I have never done ANY of what you just mentioned but what attracts me to Copywriting is that I know it is such a valuable skill that I can have and provide to the marketplace. I love Photography and Video but I also know it is not as valuable as copy and therefore I lose motivation to pursue photo and film. I would rather increase my own value by working on persuasion and influence cause I know these skills will get me much further in life in terms of success. What are your thoughts?
hey @kopywriting . I Create videos & i have no writing experience . Just a couple of blogs ! And this is of-course not a good sign but i have written creative scripts for my short form videos. (400+ scripts) and i enjoy writing them. do they count ?
Awesome video, Neville! After being in this industry for a while it's really refreshing to see a no-bs approach that highlights the skill itself, not the Madmen/Ogilvy copywriting career.
Hey Cristian, yeah I think that old school method is more Agency Copywriting: copywritingcourse.com/how-to-become-a-copywriter/#become-agency-copywriter The SKILL itself is the valuable thing! You don't always have to charge for copywriting as a career on it's own, but often times create your own business and apply copywriting to it.
Hi! I really enjoyed this video, and yes I plan to focus my previous life-skills and work experience on a copywriting career! Although I agree with you that copywriting is a skill that business owners should try to master, it can be very time-consuming, and as there are only 24 hours in a day, many business owners would prefer to hire copywriters full time or part time , even remotely, so that they, the business owners can focus their time on other tasks to grow their business. This comes from speaking with a number of owners in the restaurant, health-care, legal, dental and other fields...I look forward to working my a** off, to make it my new career! The cream rises to the top! Cheers, Julie.
Lots of your stuff online is great and I like your content. Even tho this video can be misleading to some beginners. It's true that most people are not committed etc... Just like in anything, even at the gym. They've bad habits, they have "bad" social circle/friends, they watch "bad" and useless videos that makes them undisciplined etc... But that's the thing, is more habitual than anything else. Even "liking" something is a myth. it's scientific. It all comes down to dopamine. If you get dopamine from something then you "love it" because you want to get back to it and get some more dopamine. And you get dopamine only once it becomes a habit and/or when you get results. That's the problem with the info in this video. Plus copywriting is first selling and then writing (as you know better than me). But way much more selling than writing as Dan Kennedy, Hopkins etc... all thought. It all comes down to direct response. Direct response requires a deep understanding of people that you don't get with "creativity" but with research processes. Then crafting the messages and offers with that and again not from "creativity". Again Dan Kennedy said he uses formulas 80% of the times (Problem:Agitation:Solution) and research (prospects, product/service and competitors / past marketing already done). This seems easy but is the opposite. This is simple but it takes shitloads of discipline to do research, test new messages, offers and copy. The writing comes after all of this and is all based on the DRM research (you know better than me, just saying that for beginners who don't). Overall Neville gives good advices. Like getting paid $100 is the best way to get started etc...

This video is soo helpful! Thanks a lot! I'm 17(Indian), I love human psychology and selling. So I'm getting into copywriting. I've completed $200 worth of content writing. Can you give some advice to grow/start as an ONLINE copywriter?
I have recently written a poetry book and self published it. I also run a Instagram page for sharing my poetry with 5k+ followers with a great amount of engagement that gave me a opportunity to write for a online magazine. I also write songs but too scared to share. I Journal alot. Can I jump in copywriting too ? I want to explore more and more into writing.
Building yourself to reach copywriting skill is not easy. You have to go through those experiences in order to get there. English is not my native language and I find it more difficult, thus I am willing to learn, I am going to practice and apply those advice that you said. Its all worth it to spend time watching your videos.
Hi Neville What about going to school for communication and just having a goal to work for an advertising agency. I am not interested in becoming a freelancer.
Umm, sorry to say this but!!!! Before 2020, I used to hate writing, literally hate it! But, the turnaround time came when I started working as a content writer and by the god's grace, it made me discover my love for writing, now I'm learning Copywriting. So, I don't think this is a good sign to judge or test anyone on the basis of if they've ever written something! 🙄
Curious: at some point it became popular to shoot talking heads with two cameras - one, looking straight into camera; one, looking off axis. Why is this a being done? Or, even more specifically, why did you do it in this video?

I can think of 10 reasons NOT to become or be appropriate for copy writing.
I actually dont mind sitting down and writing the whole day for free as long as im learning something, but english is not my strong point and I havent wirtten something In my life except in school because otherwise why would I do it?
