Interesting to see you check this razor out. The KCG was my first DE razor purchase when I started this hobby. The head design seems about the same as the Merkur 34G which I bought about a year later. Both razors give me a good shave with a Feather blade. But I never liked the handle on the KCG. Maybe I'm just a klutz but that handle is down right slippery to me- even the knurling doesn't help much. So now when I want a mild razor I reach for the 34G or an Edwin Jagger.
Most people bad mouth the KCG blades because they are made in china, but the ones I’ve been buying in the white tuck are the best blades I’ve ever used, but as with anything that is subjective. Also plumbers silicone grease is good to use on the threads.
Hey Chris! Nice shave with the KCG! To me, it's a nice mild razor for a day's growth. Have you added any vintage razors to your collection lately? I recently have added a Ronson self stropping razor (beautiful condition) with the case, also in terrific condtion, a 1934 TTO Aristocrat (found at an antique mall!), a Shake Sharp razor in NOS condtion with case, a D 4 Fatboy in fantastic condtion, and a vintage Gillette Old Type with the fancy, vertical ribbed handle with the case at an antique mall. All were at great pricing!! I have been very fortunate!! Cant wait to see if you add anything new! Thanks for the video! JimG
The KCG head is good and seems to be based on the Merkur head (going by it's shape) but I do not like the heavy handle and swap it out, my understanding is the head is made in Germany of Zamac and the handle is made in China of Brass. I quite often can pick up a KCG razor for AU$15 (about US$10) on special in Supermarkets here (it's actually listed for that price today in Coles), very strange they cost so much in US, it's certainly the best Supermarket DE available here. Take care Chris👌🤠👌
@unclelshaves Thanks, Lawrie for the info .Wow, $10 .Also, thanks for recommending I try this on a while ago. Next budget razor im thinking I'll try is tto Baili razor you recommended.
Ballistol ballistol.com/ its a very old multi purpose oil I have been using gun oil a long time. it smells like licorice. I don't use on nickel or gold plated razors/firearms because it can lift the plating .

The new Gillette Platinum are made in CN, so it's probably those.
I agree with your assessment Chris. Overall, it’s a good razor for around $15-$20.

You put what into the handle threads? Not know what I hear there, and the transciption feature is showing "uh ballast all".
