Big thanks to Too $hort for bringing it! And thanks to everyone for watching. Be sure to check out and rate the audio podcast! applepodcasts.com/peoplesparty
I appreciate how Talib allows his guests to actually speak, without cutting them off. He adds value to the conversation, without feeling the need to overshadow the guest. Brilliance and great journalism.
All those interviewers are non educated fools, Talib knows he’s interviewing an OG who paved the Way for cats like him. For example Breakfast Club or whatever they don’t look up to Short Dog they just interview him and actually don’t give a shit what he got to tell, they rather wanna talk about the 120th Plastic Surgery the Kardashians had
I got chills knowing that this interview was ending. I wish this was another hour worth. I'm 49 yrs old and It's dope listening to this Oakland OG!! Hats off to The People's Party!!
Alameda, born and raised. Rooted there till this day. Too $hort influenced and raised a lot of people on his music! He has always been real, I'm a true fan! Thanks for the music $hort!!!!
Marvin Bennett But you cant tell that Blow the Whistle 06 album didn’t slap harder then a disrespectful step daddy, Money Maker Underrated Hit from that album
Great Interview. What Short left out about Oakland was not only was it filled with drug kingpins before crack hit in 86', but you had a strong balance of black progressiveness/consciousness too. It was Chocolate City West Coast. It had the largest concentration of Black professionals,Educators etc of any so called urban city outside of Atlanta and DC. #townbiz #townbiniz #oakland
*Short Dog, just like his brother from Vallejo E-40 is an amazing storyteller. He's adjusted to every era without abandoning what he's known for. Legend* 💯💯
I been listening to Too Short since 1987. My white accountant Dad was a huge fan down the road in the South Bay from Oakland. He bumped it in the car, at home sometimes(my Mom wasn't a fan, too nasty haha). I remember as a 6-10 year old sneaking into my Dads tapes and putting on the headphones on the tape deck and listening man. Its a part of my life as much as anything. Huge Respect from my family.
+Bobby mickey We used to Bump Short in Miami too, shit he sounded like he was from Miami when he rhymed plus the Parliament he played Too Short is a Legend!!!
@Jimmy Kruse that was the same tour where big daddy kane said pac and money were having orgy's with many bitches, only tupac haters or narrow minded people would think they gay because there is a picture of them on tour
Plus that picture doesn't look gay in all fairness, there on tour just having there picture taking, prob just smoking a blunt and getting ready to go out to the clubs
Too Short provided the blueprint to being a player back in the day. His style, talk, the whole cool, slow motion, big body Cadillacs, just straight pimpin' music. Dude is a legend for real! Much love for Shorty the pimp!
Too short is certainly right us men have to let theses females chooses us men because now days you can't even say hi without being considered thirsty by women smh.
I was 13 or 14. Now I'm 45 😁😁😁 it was bitches and freaky tells. And at the same time you had nwa. And can't forget about 6 in the morning police at my door.
I sell my CDs out the trunk too, Shorts a big inspiration to me. I'm actually paying my bills off it now and i know one day I'll make this a big business!
+Keith Taylor Myself as well he is only underrated from those who don't know better Cube, Pac, Dre, Quick, Uncle Luke,Rakim, UGK, Face,Willie D, Jay,B.I.G.,Kast, Talib Kweli, 8Ball & MJG etc all acknowledged this Brother!
Great interview. Talib is a great interviewer. He is Bryan Gumbel of our time. He give classic interviews. Too Short is a rap icon. Another classic interview.
In The Trunk is by far my favorite track of his and it's so dope how he literally describes it in detail here without hardly mentioning the song at all.
Heard my first Too $hort song in middle school...someone said that through a friend they got a tape on the streets of Oakland! One of the first that got me into rap.
Grew up on Too Short since the 80's I remember his music videos coming on Soulbeat the Black owned Channel. Wanted to give a Little history he said the Hells Angels and Black Panthers were in Oakland at the same time this is true the Hells Angels Oakland chapter was started by Sonny Barger in the 1950's back then East Oakland was mostly a White area with pockets of Black folks Latinos and Asians most of the Black community was in West Oakland back then but in the 60's and 70's as Blacks and other POC started moving to East Oakland White flight happened many white people began moving to the suburbs like Concord San Leandro Hayward etc.
Loved the episode, respect from Ukraine. Big ups for subtitles - this way non-native speakers can catch everything. P.S. At first I was sad to see VintageHipHopSeattle rebranded, but now I'm feeling good about the change thanks to this show being hosted here. However, is it possible to get a list of recently deleted songs from the channel, please? I am referring to joints like Brothers Uv Da Blakmarket - Livin' In Da Bottle and The Nonce - Mixtapes. I can't imagine my life without those two, and I'm afraid that me and other people might just miss out on something beautiful, which was silently removed. Thank you very much for keeping hip-hop culture alive. Peace.
From The Town. Thanks Talib for this interview I thought it was recent. Knowing it was 3yrs ago so much has happen. Short coming out with a movie. Shock G and DMX died. Black Panther 2 came out in 22. Hope there's a follow up. Black Power
I love everything about The People's Party. So much culture and the LEGENDS telling stories. I enjoy hearing all the NOTORIOUS BIG stories. Giving all these LEGENDS their flowers now 💐💐💐💐💐. Tell Talib Kweli he has the flyest hat 🧢 collection I've seen.
I know this is going to sound weird but these are my two favorite rappers of all time. lol. When I was a youngster it was too short all day. And as I got older I evolved into kweli type sound

Marvin Bennett But you cant tell that Blow the Whistle 06 album didn’t slap harder then a disrespectful step daddy, Money Maker Underrated Hit from that album
@Marvin Bennett it's still a too short joint. you can't tell it's a lil John track.
Too Short is a true legend for a reason. Another great interview.
