Similar thing here. The lawyer asked if I had a problem sentencing a "fellow human" to be put to death. I replied, rather quickly, "None at all." I was back home in half an hour.
She would have been a good juror but unfortunately she needs her job. It is understandable why she is not on the jury. If she was in a high paying job or unemployed or self employed, then she could have been a juror.

I was once called for jury duty in a medical malpractice case. When they found out that I had a PhD in Biology and had taught college-level anatomy and physiology, neither side was interested in me and I was excused. That is the peculiar thing about our system of jurisprudence. It is not interested in coming to a just conclusion. It is only interested in winning and losing. If I had been the MD on trail, I would have wanted a PhD in Biology on the jury. But lawyers want a jury that will believe what the lawyers say without having the knowledge or judgement to assess their words independently. Lawyers want a jury of moldable clay.
Yeah anyone with a modicum of knowledge of a crime like this place is unlikely to be picked. Both sides want knowledgeless jurors so they can influence them. That's why say anything tech related, like an Apple vs Samsung case, they basically want jurors to still have Nokia 8610's.
That's what my college professor said, they don't want people with brains, they want people who they can sway with emotional appeals. I have a Master's degree, so I only got to be an alternate juror. A lot of times when both sides' lawyers walked in front of me and were looking at me, they quickly looked away. I think I scared both sides' lawyers. LOL
I've always wanted to do jury duty because I would be the perfect juror. For some reason (fear of authority?) every other person enthused wildly about how they were happy to be given such an opportunity. When it was my turn to answer, I said 'well no, I'd rather be at work." I was dismissed immediately. I thought that was kind've ironic, the process basically screened out the only person in the room who wasn't lying.

Everyone tried so hard to pleased the judge and lie about how they were mistreated by police. I am the only one dare to say I have great experience with the police. The evil judge kicked me out of her court room right away!
That’s just a hangover from English law, where there are still, nominally two classes of “His Majesty’s Loyal Subjects”. Nobility (lords, earls, dukes etc.) and commoners (Sirs, Dames, Mr, Mrs etc). Nobility are tried in the House of Lords by the other “Peers”, while commoners get a jury of commoners. In the USA, you did away with that class split so every adult is the peer of everyone else. In Britain, today, it makes virtually no difference, in practice, though being, say, an Earl might get you listened to, a bit like being a Kennedy, or a Bush would do in the US.

In fact, I’d argue that they’re more likely to be held to account, than the super rich in the US, because the Lords, as a body, tend to take a dim view of one of their own getting caught out. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying there’s no corruption in the UK nor, that having high powered lawyers, won’t affect the outcome you can expect, but the judiciary in Britain would have squashed Trumps behaviour long ago. Any attempt at witness intimidation would have been jumped on and he’d be awaiting trial in one of His Majesty’s Prisons, by now.

I’m a bit confused why she was dismissed. She stated that it would be difficult to be a part of this jury because of her job. If every jury consideration was made on the potential juror’s career, most would not serve on a jury. I don’t believe that was the reason she was dismissed. Due to all the media hype for more than a year, it will be IMPOSSIBLE to find impartial people for the jury. But, that is why the media hyped it in the first place.
In a city of 8 million people, it should be relatively easy.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH You couldn't find an impartial jury in the entire Western world of ~ 1 Billion people.

@@prettyblackgirl Oh, you're such a dreamer. If only that was how jury selection actually worked. The fact is, lawyers choose jurors who they believe will support their side. Failing that, they choose those whom they think are easily manipulated. I was dismissed from JD by a prosecutor whose question I answered with, "It depends."
Similar thing here. The lawyer asked if I had a problem sentencing a "fellow human" to be put to death. I replied, rather quickly, "None at all." I was back home in half an hour.

I’ve been called for jury duty and they told us that work is not a valid excuse for dismissal. My guess is it was something else or something very specific about her job that excused her.
Like if she worked at CNN
Such a huge amount of time is gonna be so wasted in this court case that it will cause a huge burden for a normal working person to serve.
And it WILL eventually be overturned, even after he is convicted and sent to jail, just as is now happening with the J6 “convicts”. There is no prosecutable crime.
That is really sad!
Aren't you supposed to rule based on the evidence presented at trial and not your own knowledge?
Knowledge is beneficial for understanding/evaluating the evidence. That's just common sense.
LOL

The audio engineer must’ve been doing a major cringe waiting for that motorcycle to get out of range. 🥴
I was in the jury waiting pool for a couple of days, and almost every person seated around me was bitching and complaining about having to do jury duty, and what a burden it was. Then we were all marched into a courtroom, and questioned. The first question was "would you be pleased to be on this jury"?.
I was on a jury pool for a pain and suffering civil suit. When asked how I felt about it by the plaintiff attorney I responded, "People cause me pain and suffering everyday, I don't sue them." Dismissed.
Out of all these comments, yours is definitely the most real and honest. The others seem like trolls trying to bolster this pathetic situation for what waa once the greatest justice system we could have faith in; to be impartial and fair. No more.

Everyone tried so hard to pleased the judge and lie about how they were mistreated by police. I am the only one dare to say I have great experience with the police. The evil judge kicked me out of her court room right away!
Yes they typically seem to prefer liars -- those who will say other things On the Record.
A defendant has the right to a jury of one's peers, does that mean that the jury has to be crooks, assaulters, liars, etc?
Cmon man really?

I didn’t say there was no class system in the US, just that it wasn’t formalised as it is in Britain, where members of the Peerage cannot be tried in a normal court. They still get put on trial.
