Having had experience of motorhomes etc... and also how insurance firms operate... My thoughts would be as follows: In my mind I would want the insurance company to put me back into the situation I was in prior to the crash... and would ask that "they" source you the same van as you were in.. (if that is what you want of course) put simply the insurance companies have a lot more contacts in the trade and can easily source you a replacement van at the same price as yours was worth... Ask them the question ...can you get us a replacement van... ( which they should be able to do and also for them it would be a lot cheaper than what you could due to being in the industry... trade deals etc...) if they say yes... all well and good... if not the exact model... give them say 4 variants around the same design and monetary value... You paid already for your insurance and this is what insurance is for... you should not be running around like you are... simple as... far too many times people in insurance expect and assume that the customer is " up with" how things happen within the industry... which obviously you dont... as you are both retired and enjoying retirement .... (they know this and at times play on your good nature as well..) so stand firm... do not under any circumstances accept the 1st offer... and any argy bargy lets say... simply say the following "I would like you to put me back to the position I was van wise etc as I was prior to the crash... including the add ons etc...." ( and breath..lol...) New subscriber... also lived 12 yrs full timing in the UK.... so know what its all about... Kind regards... Don...aka Yoki...
Hard to answer this comment Don. I would like to thank you for subscribing to our channel, and for going to all this trouble to comment. All the best to you Don.
Just look for the type of Van that you both liked, One will come up eventually, (not that I know anything about it....😂). Lovely chat, I love them. Xx❤
Get the post code go on to google maps and you can see where these motorhomes are. The good thing is you can drive yourself there at a click of the button. Plus if they have a garage with motorhomes they can send you video footage so at least you get a first impression and then if your interested go and have a look.
Yes, but the post code they gave was not where the motorhomes were, they were nearly three miles away Jaqueline. Good suggestion though, I am doing it right now on another location.❤
Hello Trevor, not too sure if you are still looking for a motorhome, there’s a dealer I watch on TH-cam called The Caravan Place (owner is called Mark) very reputable dealer and he’s currently got a low entry 2007 Burstner Solano T695 G Fixed rear bed £29,995, it’s also got access to a large garage under the fixed bed, he’s also got a website called The Caravan Place based in Wolverhampton and Staffordshire and it’s advertised on there with photos, may just be what you’re looking for, take care 👍
Hi there. 👋🏻👋🏻. When we were looking for a camper we visited a few businesses that were located on farms lol. We were really wary of them, put off because they didn’t look professional. Less overhead expenses for the dealer, so savings that can be passed on to a buyer. Check the business out, we have the Better Business Bureau here plus reviews posted by buyers. Your ‘dream RV’ might be there waiting for you lol. Happy hunting, stay safe and well. Judy🇨🇦🇨🇦
Sounds like you had a good time checking out the vans, finding someone close and you feel confident with is good progress, and to have already had an email from them sounds promising. Our good wishes are with you on your journey.lovely video look forward every day.
I'm so glad you are continuing to look for a new home and you have EVERY right to expect the very best. You know what you want and what you don't want...as does Pat. You'll find the right one. I'm certain of it. You find the best pubs to eat. Pat's pie looked delicious!
It's a challenge finding just the right van when our budget is low and its the wrong time of year to be buying. Pat's pie was lovely in that pub, but she wasn't impressed with how they cooked the veg, do they call it andante when it's not cooked, funny, but I preferred it.
Definitely a successful day Trevor as you are whittling down what not to look for against what you want and need. The farm place sounds like a hit and miss sort of seller with little attention to detail, perhaps using a farm location as Motorhomes do take up a lot space, showrooms are expensive to rent or buy. Onwards and upwards you will be "the" buyer before anyone else very soon.
Hi Trevor, sorry I am back at work, so I get your vlogs later. I have read your book, I started it and couldn't put it down. What a varied and interesting life you have led. You were a rascal as a lad/teenager, your poor mother must have been worrying about you constantly. My boy was a rascal like you, he is settled to a degree, he is an actor, artistic temperament. He is an avid reader, so I am passing your book onto him, I know he will love it. Thank you for sharing your life with me and anyone else who bought your book. Pat you are a saint, so young and stuck it out xx
Oh thank you Diane, so glad you liked the book. I sometimes groan when I recall some of the things i did as a young lad. There was more than my mother and father groaning about me, that is for sure. I would be interested in your lads opinion of the book. If Pat knew what she was letting herself in for, she would have run a mile, but I am so glad she didn't, or I don't know where I would have finished up.
Another great one, The Stansfield Arms is a lovely pub. I have a 7.2m motorhome and would like to downsize but I think if I was a van lifer I would find a van size, it would be more of a challenge.
The insurance people's job is to pay you as little as you will accept. Your job is to be FIRM in demanding that you be made whole again. You were innocent victims. You did nothing wrong. You should end up with a van exactly as good as the one that got smashed PLUS everything inside replaced with things of equal value. You are both very kind people (well - we know Trevor can be a little crabby but hides it well from the viewers😉) But you MUST demand what is fair from the insurance people. I know a lot of us are waiting to hear what extra money you need and how to send it to you. We like you just sitting at the table but trips are a little more entertaining. My connection to England is that my great great grandfather (George Stephen Conroy - an Irishman) was a tailor who made ceremonial clothing for royals in London in the 1860s - specifically the Lord Mayor of London. @@trevorpat-lifeontherun haha 😂 Maybe, but it's better to be safe than buy a stolen motorhome. We have put personal injury claims in, Pat has seen a doctor, but I have heard nothing yet. While ever we have the hire car provided by his insurance Co we are OK looking at vans, but when they take it back we will have to hire a car ourselves to go look at one.
The place at Skipton is shifting 50 vans a month, they are cheaper than a lot of places due to not having a fancy showroom. I always got on with Stephen and Mario when working up there but will say they are presented as bought and prepped after sale.so they dont always look their best but once Julie has worked her magic they look different vans.
To be honest Chris I thought I had come to the wrong place. First impressions are a big thing, and I didn't get what was going on, but then again, I am not street wise. Fifty people a month must prove me wrong.
