It is an in-place upgrade so you should not lose data but as the documentation specifies, you should ensure that you have a valid backup as a first step.
Hi, in my video, the rhel server that I upgraded with leapp was connected to satellite. My satellite server is connected to my RHSM account and I added the appropriate RHEL8 baseos and app stream repos, sync'd them and enabled them on my rhel server using an activation key.
For people trying to upgrade without rhsm. When creating the custom repos at /etc/leapp/files what are the urls for the baseos and app stream I’m supposed to use? I can’t get any info on these in the docs
Hi, I want to update from RHEL 7.9 to 8.8, but now days current latest version in 8.9. and 8.9 is will be end of support same day as rhel 7.9. But RHEL 8.8 has support till 2025. I have to do inplace upgrade to 8.8 from RHEL 7.9. Is if possible ? How to do it ?
Yes, you can do inplace upgrade from RHEL 7.9 to 8.8 until EUS support ends 2025. You need to make sure the RHEL8 repo is for 8.8 in your composite content view. And you can use this flag with the leapp command: leapp upgrade --target 8.8
learned alot here Norm thanks for the update
That was a detailed explanation.
Thanks, Norman.
