    The craziest thing to me is that so many people in WWE talk shit about how "violent" ECW was and how guys tore their vl bodies up for no money... but then you look at but promotions match for match and look at guys careers in ECW and WWE and the number of stores injuries in WWE are 5 times that of ECW. Its not even a matter of opinion, it is crystal clear that working in WWE is significantly more dangerous than ECW and that as a talent you are exponentially more likely to have a career altering inury with WWE. Its crazy bc they even fooled the WWE into thinking what they were doing was dangerous when really it was more smoke than fire lol. Guess at ECW experienced way more papercuts, and way less car wrecks. That's the best way to describe it.

    Cesaro (Claudio Castignolli) was the biggest bag WWE ever dropped. Every time he had momentum they stamped on it. Any gimmick that worked? Stomped on. In ring expertise? Stomped on. The five language (count it) gimmick? Stamped on. He was very fortunate to go to AEW where his talent shines. I still have misgivings about HHH, I think he might have learned how to book him better like Nakamura is now. I guess we'll never know. I wish the best for Claudio and hope he gets his world title run one day

    • @dirtyhiggins5484
      @dirtyhiggins5484 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Claudio/Cesaro is both terrible on the mic and has little to no charisma. Those two things are more important to a character, than in ring work. Some guys just don't have "It" and that's ok, they can have a long career, they just won't ever be top guys. That's just my thoughts on Cesaro/Claudio

    • @orangemaniabrother2232
      @orangemaniabrother2232 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think Claudio has charisma, it's more a quiet one cos he's not a great speaker and it's not very animated, it's more in his expressions and how he works but i do think he needs more stories catered to him, i don't understand why they can't work with his strengths and around his weaknesses. Like you said, look at what they're doing with Nakamura now, I'm a big fan of his now more than most other times

    • @madreshekel1003
      @madreshekel1003 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@orangemaniabrother2232 Agree 100%. He's been booked really well on AEW and just needed a non-scripted license to shine. Felt like he got stubbed any time he got momentum (remember the Andre battle royal and they had Paul who was managing him just go on about Brock the whole time instead)

    I was gonna point to Lance Storm as a guy who really could - and should - have been a big star.
    But it is hard to argue Sabu.

    ALL the ECW talents were AWESOME and would have made it huge in WWE..... if backstage politics hadn't jumped in and derailed most of them. To give a few examples: 1) Raven coming into WWE should have been a big deal. He was hot at the time, but backstage politics derailed him since Vince McMahon hated Raven due to his Johnny Polo days since allegedly he was hanging out with Shane and getting him drunk. 2) Sabu should have been huge during the 2006 ECW revival, but backstage politics crept in and he was butting heads with Stephanie McMahon over creative decision stuff (she wanted him to talk and give very long promos, Sabu didn't want to do that and wanted to stay true to his character and remain silent and let his actions tell the story. Long story short, it results in Sabu being kicked off of December to Dismember). Those are just two examples of many. Even ECW itself got screwed over by backstage politics during 2006 into 2007. If Vince had just let ECW be ECW, it would have been a HUGE hit. Instead, backstage shenanigans derailed the ECW revival and it failed because of that.
    POINT I"M TRYING TO MAKE HERE...
    ECW in general (the talent and the brand itself) could have gotten over in a huge way if backstage politics hadn't derailed it. Prior to the ECW revival, those ECW DVDs that WWE was putting out around 2003 / 2004 were selling like hot cakes. People loved it, which led to ECW One Night stand 2005 and 2006 and the ECW revival. WWE had a golden goose and they let backstage crap harm it.

They state this almost infinitely that its a job and about money soley first. cant help but think that more mundane view may have played a part in limited/roofed success compared to guys like cena or taker who love the business and could even be considered marks as rvd said about the boys in back who love business. @iamkurazakii หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      this is completely and utterly incorrect. RVD has said on multiple occasions that he loves wrestling, loved ECW, and had many influences growing up that shaped his wrestling career.
      Sabu literally wrestled for over two decades and has wrestling in his blood. He lives and bleeds pro wrestling and has sacrificed so much for the business he loves
      The thing is pro wrestling is a competitive sport and only the tough get pushed. Triple H, Cena, Hogan, Rock, Batista are all individuals who cared about their persona and werent afriad to run ppl over in order to keep their spot
      Shelton Benjamin, a generation talent, has said that he never won the wwe championship because he was too nice.
      RVD has said multiple times that he does not care for the politics of wrestling
      Sabu was meant to get a Brock Lesnar-like, part-time push, but refused because he wanted to wrestle more often.

    he must be joking about sabu. the guy botched more than half his wwe matches and relied on the hardcore aspect too much. he couldn't cut a decent promo and looked a bit old from all the drugs if i'm being completely honest.

      @stlfatman I would respectfully disagree. In my opinion we had no good choices.

    ECW was dogshite, I watched November to Remember 98 just 2 days ago and it was the same as whenever I watch them just bad, stupid finishes a 1000 run ins, they had great characters but the matches for the most part was shite.

      @ they did a gimmick where the referee strained his shoulder getting to 3 for fs, Sunny as a shite referee and wft with spike and mable and fs the whistle every time Fonzie is on.
      Best thing I’ve ever seen from ECW is the Sabu vs Funk barbwire matche was awesome but very few bits standout

    I dont get the love for ECW. People got hurt didnt get paid and 90% of the wrestlers didnt get anywhere in the wrestling world.

    You can tell Paul Heyman is a great promoter because he convinces his workers they can feed their families with adulation.
