Yes the Dana company scooped up Love's Baby Soft and I think Heaven Sent as well. Yes I think Chanel #5 was a cologne in the beginning and I LOVED it but then they came out with EDT and I can't wear it now it makes me sick. Great Chanel backstory, thank you! Have you ever smelled Coty's L'Origan? That was divine and quite similar to original Chanel #5. My mom wore it and I can't for the life of me find a bottle anywhere! Great video!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁
Listening now, so interesting. I love all things vintage, so learned about Barbara Herman through her vlogs, then a dear friend turned me into her line w/ Antoine Lie. I am usually kind of cheap but I looooove + respect the whole ERIS line (especially Green Spell + Night Flower)… so much knowledge, love, and a hint of rebellion goes into it all. On top of that, my interactions with her have been so lovely. She’s a gem, and I think approaches her line as an historian. Yum yum you have such goodies here.
You are the sole reason why I have put my big-girl pants on and ventured back into vintages. After the late 90’s/early 00’s of trying Chanel No.5 and my grandmother’s White Diamonds... I scrubbed and quit! I’ve since learned that the dry down of these vintage fragrances is often where the magic happens!
Another stellar video Karina!! Thanks so much for the book title/info. My library does have it so I'm getting it inter-library loan! I like hearing about the oldies. The new scents are just expensive and, in my opinion, many are over-rated. They are too viral and who cares. There's a reason that the scents you talk about are still around...because many are amazing and always will be. I used to wear Toujours Moi back in the...maybe the early 80's. I just knew that I liked it and could afford it. No drama, just a very pleasant scent. Thanks again!!
Le Lion has an animalic leather note for me that makes it a bit challenging to wear. I like it a lot but have a hard time with it for that reason. Thanks for your thoughts.
Sadly Emeraude is discontinued now, as with most of Coty. The price has shot way up. A 20$ from a year ago is now 40-50$. It breaks my heart when classics go out of production. There are so many perfumes that young people today will never experience because they’re dying scent profiles, through regulation, unavailability of ingredients, and just the overall proliferation of gourmands.
@ yep a couple sites that used to have it still have active links, but when you click it says out of stock ☹️. Whenever I have trouble finding something I go to Parfumo and check. Their perfume descriptions, unlike Fragrantica will tell you if it’s still in production or discontinued. Several classics from Coty have gotten the axe unfortunately.
FANTASTIC!! What a great subject! I must try to find that book! Excellent commentary on what 'Niche' is.

I haven’t tried L’Origan, I’ll keep an eye out!

Try 4711. It's WAY older. It's very affordable and the formula hasn't changed.
Starting to really dig your healthy intelligent approach to perfume. Glad I found you

Liked right away - history and perfume - fun

Bring it back, Coty! I can still see it on Walgreens for 16 dollars but I haven’t ordered it from their site.

Thanks for sharing your perfumes 🙌🏽🤩
Your vintage Emeraude EDC is from the 1970's - my aunty had the same bottle.
Thank you!
@@MyPerfumeMap I was with my aunty when she bought it at the May's department store in Queens (about 1970)
How cool!
Love this lesson on perfume !! You are so good at this !! Love your knowledge!!
Thank you so much!
Your thoughts on Maxims? It's one of my favorites because of the scent memory. I wore it in the eighties when my son was little.
I don’t know that one. I’ll look it up!
I remember that one! I also loved Diva by Emanuel Ungaro and Magie Noire by Lancôme. I tried them both recently-absolutely nothing like I remember 😢
