- Finally getting the paint down on the boat. I have been wanting to get this done for a while, but resources, manpower, time and never having done some of this made it difficult. Hope you enjoy my custom paint job.

Your boat is looking great. Can’t wait to see the final product!
Thank you. Now that this is done, it’s all downhill. Lot to do, but it’s all build. No more tear down outside of drilling or cutting a few holes here and there.
i painted one they look great at first but it don't last long it scratches really easy
I do try to be careful around the docks. It does have a hefty coating of diamond clear coat on the bottom which has helped a lot. I do plan on getting it wrapped in the future though which will protect the sides better.
Did you hookup the metal flake gun to a regular garage air compressor or did you have to buy an airbrush compressor?
Regular garage compressor. I had an in-line regulator installed just before the gun.
Did you use topside paint for the bottom or top
Topside paint for the whole thing. She comes out of the water after every trip. Base coats of primer under, then topside paint followed by 2-3 layers of clear. Then I did the 3 layers of metal flake and clear to finish it off.
On a old painted bass boat do you have to primer it or can you just sand and paint ?
The primer I used helps keep blisters from popping up in the fiberglass as well as a waterproof barrier. There is a different version for aluminum as well. I always suggest a primer on anything outdoors that you want to keep in good shape. It helps the paint adhere better.
What size flake is that?
I used a 0.025 flake.
But all the hard work into never seeing it. Ok I suppose
