      3g owners.
      Hello, Family. My name is Chris, “Rinzler975”. I purpose to secure 25+ Wavetrac (helical) limited slip differentials, for the 3g Mitsubishi Eclipse 6g72, manual 5 speed, F5M51 transmission. Model: 76.309.180WK.
      I’m a stranger to you. Trying to convince you, the value of this expensive Mod and asking you, to help me/us get one. But there are several of us who are well known and trusted (benjamin Gilmore, Franky Mitsu, 6g75 3g, tcroc30, ZergBush, Advanced Clutch, DyLaNpAuL, and 03Eclipse), that we look to for reliable advice. I hope some of these will weigh in on this mod and this proposal (which is at the end of this letter).
      I did reach out to Wavetrac and have been in contact with, Ryan Viaeu, at Autotech Driveline. The North American office of Wavetracc. Tel: +1.949.362.8700. www*wavetrac*net/contact*htm.
      A limited slip differential, or diff, or LSD; is a transmission mod. The main purpose is to improve traction, handling, eliminate the “One-wheel peel” and to make use of all the available power. It keeps both wheels in powered rotation, so that the traction will not be limited to the one wheel that can handle the less amount of power. Wikipedia*org/wiki/Limited-slip differential
      I am directing this letter, to the vendors/dealers that were referred by Ryan at Autotech Driveline and a few reputable others I have found that do carry multiple lines of Wavetrac products. For the purpose of; facilitating the order, negotiating retail cost, maintaining a running account and determining capability for delivery to individuals. I am not asking you for money. I will not hold your money. I will not put up money for you. We are making a group purchase. You will pay the dealer, yourself. I will be bidding this propasal to:

      PROPOSAL (WILL BE EMAILED TO EACH VENDOR/DEALER)
      Hello. My name is Chris, “Rinzler975”. I purpose to secure 25+ Wavetrac (helical) limited slip differentials, for the 3g Mitsubishi Eclipse 6g72, manual 5 speed, F5M51 transmission. Model: 76.309.180WK.
      I did reach out to Wavetrac and have been in contact with, Ryan Viaeu, at Autotech Driveline. The North American office of Wavetracc. Tel: +1.949.362.8700. www*wavetrac*net/contact*htm.
      Ryan informed me that, while production of this specific model, has not been enough in demand to maintain their stock. These differentials can be readily produced. So long as, to do so would be justifiable to the cost of production. In other words; there must be a ready demand.
      Ryan went on to explain the prerequisite conditions:
      1. Minimum order of 25 units
      2. Order must be placed through an authorized dealer
      3. 50% of total cost must be paid in advance
      4. Allow 16 weeks for delivery, to dealer.
      5. Unit cost, Approx: $1,100.00 (Wholesale)
      Authorized Dealers. I am directing this letter also, to individual members of Club3g. A forum community dedicated to Mitsubishi Eclipse 3G owners and enthusiasts. As well as to various TH-camrs that vlog the platform (+200 individuals). As you please respond to me, with your ideas. I will pass along that information, to each person who responds to me, that wants to stay informed.
      Other points to be considered:
      1. We owners would prefer that, no one of us, be required to maintain any monies being collected. Please inform us, how you would like to handle that aspect. My initial thought is that, once you indicate that you would like to process this order for us. And provide your offer with guidelines. Then each of us, would contact you, to confirm that we are interested. Once the minimum reservation has been met, that group would be notified and make payment at that time. Afterward, each account could be handled individually.
      2. We would not expect for you to wait, indefinitely, for 25 preorders. Upon your agreement to process; I would propose 30 days notification, for interested parties to contact you themselves and place their orders. Once the minimum order has been placed, I would like to make an additional posting to all; indicating sufficient interest and offering ample opportunity to order for those that may be waiting to see traction. For a total of, not more than 5 weeks.
      3. We understand that this request is unique and may be considered, out of the way. One incentive to you though, is that this will not be a piece meal. It will be 25 units or more; at once. We are extending this proposal to multiple vendors. For reasons of both, availability and seeking the better buy. $1,100.00, plus your cost, is not a frivolous amount to any of us.
      4. Wavetrac lists the: 10.309.187WK (for Audi), at $1,295.00. One vendor lists the same, at $1,155. 50 (9.2% less). Another example is the: 30.309.150WK (for BMW). Wavetrac lists this differential, for $1,395.00. Another vendor has it for, $1,245.50 (9.3% less). Also; at least one vendor offers free shipping, standard on all Wavetrac differentials.
      As an authorized dealer, you have the purchase power that we would like to be to our benefit. And, we believe that you should also benefit at this great favor that you can facilitate. Without consoling my colleagues or asking your buying cost. I would like to offer 10% over Wavetrac’s $1,100.00 list price. So, $1,210.00 per unit (before tax). That way, if the buying cost for this model is comparable to the examples mentioned above, then you stand to profit up to 19.2%, per unit. $5,808.00, minimum; overall. Which we hope will be worth the trouble to you. We also do appreciate the free shipping, that at least one of you does provide, standard.
      Thank you in advance, for the service that you already provide. We look forward to hearing from you,
      to know what your thoughts on this proposal are.
      Chris, “Rinzler975”.

      AllData calls out 6.7 hour for replacement of the clutch and another .2 to replace the pilot bearing. So 6.9 hours total. We did this at our factory. To find a shop near you call us and we can see if we know of any shops in your area (661) 940-7555. Thanks Dennis!

    Ok I got the transmission out, I was wondering if I can just leave the engine on a jack with a block of wood under the oil pan( like chrisfix did his) and if so how long do you think it can stay there.
    I'm just trying to inspect the transmission before I buy a clutch. I think my throw out bearing it going bad.

    One question. The last time i replaced a clutch on a front wheel drive I had to stick a broom handle in the transmission before removing the second drive axle. Is this necessary on the eclipse? (Last time it was a Ford)

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No broom handle needed for this job. Just drain the transmission before popping the axles out.

    i have a 00 gt. i bought it from a guy that says the clutch was gone. I bled the slave cyl. It seems to work properly. when the clutch is released, there is no return of the arm that holds the throw-out bearing. i'd say a new clutch kit is the way to go. tips on resurfacing the flywheel...pro/cond of just resurfacing instead of replacing would be appreciated. could you reccomend which clutch kit. mine has headers and a tune. thanks for your help. this is the best install video on the tube...BOD

    When I installed my new clutch disk, I used the alignment tool like shown in the video and installed the pressure plate. But after the bolts securing the pressure plate were snugged down the clutch disk just falls down and isnt staying in place without the alignment tool. Any idea why this might be happening? It has me stumped

    Why did you remove the horizontal shift linkage what part did you mean for easier installation?

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jonah! Great question! The horizontal shift linkage was removed from the transmission because it makes contact with the frame of the vehicle when removing or installing the transmission. With the linkage, we struggled a little bit to remove the transmission. Without the linkage there is more room to maneuver the transmission which allowed us to install the transmission without the struggle we encountered during the removal.

    This vehicle has a pull type clutch. You will need to disconnect the bearing from the pressure plate. The bearing needs to be pushed towards the pressure plate then stick a flat blade screwdriver under the bearing and twist. When done correctly you can move the clutch fork and see the bearing move freely in the belhousing. The time stamp that explains this procedure starts at 4:55.

      This clutch in the video is what we would recommend based off of your year and engine size. The clutch disc is 240mm roughly 9.5 inches. If you have any other questions or concerns feel free to contact us at (661) 940-7555

    Hi I am currently doing the reinstall of my clutch. I am wondering what way do you put the disc in? I don't want to put it in wrong and have to take it all apart again.

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Disc has a laser etching that says transmission side. When you put the disc up to the engine you should be able to read it. The hub part of the disc that faces the transmission is taller than the side that faces the engine. If you have any other questions please call our tech dept at (661) 940-7555 M-F 8:30am-4:30pm PST

      Chris, “Rinzler975”.

    so you don't have to unbolt the shifter in order to remove transmission?

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shifter in the car can be left on the vehicle. The shifter cables and cable mount needs to be removed to pull the transmission out. Upon installation We found it was easier to get the transmission in when we removed the horizontal shift linkage and bracket on the transmission.

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, You will have to support the engine in some way while the transmission is out. If you are doing this clutch job on the ground with the car on jackstands and not on a lift you can support the engine with a floor jack to hold it up while the trans is out.

    Did y'all have to support the engine in anyway? Everywhere I read is that people support the engine with a hoist

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes We used a support for the engine that is similar to using a floor jack when the car is on jack stands. Just make sure that you do not lift the engine by the oil pan. If you have an engine hoist you can use that as well.

    How much did this job cost

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      AllData calls out 6.7 hour for replacement of the clutch and another .2 to replace the pilot bearing. So 6.9 hours total. It would depend on what your local shop would quote per hour and how long they would take. This number is a national average and sometimes it takes a shop a shorter amount of time and sometimes longer. It can vary. This at least give you a ballpark figure.

    I'm working on a 2002 Chrysler Sebring lxi 3.0 V6 which has the same drive and power train as the same year eclipse gt.
    I ran into an issue with the pressure plate and flywheel fitment, the stock fly wheel has a 1/4" raised outer lip where the pressure plate sits and bolts on to the flywheel.
    I bought a performance flywheel that is completely flat without the raised lip so when mating the pressure plate to the F.W the stock bolts don't reach.
    I ordered the clutch kit for the Sebring lxi 3.0 V6, and the FW for the eclipse 3.0 V6 since I couldn't find one for Sebring V6 thinking it would be the same for either application. I can see in the video a flat surface flywheel was used, so now it has me wondering if I bought the wrong FW for my application even though the Sebring uses the same Mitsubishi 3.0 as the eclipse, and should just bite the bullet and buy a stock fly wheel with the stepped outer lip. Any advice is appreciated.

    • @AdvancedClutchTechnology
      @AdvancedClutchTechnology  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The research we have done for these applications implicates that while the same Mitsubishi 3.0L 6G72 engine was used in both the Eclipse and Sebring, the transaxles were different. The Eclipse used the F5M51 transaxle made by Mitsubishi while the Sebring used the A578 transaxle made by Chrysler. Other than the different spline size and count of the input shaft, there may have been other differences between the two transaxles such as perhaps the bell housing depth/release bearing placement which would require different flywheels and clutch kits to be used. This would explain why the Mitsubishi 3.0L flywheel has no step (flat) while the Sebring 3.0L flywheel has a stepped surface. To use a factory style clutch kit for your application, it must be used with a flywheel that has the step. In searching for the factory flywheel (Mopar MD379541) we find that it is a discontinued part. If you have the original flywheel and it has no deep grooves or signs of cracking, you should be able to have it resurfaced by a reputable auto machine shop in your area. Unfortunately, we do not offer a clutch kit or flywheel for the Chrysler Sebring 3.0L application.

      @@AdvancedClutchTechnology
      Thank you for taking the time getting back to me, unfortunately the stock Chrysler FW is cracked and beyond repair. After extensive online search I found information in Eclipse forums, of people having the same issue (discontinued FW no longer available, so junk the car? 🤔🤦). These people with Dodge Stratus RT and Chrysler Sebring lxi, found that using the Eclipse combo (FW clutch kit) worked on their cars and combining Mitsubishi and Dodge parts is a bad idea as they don't work together.
      So in light that my only choice is sourcing a used FW at the junk yard (I know where's one but not looking forward to taking it all apart) or using the Mitsubishi design performance FW, Im going to return the Chrysler clutch kit and already ordered a Mitsubishi kit to go with the flywheel. According to some forum members, they got the Mitsubishi combo to work on their Dodge RT and Chrysler LXi. I'm hoping that was the reasoning behind the industry abandoning the production of the Dodge flywheel, logic that the shop/ vehicle owner can should just switch to the Mitsubishi combo.
      Just wanted to leave this here for someone who might feel like they are in a tight spot with this issue like I was (hopefully as I'm still waiting on parts ,😅).

    • @rahoulloubles
      @rahoulloubles ปีที่แล้ว

      Update:
      Bought flywheel for 02' Eclipse for my Chrysler Sebring LXi 3.0 coupe 5 speed (same as Dodge Stratus RT), hard to find original FW retail is very expensive. Must buy eclipse flywheel/clutch kit combo, cannot mix and match parts from Chrysler & Mitsubishi, I learned the hard way. While both the Chrysler/Dodge coupes use the same 3.0 V6 & transmission combo, the Chrysler flywheel has an outer step and the pressure plate has a thicker contact pad to compensate for the FW step.
      I bought the Mitsubishi flywheel and the Chrysler clutch kit separately, result was that pressure plate bolts wouldn't reach the thread, should have bought the kit combo and be done with it which is the best and cheapest route. Can't complain, I returned the Chrysler design clutch kit and sourced an exedy clutch kit very cheap online. End result, Sebring Lxi and Stratus RT (with 3.0 manual trans) use the same flywheel and clutch kit as the 3g Eclipse. Just finished the job today and it runs and shifts like butter. Your video was of great help, I just couldn't wrestle the transmission back in like the brawny guy in the video so I had to use my brain instead of my muscles 😉.

      Remove the slave cylinder.
      Remueve el cilindro esclavo
      Using a medium to large flat blade screwdriver. Put screwdriver in between the release bearing and wedge collar.
      Usando un desarmador de punta plana mediano o grande, coloqua el desarmador entre el tope de desembrague y el collarín de clutch.
      Put your hand on the clutch fork and push so the release bearing moves toward the pressure plate.
      Pon tu mano en la horquilla del embrague y empuja para que el tope de desembrague se mueva hacia el plato de presión.
      Once the release bearing is pushed all the way against the pressure plate turn the screwdriver. The bearing will lift off then move the clutch fork the other way. The bearing should become disconnected.
      Una vez que el tope de desembrague se empuje completamente contra el plato de presión, gire el desarmador. El tope de desembrague se soltará. Luego mueva la horquilla del embrague hacia la dirección contraria y el tope de desembrague debería desconectarse.

      @@juansandoval4839 When installing the transmission the bearing needs to be in the transmission once the transmission is bolted to the engine you then grab the clutch fork with your hand and make the Bearing move towards the pressure plate it will then snap into place.
      Cuando instale la transmisión, el rodamiento necesita estar en la transmisión. Ya que la transmisón este atornillada al motor, agarre el tenedor del embrague con la mano y haz que el rodamiento gire hacia la placa de presión. Luego ya se encajara en su lugar.
