Always love some Strap-On videos. That Nirvana shop seems like the model of how a comic book shop should be run. There are definitely some great shops out there and definitely some bad ones as well and it is definitely not hard to figure out why some make money while the others struggle. Thanks for bringing us along on your hunt.
Hey Senior Goose! Cool to see you tour my old stomping grounds and see the shops that got me collecting. FCBD goes crazy in Knoxville - long lines hours early it’s pretty awesome. Grant from Nirvana is an all around awesome guy, when I lived there he always went above and beyond for me and if there was ever any sort of mistake no matter how small they always made up for it. Side note Comics Exchange has a podcast with the Owner and it’s definitely worth a listen!
Mr. Goose, when entering a comic shop, you ask the staff the right questions. It's important to know if they will work with you on price, how they price, and where they get their comics from. Of course, I rarely do any of that, so it was a good lesson for me.
Nice! I was Comics Exchange's very first customer many moons ago! And yes, they do have some great deals for FCBD, and I believe Mark Brooks will be there this year.
i love digging, but i recognized quickly that snake eyes was a place that it was not gonna be worth spending much time digging. That store def turned me off when i was there.
Next time you're near Knoxville, I highly recommend The Golden Age 1942 in Maryville. They usually have some solid keys and are all in all a great bunch of folks.
You and Gifted Rebels with Adam lawson are great for showcasing local shops. With some shops being unpleasant; being a shop owner they should be able to spot a big spender or knowledgeable collector and befriend them. Try and gain new clients. They only have 1 shot at doing that.
great looking shops! what we do isn't easy - tip of the cap to all the fellow LCS owners out there. there's a lot that goes on that customers don't see that we do to put forth the best product we can for you all.
Awesome video I love when you do these for this stuff its the best good camra angle I like how I listen cool video cant say enough.Theres one lcs I go to overpriced but the ower has a good personality and talkative so I still go when Im that way.Basicly $3 dollar books for 5 but everything is overpriced
Absolutely detest Snake Eyes store. Terrible customer service! Krypto and Comics Exchange are fantastic. Did you go to Golden Age 1942 comics in Maryville? You definitely should!
What you said about each individual shop is very true. I live here in Knoxville and you had them all pegged pretty well. Next time you’re in town also check out Sci-Fi City, and Brickhouse collectibles. Also another fantastic shop is Golden Age in Maryville. About 30 mins south of Knox.
That guy talking about the beserker stuff was just a speculator who got drunk one night and found himself owning a brick and mortar store it sounds like.
Snake Eyes wasn’t that bad….the worst I’ve ever been to was now closed Other Realms in Champaign, Illinois. Right down in campus town on Green Street. You walked in there and you were not a customer.. you were automatically accused of being a criminal. Owner was unstable as hell. There is a TH-cam video tour of the place.
Nirvana Comics is my LCS BEST OF THE BEST they really do go above and beyond for everyone and treat everyone like family!! They have been there for me in some really dark times and im so glad I get to call them my friends and family Grant the owner is such a great guy and really cares about the store and does everything he can to make sure it thrives.
@@presto111manBc if u look at the other reviews there a terrible business. They don’t know how to run an comic shop. Still though if you weren’t there you shouldn’t do that.
I like stores that put their wall books with all their other books. I take it as a message that they're more willing to negotiate. Some stores put anything worth $10+ on the wall and don't move off of it.
100% agree and that they arent small potatoes that arent willing to sell anything, and think everything they have is gold. Collectors/Hoarders that THINK they wanna sell but they really dont
I used to help out at Krypto, and when I worked id play comic related videos on that corner TV. Your videos played all the time since I'm a subscriber, so kinda shocked Rocky didn't recognize you lol. Caught him off guard, he never expected that.
I do the social media and co-host the Comics Exchange Podcast. Knoxville is blessed with an abundance of awesome comic book stores. Thanks for coming in and definitely come see us on FCBD
You were in my neck of the woods sticky! (I'm in Oak Ridge,TN) youtuber ReggieCollects from North or South Caralina now shops for his pull list exclusively at Nirvana Comics! So cool to see comic tubers video around my neck of the woods!😊 P.S. TN does not have state tax is why the big tax on goods & services here. Also I do not care for the guy at Krypto comics, is always standoffish to me and all about the $$$ more than customers to me.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We had a blast talking with you. Please come back through anytime!

I've heard nothing but good things about Nirvana

Best shop in the area, hands down, not even close

slabs being flipped through ASMR 😌
“Less personable” isn’t ever something I’ve heard someone describe Jonathan at snake eyes as. May have caught him on a bad day.

I agree the Animal Man first 5 issues are harder to find.
Great video. Am going to Knoxville to ride next week. Love the urban wilderness
Awesome books in that first shop

Thanks for spending your money in Knoxville, TN so we can get the huge sales tax to keep us from having a state income tax.
Yeah Snake Eyes is quite lamo, never went there much when I lived in Tennessee (2014-2019)
6:30 Dude, wear shoes when you’re in public.
j/k
Yes.. very gross
@@Ken-g1x4t Is you mad?
I like these videos of you going out hunting at shops.
What is the name of this first shop?
I like the vlog style vids dude!

Where is Thor 225?
Nirvana is a good shop and the mosy popular shop in knoxville, but ive always found them overpriced on everything.

i know everyone is different but after one sentence from that first guy i wouldve left. he cant speak english
00:31:52 I left a negative review on his Google Business profile!
Why would you do that? They did nothing to you. Not cool

A few of those shops are grading books that should never be graded. Interesting.
