SO needed a new video today! My Godmother passed away Wednesday. We're skating tomorrow as a tribute (she loved to skate when she was younger and she was very close to my children, even video taped the birth of 2 of them for me) so...we'll be BEGGING the rink to play Old Time Rock and Roll if we have to!! (Most family's prefer Kool & the Gang's "Celebration" for weddings, graduations parties, etc. OTRaR has been my family's "party anthem" since I was 5...when the song first debuted.) Trying to be happy - I know she wouldn't want us to wallow - but skating with tears might be a bit difficult. Doing it anyway!
Thank you...and yep, she didn't want anyone to be sad when she passed and she actually rented out a whole restaurant - fully paid for by her - for after the funeral, with a band! That's just how she was. She truly believed life was a party so....we're partying! :)
@@sejiel1143 Thank you. We did have a blast, though. Got to skate - something she loved. They played "her" song - we skated and were fine until the end...we went up to thank them and both me and 2 of my girls ended up crying THEN...as we explained why we wanted them to play it. Then we even got Chinese for dinner - one of her favorite foods. Pretty good Tribute Day over all. :)
I’m very sorry for your loss. My Grandmother passed away last January and I will always be so grateful for her love in my life. There’s nobody that loves you the way a Grandmother does.
Thanks for staying up late and starving to teach us how to spin 💜 great basic starter spin video! As much as I'd love to do the fancy stuff I needed to hear this and start small and get this down. Thanks!

@@Dirtydeborahharry That's OK DD, we still love you!!! Seriously, its not just the carbs. Skating concentrates a lot on the hips, thighs and butt because that's where you carry your center of gravity. When I was speed skating, my thighs were like tree trunks.

@@Dirtydeborahharry thank you❤❤ I have a question, I should probably ask it on your wheels/skate video, but eff it, I'll ask here. If I have $50 skates, would I be able to take off the wheels, and put better ones on, or should I get new skates all together?
🤗Top of the morning to you, young lady 😁. Hip Hip Hooray! for the very best skate tutorials. I am living my best life! On the elliptical preparing for this afternoon's skate practice. Thank one for sharing as always!
This is a lot more elaborate than a previous demonstration I watched. I don't think I'll remember all that, but it does look more like an impressive way of spinning on skates.
Omg, I did it! I haven't been able to spin for so many month, and suddenly I did it after watching this. Thanks a lot!!! No one explained to me that I can put my weight on one foot. I thought I have to put my weight equally on both foot for a 2 foot spin and it didn't work at all.
Love how you explain everything. Love your personality shining through! Definitely the best videos on rolling!!! :D Just got my skates in after a season of ice-skating now making the spring/summer transition, can't wait to get started again after a 30 year break :D
Hello, I am from Pamplona, Navarra, Spain, I wanted to thank you for your teachings. Since I practiced it in the form of scissors and strengthened my legs and stability, I also started to turn backwards, the turns scare me. I hit myself against the ground but I am consistent with the practice so I am confident that I will be able to do much more, thank you very much💋
I love your tutorials. I literally followed along with you through the whole video and in that short time I can do a full spin at least once and it is fluid. I will keep working on it to get consecutive spins.
I’ve been practising the heel together toe together, but I haven’t actually tried spinning because I can’t quite get what to do with my feet during the spin. When you spin it just looks like your feet are almost gliding around so I have to admit I’m a bit nervous to try! Ps. I love your videos ! A lot of TH-cam skaters do a lot of flashy moves and fancy editing with no real training so I treasure yours !!
First off … thank you for your kind words. I appreciate you watching and support. When you first start "heels then toes" you will start gaining speed as you pull your arms to your chest. In order to continue to build on that momentum, just pull your arms in tighter and lift your body weight up through your core area thereby lessening the weight that is actually down on your skates. You will start to feel your feet "lift up". At that point … just hold on and go with it. You will feel all of your energy pulling in and up. One foot will be balanced on the toe and the other on the heel.
Mimimerow , i get all of what your saying...sometimes we just need to not over think it and let the body do what it wants to do..lol put some fun music on and just get playful in a easy space to play in..relax go easy and playful.Smile while you skate. just keep doing the exercise that Dirty DH shows us, practice the baby steps and before you know it , your doing it like clock work, remember to enjoy the journey of rollerskating just like everything else in life. gotta put the joy first.:)))) Have Fun:)))
