@N-light-end-1 Any decently managed airstrip is actually pretty clean, anything on the runway can get sucked into an engine, damage a propeller, or upset a small aircraft rolling down the runway. Debris no matter how small is very dangerous to an airplane. Depending on the type of propeller, some can be fixed from a chip, others have to be replaced if damaged and that's nothing short of a $10,000 replacement of a prop. A prop strike bad enough means also replacing the engine as well, there's another $35-45,000 Turbine engine repairs and overhauls cost almost as much as the engine itself. Keeping runways clean is no joke.
We do that almost every weekend in the summer here in Sweden. Old airfields no longer in use. Even Koenigsegg has their own airfield just outside the factory here. There are loads of smaller airfields that got forgotten after the cold war and petrol heads here uses them a lot 😎
