 😃

    I saw this at Alexander Palace, it was incredibly impressive and very busy with people wanting to see. Makes a nice change to the normal UK and USA layouts

      Yes that's where I filmed this video too and you're not wrong I had to wait quite a while to get to the front as it always had a large crowd around it. It definitely stood out as something very different! Thanks for watching 😃

    Just splendid ! This layout nails exactly what contemporary China looks like, and with a minimalistic setting. It's great to see something original like that in model train form, thanks for the author of this layout.

      My thought's exactly! Normally when I see a layout that's outside my usual area of interest I pass by... but Beijiao was so well presented and so engaging it really captured my (and everyone else's) attention! Thanks for watching 😃

    It's a very interesting layout and there's always something going on, very cleaver how the vehicles move as well but in general its a very good layout

      You certainly do get the atmosphere of the busy city outskirts with this layout from the trains, the moving cars and even the work going on in the tiny shops at the very back! Thanks for watching 😃

    I've been wanting to see this layout for ages! Interesting fact though, you mention how steam in China was "just hanging on" in 2001, there have actually been steam engines used as late as 2019 (possibly even now) around the coal mines in Sandoling, Xinjiang! Still a great video, just wish these models were still available for a not insane proce...

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh wow, good to know! Since the layout was set in 2001 I incorrectly assumed that was when Steam was coming to an end but it's really interesting to know it may still be running even to this day. Thanks for watching 😃

    • @MattyP62618

      @@ThatModelRailwayGuy yeah there's some good videos of them still working in those coal mines. Incredible that steam is still being used!

    That is something, no doubt. The steam locos have an almost U.S. flavor. They could have been built by Lima or Baldwin. Some of the Chinese working steam video's here are also quite fascinating.

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting you think they look American, I though with the black bodies and red wheels they had a slightly German look... mind you I know nothing about Chinese, US or German locos so who am I to judge.
      I imagine other parts of the world look at British steam locos and think they all look the same too 😂 Thanks for watching 👍

    My first time to see a "Chinese Model trains and layout". The street view is fantastic, realistic and detailed, however with a very limited section. What is the brand of the model trains and vehicles? a Chinese one? Can you please provide more close-ups to view the quality of the trains and vehicles? Way to go!

    • @ThatModelRailwayGuy
      @ThatModelRailwayGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to clarify this isn't my layout I just filmed it, so I'm afraid I can't be much help in regards to H0 Chinese Models. I believe it's attending the Warley exhibition in a few weeks time though if you wanted to see it close up in more detail. I imagine the operators will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Thanks for watching 👍

    Hello everyone looking at this video of my layout. If you like what you see, would you consider joining my exhibition operating team? My existing team is spread all over the country - Watford (me), Barnet, Wandsworth, Croydon, Carshalton and Coventry. So, you can see that getting a team to any given exhibition is quite daunting. Ideally I need a pool of 10/12 potential operators who can be called upon depending on where the next show is. So, how about it? There is scope for anyone to be part of the team no matter where you live. So, if you like what you've seen please consider joining in. Thanks. Paul
