    When you enter a school you are usually greeted by the 1st available instructor who becomes your ongoing instructor though there is no guarantee they will be right for you. Grade 1& 2 instructors will be more experienced but you may learn better with a grade 3 if their personality and teaching style suits you. Thanks Jane 🙂

    Hey Jane, I was wondering if you have any knowledge on how and/or if it is possible to convert your Canadian CPL+IFR License to an Australian Licenses?
    Cheers :)

    • @studybeforeflight

      Hey sorry for the late reply, not sure if you found my other video yet about licence conversion. th-cam.com/video/qXLUcnVjThc/w-d-xo.html
      It should be quite straight forward to convert your Canadian licences since both Canadian and Australian licences follow ICAO.

    i live in Brisbane and i'm planning on going to Melbourne for flying school/college after graduating, do you think it is a good choice?

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you move interstate to learn flying, that will incur higher expense for living, food and other daily essential, compared to your home state. Certainly, there is some good schools in Melbourne, but so is Brisbane. Have a look around in Brisbane first to confirm if there is really no flying school of your liking.

    Will flying school be useful for cargo or passenger aka the big airlines or do you need to fo to uni or tafe

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you don't have to go to uni to get pilot licence for airline jobs, but it could be beneficial to have a degree on your resume instead of just commercial pilot licence (CPL). For charter pilot or other general aviation jobs, just CPL from flying school, college or uni, will be fine.

    Hi Jane, could you please share your thoughts about get a pilot license at learn to fly melbourne school? Will it be worth it to sign up for this school etc?

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I have never been to this school, nor met anyone who learnt flying there, so I can't place an opinion about their quality of teaching.
      Regardless of any comments from any people, it is always the best to go to the school in person and check it out yourself. Talk to as many instructors and students you can see as possible, don't be shy. Think about your future 80K+ that you need to pay back, if you didn't invest properly in a school that suit you, it won't be nice.

    Looking to do the RMIT course accociates degree in aviation at point cook what do you think about it?

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doing a degree is certain a good option, however it could be costly overall compared to a flying school. For me, I enjoyed my time at UNSW which has a similar degree and setting. It is fast pace, and stressful at times with deadline with the school program... For some reason, some people hate big flying school or uni, thinking they are a sausage factory, but in my experience with job interview, no employer cares, as soon as I performed well.
      Another suggestion is that you should talk to someone who is currently doing the courses or has done the course in the past, ask them about their experience and everything you want to know.

    Hi there,
    I’m from Germany and at the moment i’m doing my Private Pilot License. The instruction is very expensive here in Germany, it does not matter if you run through an airlines cadet program or through a private flight training center( Costs from 70 up to 110000€ ).I always thought about becoming pilot in another country. Is it possible to continue the flight training in Australia even though i am not an australian citizen. Will my Private Pilot License handed over by EASA be accepted in AUS? Which possibilities do you have in Australia after finishing the flight training. And what if you do your flight training in a private school, do flight students who finished their exams and theory still have to run through assessments and tests conducted by airlines after application or do they show their License and just get the type rating?
    Kind regards:) I’m looking forward to your answer

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. You can continue flight training in Australia, as long as you have your training record from your school, and your correct record of flight time in your logbook. Those hours should be recognised in Australia.
      2. You don't have to be Australian to learn flying in Australia, however you do need some sort of visa to stay in Australia for your training. Tourist visa is the most straight forward one, but please do your own research on that.
      3. If you already have a licence in Germany, and you wish to convert, you can undergo the foreign licence conversion. Look up a video in my channel.
      4. You don't have to prove how you get the licence, because all licence and rating are issued by a CASA authorised flight examiners. Regardless where you do your flight training, if you pass the flight test, your licence or rating is valid in Australia. If you wish to get a job with an airlines, airlines will undergo a full interview process to access your technical and non technical skills.

    I'm going to be honest here, I'm a year 11 teenager that is looking forward to becoming a pilot but the thing is that I'm very broke with not much time to afford... so I suppose my only option here is to go for the first way that you suggested , right... which is to go for the local flight school? Because I obviously can not go for the second way since I am broke and neither can I go for the third way since I do not have much time to spare.

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, it require a lot of time to study to become a pilot and quite a lot of money to learn flying in both flying school or university. If you don't either one, especially time, becoming a pilot might not be suitable for you.

    I'd like to start flying casually, but i've always been put off because I thought that cadetships don't like you to have any previous flying experience. Is this true?

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have heard that as well, but only a few airlines are like that, i.e. only want to train people with no experience.
      However, most airlines doesn't care about that anymore, they care more about your knowledge and performance during the interview.
      For example. Does your knowledge meet your experience in flying?
      If you have a PPL, they expect you to know everything up to PPL level, it will be beneficial to know up to CPL level.
      Basically, your knowledge level should at least match or above your flying experience.
      My advise for you, just don't wait, at least go for a flight or two to experience the joy of flying!

    Hi Jane, I am thinking about to change my occupation to my childhood dream. Which was become a Pilot. But someone said there is a height requirement to become a pilot, my height is 153cm 5ft. Is there any height requirement for female to become pilot?

    • @studybeforeflight
      @studybeforeflight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn't any height requirement for private or commercial pilot. For air force, yes, from my friend, it is at least 164cm.
      Cushions will be your best friend. As long as you reach all controls and equipments with cushions, that meets the requirement. If you are unsure, go for trial flight first to see what it is like to sit in the cockpit.
