Corinnaaaaa!!! You are TOO FUNNY with your titles!! And as soon as I saw the title I RAN RIGHT OVER because I know you're gonna talk about all my faves!!
OMGosh! I forgot all about Pearls, & Lace. I had that back in the day, & just loved it! Thnx for showing it. I may have to pick some up, if I can find it. :)
Lol I am one of those people who doesn't like the term "granny scent" or "old lady scent". People in the fragrance community tend to use these as negative. So my preference are words like "classic", "vintage", or if used in a more negative sense "dated". Would love to see more videos like this ❤.
Aside from Jean Naté, you are the reason that I started getting curious about vintage fragrances. I love how you put it: they weren’t wearing these as “grannies”, they were the young women when they started wearing these! That’s Jean Naté to me, it’s my mother as a young woman with small children.
I adore these vintage style scents! In fact, I would rather have these than newer releases, in most cases. I truly want to smell like this, even though I had no granny who wore them and am not one myself. I haven't yet smelled Pearls and lace, but Avon classics in general are divine. My recommendations include FAR AWAY, TIMELESS, and CANDID. They aren't trendy and Timeless is even rather unisex and even niche by today's standards. Just wonderfully interesting and enjoyable. :) Thank you for this fine review.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I love me a granny scent and already adore some of these. Gardenia went right on my to-buy as I'm also a sucker for a good gardenia and that plus granny? I can't imagine it'll do me wrong. Some of my favourite granny fragrances (which really are some of my favourites overall to be honest) are Youth Dew by Estee Lauder and Aromatic's Elixir by Clinique. I think AE could definitely hang out with Ciara granny for sure. And YD is just bliss for me. I have the bath oil version and so little goes such a long way but it's so good. Thanks for the video and congratulations on 100!
Carinia Carina!!!! I just got my Adam Levine (because you influenced me) and I'm over the moon in LOVE with it! I wish I could explain why...it just speaks to me. Thank you so much!
I love old school scents!! I love smelling either like a French grandma or rich auntie from the 80's. Plus, you get all the interest and richness of niche at a quarter of the price. Also congrats on 100 videos!
❤ this video! 🎉 Granny perfumes! I'm in my 40s & think Femme Rochas is SEXY (my husband loves it on me, too); yes, I get warm, dry fruit, patchouli, & animalic florals. Rumba is next on my list!
First of all, congratulations on 100 videos!! I've enjoyed every single one of them and looking forward to another 100! So last year I just knew that these types of fragrances and videos about them would become a trend, and I think we are on the cusp of it right now. I do have to say that I'm also one of those who doesn't like the term "granny/grandma scent" or "old lady/man" because of the way it's used as a derogatory in the fragrance community in general, so like nataleigh7037, I too like to call them "classics" or "vintage" fragrances. But I'm afraid the "granny fragrance" term will probably stick with younger women. I am old enough to be a great grandmother, so my grandma's were from an era a little further back. My grandma wore Youth Dew and my mom (who is 89) wore Chanel No. 5 for really special occasions and for less special occasions she wore White Shoulders. I loved fragrances like Charlie, Jontue, Poison and Obsession, and I still love them. I have recently seen several "most hated perfumes" lists and some of the classics were on them - like No. 5, Poison and the biggest surprise to me was Shalimar, what?!!! I was shocked!!!! I adore Shalimar! I think you are right that oakmoss primary fragrances feel dated to some, also floral "melange" fragrances with primary notes of carnation which you mentioned, also hyacinth, jonquil, lily of the valley, a certain rose type, or lilac. And because of the recent penchant for "clean" fragrances I also think that animalics can date a fragrance as modern fragrances tend to not include them very often - especially like civet or dark, "skanky" musks as in Shalimar, No. 5, Bal a Versailles, Tabu, Knowing, etc. I would like to tell those who don't like classics because they smell "dated" that if you layer a classic with a complimentary modern fragrance (or even another classic) the combination becomes elevated and it smells niche without the huge price tag. I love the classics on their own, but I also love to layer them because the results are amazing! :) Layer your Rochas Femme with Tocade - not on top of one another, but in different spots. Or Passion with your White Diamonds. Ciara is lovely with a raspberry body mist. White Linen with Anais Anais or other Estee Lauders like Estee, Pleasures or Private Collection...... Thanks for another great video Corinna (is this how your name is spelled?), and here's to many more!
Thank you, again, for your thoughtful comments. I’ll definitely try some of your layering suggestions. I like the idea of Ciara with a raspberry body mist. My name is spelled “Corina.” I keep meaning to flash it on the screen the way I do sometimes, but I forget!
@@MyPerfumeMap Thank you!! I have seen it spelled many different ways and I needed to know for sure :) I rarely if ever wear fragrances alone - only if I'm testing them. Otherwise I layer with creative abandon. I know some don't like to layer, but me, I have to be different, haha!!
Congratulations Corina! 🎉 One grandma past away wearing Cabotine by Grès at the hospital and the other one wore Trésor by Lancôme as long as I can remember! I think Poême would be my granny scent. I wore it in my early twenties though 😅😂
Omgosh Pearls and Lace! Haven't seen it in years. One of my very first fragrances.😢 Brought back so many memories. So bummed out when it was discontinued. Congrats on your 100th video! Thank you for this video.💖
Great video Corina. I'm so happy I found your channel because girls my age (early 20s) are always talking about the latest perfumes and wearing those viral perfumes that you can smell on any girl at school. They’re all the same. But I love old school so I’m so happy I found your channel again and again🥰. By the way I can add Dana’s Chantilly and Elizabeth Arden’s Blue Grass to this list💋 I think they’re great gramma scents too.
Awww i love these videos. I keep seeing videos of massive hauls of new perfumes on you tube right now and i find it hard to relate after a while. It all gets a bit overwhelming. Thankyoufor giving us inspiration for enjoying and exploring what we have ( and what we can afford!!) . x
I love the way you describe perfumes and inject your personality and humor in at the same time. I've been dabbling in some of the old school perfumes, some hits some misses. It's kind of a bummer that they don't smell the way your remember them. I remember a lot of my granny's and mom's fragrances and i think they influenced me more than i realized. My granny's fave was Chanel #5 and mom wore Cinnabar. My most successful recent purchase was LouLou by Cacharel. Congrats on 100 videos and we are glad you put yourself out there!!
At age 59 I don’t mind Granny Perfumes . I like the vintage scent along with a few of the newer ones . I have White Linen by Estee Lauder a large bottle . I have a few Estée Lauder Perfumes . Also have Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds ,Diamonds & Emeralds ,Sparkling White Diamonds & the newest one From 2019 White Diamonds En Rouge I got this one very recently . Would love to get Gardenia ., Have Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt which came out in 1981 I was in 10th grade and this was my first really serious fragrance . Back then it was medium priced today a big bottle is very affordable and it still smells as Au remember it at age 15 -16 years old in 10th grade wearing this . Such a unique feminine scent for the very early 1980s .,
Tocade is in my fragrancebuy cart right now. LOL I did a Ted Lapidus video. He was a designer famous for The Beatles and Brigitte Bardot wearing his stuff. Ciara, when I worked as a waitress as a teenager one of the other waitresses came over and told me MY perfume was "turning her boyfriend on". LOL!! It was CIARA!! Yes I launched Passion when I worked behind the counter way back when I was in my early 20's. I got TOLD by a very old lady I tried to present the fragrance to. She gave me a dirty look and then said angrily, "She (Elizabeth Taylor) stole Eddie Fischer away from Debbie Reynolds". LOL!!! The potluck potato, pea salad soooo funny! Congrats on ONE HUNDRED VIDEOS!! And I have found a fragrance that smells like White Shoulders, it's Olivia Blake Citrus Blossom, I found it at Winners in Canada, which is Canadian TJ Maxx. However I can't find the fragrance anywhere else at all. I can find Olivia Blake stuff but not Citrus Blossom???
Great to see classic fragrances reviewed here..and NOT the same old designer affair that EVERYONE seems to rehash...I have the Gardenia by ET, beautiful bottle BUT..this to me smells like sticks of butter, anyone feel the same ?..PS Jean Nate was soooooo in my household & mom was an Avon Lady back in the day. she also wore Emeraude :-)
Ohhh I love these types of perfumes. White Shoulders is a favourite. I would love to see your Avon collection. Thanks for sharing your beautiful assortment.
I love these types of perfumes!! I’m so over the “sexy” screechy smelling fragrances being marketed to us everywhere… it seems more tacky and gaudy than anything. I think that while they can smell very sexy, they don’t have the sensuality of the old school perfumes. And I’ve gotten to a point where my attitude does the heavy lifting and something rich, sensual, and soft like Chanel N°5 or Passion just naturally elevates me without going over-the-top!
I love white linen too. It reminds me of 1979 when I first smelled it. It takes me right there. Passion to me has an incense groovy kind of a smell. I feel like if it were a new scent now it would be niche avant guarde type of scent.
I still have my mom's Ma Griffe and my aunt's Panthera by Cartier ( the old black and gold and glass bottle) and her Salvador Dali perfume from the 80's - in the lip nose bottle
I have and like -White Shoulders (because Lucille Ball was supposed to have worn it) -Gardenia I have and love 💕 -Passion -Ciara I am very curious about -Femme -Tocade I really enjoyed this video 😊
I love my granny perfumes too! I had Pearls and Lace; I went through 2 bottles. I'll have to try to track some down. I also had White Shoulders and White Linen. Some great fragrances mentioned. Ciara sounds up my alley, may have to look into that one too! Congratulations on 100 videos!
I recently picked up Windsong and I like it if I spray lightly. There's an underlying gasoline type smell that L'air doesn't have. Both very similar though. I love classic fragrances. 😊
I have a few flankers of Quelques Fleur L'Original. I picked them up at Costco years ago when they sold perfumes. I keep them because they smell like my grandmother. The perfume goes back to 1912...the year my father was born. Talk about vintage and a granny perfume...that is it to me. 😂
Ciara was my first fragrance right out of high school. I love fragrances with spice notes even still today. Overwhelming florals...not so much. Soapy has to be in control.

My favorite granny perfumes are Shalimar, Emeraude, Bal a Versailles, Tabu, Youth Dew, Aromatics Elixir, and Obsession (though I think of Obsession more as just classic spicy, animalics tend to read old school now).
I agree, Poison is timeless, the original vintage formulation (I don't like the reformulated version as much). I can't see it described as granny or dated. 😊
I have a bottle of Passion that was my mother's & I hate it. Not my style at all. Jessica Simpson, Fancy Nights is another one I'd lump in the same category. Too heavy for me but we all love different things and that's okay. 💜

This video is exactly why I love your channel. I absolutely Elizabeth Taylor’s Gardenia. It smells like morning dew on flowers. Thank you Corina! 😊❤
Avon had some really nice scents in the 80’s. Wish they’d bring some of them back! I still use some of the scents you highlighted in the video. 😊
I love all the Grannys!!! I just got a vintage bottle of Ciara, and it is smoking good!!! 🔥 Way better than the new. Smooth and buttery! ❤
From where did you bought vintage version of Ciara?
@manasithakur7437 An Antique Mall local to my area. Happy hunting! 😁

ET Gardenia is a great scent. Wind Song is my signature scent. I’ve wore it since I was 13. Seventh grade.
I recently picked up Windsong and I like it if I spray lightly. There's an underlying gasoline type smell that L'air doesn't have. Both very similar though. I love classic fragrances. 😊
I wonder if windsong has a calone note. Sometimes that smells like gasoline to me.
80’s Perfumes. I can smell 👃🏻 through the video

Can white shoulder be blind bought?
If you like florals and Oakmoss I think you will enjoy it. It was 11 dollars when I bought it so look for a deal!
Yes, just spray lightly. If you use too much it seems to overpower. My grandma wore it. I love it. I will be 62 in December.
Dennys? Lenny's? My grandma only took me to Arby's. And she wore Opium. But I catch your drift. 😂
She actually used to take me to a place called “Po folks” but I don’t think anybody would know what I was talking about.
To me opium is what your cool rich auntie wore, lol.
