    I am Italian. This game is my childhood.
    I didn't understand a word of English ... at the age of 5, however, I couldn't read.
    This game is a masterpiece.

      I'm German and could also not understand a word of English back then, and I also enjoyed this game very much.
      It is the perk of being simplistic games, but still difficult enough to really get into them.

    Finally found this game! Back in the early 90s, I played it when I was around 7-8 years old. The cover of the box looked so tempting (cool) and usually that's how I bought the few games that I owned for my SMS II. Unfortunately English wasn't my mother's tongue (Germany), therefore I had no idea what I have to do to make progress. Geez, seeing the first minutes of gameplay makes me nostalgic for seeing this again! Too bad I could never enjoy it to the fullest...

    This game actually looks excellent despite it being a Zelda rip off. It does Zelda justice better than every other rip off. I also think the Golden Axe series should make a comeback in the Zelda or Guantlet Legends style, now Sega knows how to take formulas without ripping stuff of and they even make it much better when they come up with a new way to do it like the Phantasy Star series.

    Right, so today I'm playing Ultimate Genesis Collection for the Xbox 360, and I decide to buckle down and unlock Golden Axe Warrior. I start it up, watch the opening, and am surprised to see that I have to create a name. After that, I see the first screen and I say out loud "It's an RPG!?"
    A pleasant surprise.

    • @littlefieryone2825
      @littlefieryone2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Oh, I have. Got through the first, but it's hard to stick to the second. RPG's tend to piss me off sometimes, and this one did it ten times over.

    • @littlefieryone2825
      @littlefieryone2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** You've got more spine than me. I might have grown up with a system that had no save features, but if I'd been given an RPG that wasn't as simple as Pokemon, I would have torn my hair out.

    • @littlefieryone2825
      @littlefieryone2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I don't know. Maybe you and I just have different genre favorites. I'll give any game a try, but platformers and/or run and gunners can hit me in the heart. I grew up with the first two Sonic the Hedgehog games, plus a number of other third party titles. Then there was Super Mario Brothers and Contra for the NES and my Oma and Opa's house. And God knows all of those games had their own challenges. So I guess my short patience for RPG's is just how alien the can be to me.

    • @littlefieryone2825
      @littlefieryone2825 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Maybe someday I'll say to myself that I suddenly feel like giving Phantasy Star 2 another shot. Hell, maybe I'll finally beat it (albeit, while perhaps googling a few answers, yes I'm ashamed). Until then, it was pleasant talking with you.

      @ForGlory 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +shaolinlueb This isn't a Zelda ripoff, THIS IS ZELDA only with a facelift! There is no way around this. If it weren't for the gimmicky iconic Golden Axe monsters and elements, this is just another Zelda title swapped at birth. I NEVER SAID I WOULDN'T GET AND PLAY AND LOVE THE GAME, but that's all beside my eloquent point about it being a verifiable Zelda game (XP counter over mithrswd's head).

    • @ForGlory
      @ForGlory 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      PineKushDude Not proven, and totally baseless. The gameplay is not even close. For instance: in Zelda you don't lose your sanity trying to get PRETTY MUCH ANYWHERE in the game much less level up, whereas in Zelda you can fight in a way that is both friendly and fun. BIG BIG difference!

    • @ForGlory

    • @kramalerav
      @kramalerav 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it was released in 1991 when the Sega Genesis had already been out for two years in the States.
      Unless you were in Latin America or Europe, the Master System and its games were at best completely irrelevant and at worst non-existent. As had been the case since 1989 just before Sega’s 16-bit system came out. Not that Sega of America and Tonka did a very good job advertising the SMS games before even that.

  • @MaleOrderBride
    @MaleOrderBride 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This game is interesting in that alot of the sound effects/images were used in other Sega Games! The teleport square sound is the same as the teleport from WonderBoy 3 Dragons Trap. The jumping treasure chests with mouths were used in Donald Duck Lucky Dime Caper Egypt level. The floating bat enemies were also used in Alex Kidd Miracle World. And the enemy destroyed symbol was used in Psychic World. I love the crossovers!!

    Awesome longplay. Well done. The only things you didn't complete, which aren't a big deal, is getting the heart piece that's at an inside lake in the forest area that you use a canoe to get to and of course getting your fire magic to level 2 by speaking to the princess after getting all 9 orbs. I thought you were going to get the magic by saving up there and using the wings, but you didn't in the end.

    Is this different from the 1st Zelda at all? I can see lol, but just wondering if there are obvious differences. It looks fun and I'm going to try it.

      It was released in ‘91 and looks only marginally better than the game it was ripping off, which was released in 1986 for cryin out loud.

    Hi, this thing is AWESOME! I have a question, while playing GAW, there´s a dwarf who asks if one has a Golden Apple, I bought it, then when I went back to him, he told me "you already have that" and in a gameplay I found, he says "you come here to steal my things..." what is it about then? Thanks!

    In dungeon IV, at around 49:40 something interesting is noticed... shoving a bull man into a bat made the bat stop flying around to get it easier. Then, at around 49:50, a floor spike extended under another bat, stopping it from flying around. I'm wondering if this was an exploitable tactic for the bats, or just a coincidence.

    I'd like to know where to get a bot like that cuz I've been into romhacking for quite some time and I've never heard of a utility like that.

    I had this. I played it over and over. It wasn’t that hard once you start figuring puzzles out and how easy bosses were! By the way, is ‘t this Gilius Thunderhead in his prime 😂 Nostalgic

    Holly fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck...so this was a lot of the inspiration of Zelda 'Link to the Past'... Ive just did a massive week-long research of videogame evolution from consoles to PC's to consoles again and 99% of all games borrowed gameplay elements off each other! Zelda took from a Coleco console game Arkanas and a lot of RPG's took from the original Wizardry game and the Dungeon Master game. Even Pac-man isn't original! But when a game blows up in popularity, people think the gameplay is new.Anyways, I didn't know about this game as a kid, and im pissed off! Time to do my first playthru of it to get revenge on my childhood!...lol

      I highly doubt LTTP was inspired by Goldenaxe, as the base gameplay is at lot more similar to the original Zelda, expanding on certain elements. Goldenaxe Warrior was released in 1991, and is a clear ripoff of NES Zelda.

      That's a no-brainer. You watch about any Sega Master System game and it's a Zelda II copy with a few gimmicks of it's own. But that's to Zelda's credit, I'm still amazed at how good that first game was!

  • @Yuuretsu

    Well, you can't blame them for trying, Zelda is Nintendo's 2nd best-selling franchise and this game is actually pretty good.

    If you go to him before you've earned the dwarves' trust he'll just worry about you stealing his golden apple, but if you defeat the boss and earn the dwarves' trust he'll give you his golden apple if you don't already have one.
