Gem Push Button Shave For SE Sunday
มุมมอง 190หลายเดือนก่อน
Thanks for joining me for another shave. Today's shave was with a gem push button razor. I also got out some vintage Colgate shave stick from the 1960s. The brush I use today was my vintage ever ready bore brush, Dickinson's witch hazel for post shave, and lastly, I used Avon Wild Country for aftershave. The shave was good 9 out of 10 for closeness. Hope you all have a good week and happy shaves!

Wilkinson Sword Classic Budget Head Shave
I always enjoy a lather catcher shave. I would be interested in a modern lather catcher being produced.
Amazing find Chris!
Thanks for the shout out CD 👍
Just watched a YT Channel where the gentleman honed up one of those old wedge blades. Yours looks to be in great condition. What a find !!!
Dude! What an amazing find! Great job dude. I love it!
Great find Chris!! Enjoy it well! I recently found last week a Gillette Sheraton with original case in great condition for just $4!!! Couldn't believe it! I also found a whole jar of shave products that included a Fat handle Tech, Contract Tech, a Gem Micromatic, some Gillette blades dispensers, some vintage Gillette blades and some Ever Ready blade banks. I got all of that for just $24! Thanks for sharing your find!! JimG
I’ve seen a seller on Amazon try to sell a puck of Williams for $45 🫠
@@eddieberlingeri4257 Wow!
Nice shave Chris. I too am looking to purchasing a Heritage razor.
@@bwmacho9461 Thanks!
Awesome shave Chris! Lookin great broham.
I have 1 old Williams and 2 new Williams left. All new old stock.
I actually got a year out of 1 puck of Williams using it like a shave stick😊
Love Williams soap, but they will never bring it back full time. Original price too cheap. Quality of soap was practically high end for it's time. A puck last too long to be profitable in these times we live in now. Would like to see them bring it back temporarily atleast for a anniversary or something.
Hey Chris! Great shave with some classic products! I just purchased a Gillette Bostonian, gold version, with the original case that raises the razor when opened. I only paid $60 bucks for it! It also has the original blade bank too! I can't wait for that to arrive next week. As for some antique finds, I found a beautiful 1913 pocket edition Gillette Old Type razor with original blade bank and beautiful case! Perfect patina too! Mine has the long ridges along side the handle! No cracks nor bent teeth! That was a lucky find. The others were just a 1912 Gem with a metal wall mount stand, a 1956 Superspeed and a Gillette WWII Contract Tech. All are in great condition!! Great pricing too! Don't give up on your antique shops! You'll never know what shows up!! Thanks for the video! JimG. P.S I am so glad I purchased over 70 pucks of Williams Mug Soap!! It is super pricey these days!!
I love the heft, balance and level of aggression on The New Improved. I know what you mean about the Merkur Futur. I don't own one but I've got a Parker Variant and I think I feel the same way about it as you do the Futur. It shaves OK but it just feels awkward and clunky to me even though I lot of folks love it.
Good to see you Chris!
How many blades does this metal lord have please
@@manarmabrouk4271 it comes with one Lord super Chrome blade
Nice shave Chris. I’m going to try that handle hack.
Nice looking shave with that early GEM👌🤠👌
@@unclelshaves thanks!
Razor Blades Club allows customer to buy 1 single blade of any in stock if he wants.
@@10floz30minutes thanks
Nice one Chris. Inspires me to get out my 1924 which I haven't used in a long time. Its one of the patent pending ones so an early version with the full size handle. In fact I just looked it up and it is a 1919 "shovelhead" or at least that is the Etsy description. Anyway, Gem razors are a great change of pace from the double edge world.
Hell yes brother! Fantastic shave my man!
Very nice shave Chris, good old Arko I love it. Have a great day Atb Paul
@@shavingfox7914 Thanks!
Good video Chris. I just used a Segal this morning. It’s open combed and gives an awesome shave. The blade mod is not fun though.
@bwmacho9461 Thanks, I've seen a few around locally, but always in bad condition. I will eventually come across one in decent shape, how do they shave are they similar to an old type?
@@CDinVT they shave way smoother than an old type. The blade mod is tricky but worth the effort.
The vintage stuff is absolutely awesome bro, you do a great job talking about the history of it as well, and should be the heart of your channel. With that being said, there is a place for modern razors as well. How about a mixture of both, vintage and new...would love to see your take on a lot of razors.
You can do both, shave and collect. Fatboy is in a case stored. But I use the FBT tech and Slim.
Good one Chris. Have a great week buddy👌🤠👌
@unclelshaves thanks, Lawrie!
In these Inflationary Times. HERE IS AN EASY WAY TO DO IT MY FRIENDs Use any hard Bar Soap, Tallow or Glycerin based Soaps out there? To fit in any Mugs or Cups? Like" (Mitchells' Wool Fat or Arko Sticks. Just to name a few of them?) You can mix and match your old Soaps? Cut up the soap on a paper plate, pour your soap chunks with the shavings from the Paper Plate into a Mug, cover the soap with a small amount of water, and microwave your soap. For about a minute or so? Place a paper plate under your mug in case it bubbles out of your cup? If it foams up, STOP. The water keeps it from burning itself up. (DON'T OVER WATER YOUR SOAP??) Easy, does it? Let cool don't want to Crack the Mugs or Cups you're using? (You just want it to Congeal in your Mug or Cup') it is very hot and watery'''''. let it cool in . PLACE'. after it cools, put it in a Sunny Window, until the Soap hardens? When using your soaps, use Dry Brush Less Water. It thickens the soap, making it easier to use on your face. Save your Money, spend it on your wife, don't listen to the shave Mafia. It saves me time and Money. Happy New Year. Your Mileage may vary? Wheelchair Larry

Hey buddy watching from Canada
So curious about the Lilac Vegetal. Heard the Pinaud Special Reserve and the Musk are wonderful. I have the Bay Rum....in my opinion is pretty good, but the original scent is better. Just my opinion though.
The Special Reserve is a very strong and powerful scent. The only bottle I ever gave back to my barber.
Beautiful shave brother. Love the GEMs. Lookin great my man.
@@JaronPope Thanks!
Hey Chris! Do you own a Rockwell 6S or 6C? I just ordered the limited production 24kt gold Rockwell 6S! It is pricey at $250 but they are only releasing 500 total. I can't recall if you owned one or if you do, if you did a video on it. If you don't own one, I would highly suggest it! The 6C can be purchased around $50. Those Gems are really good shavers! I have many models of them. As always, thanks for the videos! JimG. P.S If you want to try a great barbershop soap and aftershave, try Fine Clubhouse!! You'll love it!
Nice shave and really nice watch! Did you already give away that Treet razor?
Just curious, have you tried any electric shavers? and which one you like the most.
@@challenger516 no I haven't in a long time, I tried tried a Philips three bladed one about 15 years ago and it didn't work for me. Check out Paul the Shaving Fox he's done some recent reviews on some
Very nice Chris, I bought two razors from a car boot sale so I will be using them soon both brand new in the box, it’s the first time I’ve ever seen any 😂 Have a great week Atb Paul
@@shavingfox7914 thanks paul, that's awesome you found something local!
The old type is just a workhorse of a razor. No frills just gets the job done.
Hey Chris! I just picked up a WWI set in terrific condition! It came with the mirror AND the two thumbtacks! The razor is in great condition! I got a great price too! I also picked up the same razor at an antique shop by itself, no case. They want ridiculous pricing for these razors, so I am fortunate enough to have two! If you can acquire one, do so! They are becoming even rarer now. Thanks as always for your videos! JimG
@@JimG7755 Nice finds, will do .

Hey brother! Lookin good my man! Man, I just picked up a Old Type, and man, its aggressive. I wasnt expecting it. Used a lot less pressure and was super careful and gave me a great shave.
Best way I found was getting a shower mirror and shaving your head in the shower, so much better in everyway.
Very nice pieces! Sorry for asking, but would you be willing to let one of them go?
Thanks! Sry, I gave my extra one away to a shave buddy
@@CDinVT I figured. Well it's good that someone gets to use it. Thanks for getting back to me. Shave on!
I2ve got the gold plated version of the Futur.
Love the Atra!
Nice one Chris good shave. I was looking at trying cremo but over here it’s expensive from amazon it’s about £12 for a small tube, so I shall not be buying that 😂 Have a good week Atb Paul
If you have a TK Maxx near you (in UK), they sell Cremo there on occasion.
Never know exactly what you'll find at Dollr Tree. Just need to check them once in a while and see. I found and bought BIC Sensitive3 disposable razor, one and a half dollar each, which works very well for head shave. Check in other dollar-type stores, too.
Nice Gillette Atra Plus I Have a Red Gillette Vector Plus 😊😊
