For sanding in really tight areas, apply double sided tape to a credit type plastic card, add your desired grit, cut in strips. Cut the tips sharp as needed.
The Masters Brush Cleaner & Preserver is the real deal! I've been able to use this to straighten out stray hairs on some of my brushes. It also clean the brush thoroughly and you won't believe what still come out of your "clean" brush. Good stuff.
I used to build model kits 5+ years ago and finding your channel got me excited to start again so i took all my paints and stuff out of storage and bought the badger electric mixer because I had a lot of separated paints :( . I can't wait to get started again!!! thank you so much :)
Ha. The same thing just happened to me. I am currently getting all my modelling gear out of storage and have just placed an order for some items to get me going again… including a paint mixer.
Dspaie came out with a sandpaper version and they are absolutely amazing wet or dry, try them out. They have #400, #800,#1000,#1200,#1500, as well as refills starting at #180,#280 and up. On other thing that is out now is the sanding sponge disc sets (SS-C01 and SS-C02) the grits are the same as the sponge sets but all pre cut and self adhesive is added
A long the brush cleaner, I would also use their brush conditioner. I'm a commission artist who does a ton of comic book and Manga inking and the number of brushes that that stuff has saved makes it worth its weight in gold. Especially when you need brushes that get into the 50 dollar price range. It almost always brings it back to a super fine point.
In principle a nice gadget. But when you listen in the video when he switched the light of the EL-wire on you can hear a high frequency noise in the background. Most of these cheap lightings kits, especially from china, aren't electronically supressed properly. You will find that with several low price LED driver kits also. This often interferes with other electronics (smartphone, audio equipment, etc.). A real pity, because these kits offer so much potential for the hobby. Maybe it is possible to drop the battery box, where the driver is included in a shielded containment (sheet metal box for example).
Something to keep in mind for the EL Wire newbies: the shorter you cut it, the brighter it glows. It's something you need to be aware of if you're taking a 16 foot long EL wire from Hobby Lobby and cutting it down to size. Driving 16 feet of EL wire with a AA inverter is going to result in some very dim wire, and cutting it down to length is going to significantly change the look of your project. You may need to build in a cubby to hold the extra wire or use a different inverter if the brightness is unwanted. There's also a minimum length of wire the inverters can drive. I don't know about Hobby Lobby's inverters in particular, but you probably shouldn't run less than 1ft of EL wire on a 2xAA inverter because you risk damaging the inverter, and EL wire inverters are the cheapest of the cheap Chinese electronic garbage and they run at extremely high voltages.
This is the stuff people need to see. New stuff that helps with the hobby. The color mats where really cool for doing minis and simular models. What I would love to see is a chart/book that has "all" paints (within reasion) that have the "this paint is just like this paint". So I don't have to worry if I have a the same color from 3 different companies.
I got tuned to a more deluxe version of that powered micro screwdriver on another channel. It's only missing 2 things, a chuck for micro drill bits and an extension. That's cured here with that micro collet -- separate from where? The bit extension would be very helpful for reaching screws as otherwise the bit is snug up against the screwdriver body. Beautiful precision -- I bet I'll be using mine for decades.
I absolutely love watching these videos doing reviews on kit, i have bought quite a few bits as a result of watching your videos. Brilliant videos, keep them coming. Mark from the UK.
Just a heads up that the driver for the El wire makes a very high pitched noise. A couple people have asked about it since it can be heard in the video. Yes, it's very noticable in real life. If your hearing is still fresh enough to pick up that frequency it will drive you nuts. There might be higher quality drivers that don't make the noise but i don't know. When i first bought a couple of kits like this many years ago it really put me off and i just dumped them in a drawer never to be used.
I have been using the brush soap, decal transfers for years, and can't agree more with you, but I found that Hayespaper has clear and white decal transfer paper in 8 1/2x11 sheets and you can use any clearcoat over the print for use, I use Krylon clear glaze in the spray can, 1. You can print many prints on the sheet or keep cutting it down as you need it. 2. A much bigger spray can of clear vs. the small can from Testors. 3. Available in either white or clear for your decals. I love the other tools that you featured and the ideas you offered with them. Keep up the great reviews and even more of these short offerings!
Hello! I was just scrolling through your videos and found this one with the decal making. Have you done a video on how to make them? If not it would be really appreciated! Thank you!
I;ve got the sanding sets, they work great. i still think having the other set of color chips is a better deal. Having no overlap just makes more sense to me.
First of all, thanks for all of your videos and the effort you put into them. Great work, keep it up! EL Wire (that neon-looking rope) is neat for many purposes, but has some disadvantages. Mainly that it needs high voltage to work (that battery case has a driver to up the voltage), the drivers often give of high-pitched screech and connecting a couple EL wire strips manually is fiddly as these have a solid core coated with some phosphorescent substance that you need to scrape off before soldering and two so-called angel wires as the other connection, and these are super thin, rip easily when stripping the plastic outside and are annoying to solder as they're so thin. Also, not particularly bright light sources with a fixed brightness. A different interesting product for flexible illumination is flexible LED filament wire. Lower voltage, easier to work with, but as far as I know are only available in fixed lengths and cannot be shortened. If you want to go down this rabbithole, check this video: th-cam.com/video/zhe8d9NgcsI/w-d-xo.html Another cool miniature light source are these wireless LED light using an electric field for wireless power transmission: th-cam.com/video/QL7bwm_FqlA/w-d-xo.html
I can advise this brush cleaner aswell, been using it since a year and super happy with it. Follow the instructions on how to clean the most dirty brushes ;)
I’ve been looking for a good substitute for Testors Decal Bonder. That stuff was awesome I’m on my last can but Rustoleum discontinued it in 2019. I’ve tried regular clear lacquers and they spray on spotty. The EL wire makes a high frequency noise. I still prefer using spoons for paint tests.
Make sure that you have the correct decal paper -- the decal paper for inkjet printers won't work properly in laser printers, and vice versa. If you're _particularly_ lucky or prepared, Alps _used_ to make ink-jet printers that you could get white ink cartridges for; unless another manufacturer has brought out a similarly-capable line, the only way to get white on a decal using decal paper like this is to use white decal paper and be _extremely_ carful about trimming the printed decal not to show white anywhere but where you want it to appear in the decal. The only other option is, as you say, using a special white cartridge in a laser printer.
Can you test more Dspiae products like the Dspiae Semi Rigid Sanding Sticks or the black/white liquid putty in your next accessory tools for hobby video?
I want to see someone test that powered hobby drill that those 40k guys use! I shall ninjon talking about it a couple months ago. It’s high torque low speed and looks pretty dang sweet! Oh I see the Micro Mark one works with drill bits? Good deal for 35 bucks
Master works but using Vallejo brush cleaner showed how much paint was still in the brush. Only use masters as a conditioner now. Army painter pin vice also has a hidden chuck.
I enjoy your tool reviews very much but you make us so jealous here in Australia. Half of the tools are not available here and if they are they are so expensive. The Micro.Mark power screwdriver shipped to Australia is USD$65 or $96 Australian dollars.
Have always used the masters brushsoap all my painting career, its realy good, i tried a few others but the masters is the best along with the one thats named BrushGoop and has a unicorn on the box
I’ve been following you for a while now and you have made it so easy for me for my model car paint stuff that I can’t thank you enough. I’m diggn this series on tools. Do you fabricate a lot when you build? Do you have favorite vices and files for such things? Thank you and you are awesome! -Kurtis
Love the Dspiae sanding sponges but I wish they did one set from like 400 to 2000 grit. I really don't need anything more coarse that 400 or finer than 2000. Grits like 180 or 4000 are just wasted $$.
Thanks for showing the brush cleaner I'm going to order one. Also have you any suggestions getting the paint lot smoother I have a lot of brush marks and paint seems to be thicker in some places it is not consistent. I have tried it right out of the bottle and have tried to thin it. thanks so much and God Bless.
Is the electric whine on the neon rope as loud in person as it is in the video? It seemed loud enough to put me off from using it, but it might just be getting picked up by the camera mic really well.
Those sanding sets are excellent, lots of choice on the grit levels and they dont ware out straight away like some of the other brands, they actually last. I really like those a lot. Anyone have any recommendations for getting Glyserin here in the land down under? The Humco brand is like $50-64 to get out here, looking for a more reasonably priced alternative. We have something labled Gyserine in our local grocery stores, but not sure if its the same/similar product or not. Cheers.
so the hobby mio color cards might just be the same as the dispae ones which are 60x80mm in size. That's pretty close to yugioh (59x86mm) or pokemon cards sizes (63x88mm) im thinking of putting them into a card binder (its more like a book than a binder) so i can look at multple colors at once more easily. its not nearly as thick so itll be easier to store. Lastly eventually paper all rips around binder rings so itll likely keep the cards safer

Nice power precision screwdriver kit. Very good, But definitely NOT under $20. $35…plus shipping. So, likely closer to $50, all said and done. Still a good deal, though considering comparable item’s prices and what you actually get.
not a fan of those black base for alligator clips, they get easily stuck inside and you have to sometime pull hard with one hand while the other has to hold the base or the entire thing go with the stick, on top of that they easily tilt and sometimes touch the others clips making your drying parts touch each other and they even sometimes fall on their own if the part is too heavy, awful. There is virtually no reason to take them over a cardboard one
Just me nit picking for my own sake, most people will know what you mean when you call that a chuck but those are collets in the pin vise. Would love a detailed video on custom decals! Your videos are fantastic and very informative, especially for new people to the hobby like my self!
You should definitely do a tutorial on the custom decals. I had looked into and had trouble finding one. Would love to see it.
I love your excitement at the screwdriver having a reverse mode. You love this stuff, and it shows.

I am currently getting all my modelling gear out of storage and have just placed an order for some items to get me going again… including a paint mixer.
this is by far the best modelling channel ever. Amazing content, lots of ideas, very helpful content. Keep going mate

What is love to find out about is your brush stands. I've been searching for them, and cans find them. They'd be perfect for my setup.
I have had those sanding blocks for a while and never knew there was three thickness's. WOW
I've been using that brush conditioner for years.
It is truly a wonderful product that everyone should have on their bench !
Very helpful. It is nice to look at tools before you buy them. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Wife uses the brush cleaner for water colors and didn’t think it would work for acrylics or enamels. Will give it a try
duuuude...that light was sooo kool!!! that be a good party toy too lol!!! you always have a bunch of kool stuff...thank you!!

These tools videos are so great, thanks so much, keep em coming, always cool to see other tools - can’t wait to see the scribing ones.
I'm definitely interested in that transforming kit!
Very cool. I need a 3 tone test card with black, gray, and silver.
Really thankful for you doing videos like this. Helps me to know that the items I want for the hobby actually exist.
I absolutely love watching these videos doing reviews on kit, i have bought quite a few bits as a result of watching your videos. Brilliant videos, keep them coming. Mark from the UK.
Thanks Mark and hello from the US
I have that friskars handle and I absolutely love it fits so well in the hand
Yeah that's a great handle

Agreed on that brush cleaner. I've been using that brand since I attended RISD back in the early 1990s!
Small world, I'm from RI, I didn't attend but my niece did
That neon rope is insane! I need to get that pin vice as well. Thanks for the reviews!
Light up neon rope cool. I'm going to have to look into that. Thanks for putting ideas in my head.
Great video. Time to go shopping.
You bring the hobbie to a whole new level keep it coming

Really like the paint book and the brush cleaner. Awesome 👍
With a laser color printer and "ghost white toner" you replace the black toner with the white one and then print perfect white decals.
Make sure that you have the correct decal paper -- the decal paper for inkjet printers won't work properly in laser printers, and vice versa.

If you are using a solvent based paint like a lacquer or an enamel add some retarder, if you are using an acrylic then add some flow improver
Is the electric whine on the neon rope as loud in person as it is in the video? It seemed loud enough to put me off from using it, but it might just be getting picked up by the camera mic really well.

If my wife says I have enough modeling materials already; I will turn her to your videos for instant relief.
Well just did my early Xmas shopping lol....that's a great idea on making a video on decals so hopefully you make one because I don't believe TH-cam has any ....great video like also
hello ,how long does it last the sand paper for you? regards
Zup bro! Thanks for the video bro 😎👍🏼
here we go!!!
What was the high pitch feedback from when you had the neon rope on?
That's the driver, it makes that noise all the time when it's on. It's very annoying.
I love the soap
It restored some over decade old brushes i used in middle school
They really should make white/grey/black cards
The el wire uses a high frequency converter and I can clearly hear the whine from the black box. Is it just because the box is next to the microphone or is it audible?
It is very audible. I was checking if someone had warned about this. I have a couple kits (different supplier) that have been sitting in a drawer for over a decade unused because of the noise.
Классный обзор ! Ждем следующего !
"The only thing I like about this is two things"...
that pitch sound when you turn the wire on??
Nice power precision screwdriver kit. Very good, But definitely NOT under $20.
$35…plus shipping. So, likely closer to $50, all said and done. Still a good deal, though considering comparable item’s prices and what you actually get.
I forgot to figure in inflation. It was $20 when I bought it

Why does the light make a sound?
Just me nit picking for my own sake, most people will know what you mean when you call that a chuck but those are collets in the pin vise.
A chuck has independent jaws that close on a part where as a collet is a tube that has cuts in it and tighting a spindle or compression fitting clamps it to the part.
Unfortunately, Testors did away with the bonder like they did with their other paints. Krylon clear in the spray can will work. Pledge Revive-it works, but they discontinued that product as well.
Yeah, also Rust-Oleum discontinued the Testors decal paper too, fortunately Hobby Lobby now sells it under their own label
3:57 I know you said that this is a old brush, but please be a little more gentle with nice ones.
I hope those el lights dont squeal irl
Where I come from $3 will buy you 10 meters of sandpaper. Not a few tiny little squares!
Hey Barbatos.
I was looking if I could thin my Tamiya cement to make it more like the thin cement and found a really good explanation that might help you too
th-cam.com/video/VnyNbkoc72k/w-d-xo.html
Tamiya thin is a 50/50 mix of n-butyl acetate and acetone. 😉
You have a bad habit of stating the price way below what produces can be had for.
Inflation. He couldn’t have predicted it.
You should never need to use hot water on your brushes
why do i always find better and cheaper items once i've already bought said similar product, grrr
Every time I watch your videos and find something I like I look it up and it’s out of stock….. -_-
I find that too when I go to buy stuff for myself, can't believe how much influence my channel has
Hello Barbatos. Please move your hands slowly so we can see the results and products thoroughly.
Slowwwwwww!!!!
The constant fidgeting is really distracting and makes it hard to see the product.
