    Pam if you ever have pesky hair on your watercolor brushes, like the one you first opened, I suggest wetting it and using aloe Vera gel to hold them down to dry. It barely leaves a coating behind, and it will come off once you wet it again on your next use. It won’t hurt your brushes and it will help train the hair back down to its original shape. I do it all the time and I also do it with my makeup brushes.

      Thanks for the tip! I've been using the brushes for a few weeks now. I did just wet it initially and it was fine.

    The leads in a drop clutch will really last you a while (unless you're dumb like me, and you grab it to write on a box and break the damn thing LOL), I'd recommend buying some lead pointers though--the cap is okay in a pinch but there's no way to empty the stupid thing. It WILL leak graphite. The little tub pointers are fun and work best, but you can buy a set of 3 tiny ones for on the go for like...5 bucks.
    Oh, and if you buy the Mars Lumograph leads, the packs will come with a little cap (without a sharpener, if memory serves) that will allow you to color code your pencils as to which grade is in them. As a weirdo who color codes EVERYTHING my cheap and effective solution is to buy the tiny rainbow rubber bands meant for tiny girls' hair/braces/bracelet making. Someone who is neat and always puts the tool back in order might not need the system, but I am chaotic and there is no order to my life. My pencils end up in a jumble and it's so much easier to look down and see a pink band and know that's the HB.
    My first drop clutch pencil is an ANCIENT Staedtler Tecnhcio that I found jammed into a knitting book I bought on ebay LOL. I actually have a new set of them coming today, because I packed my other set away in anticipation of a move that is....taking longer to accomplish due to circumstances out of my control. They are awesome. I also have a set of ones that have standard mechanical pencil advancement--so if you like the lead and get on well but aren't a fan of the drop clutch mechanism after you try it, that is an option! They take the same lead, they just advance incrementially instead of letting the whole thing zoom out if you aren't careful.
    And after this novel, I will also mention that Polychromos and Graphite play REALLY well together. And a black polychromos is great for getting few really dark touches of BLACK that graphite can't reach.
    And now I am looking forward to when you publish your own coloring book in a few years!

    Congrats on your haul! As with colored pencils you will get addicted to watercolors as well. I do a couple of years ago. I suggest you practice brush strokes and color mixing on a bit cheaper paper. Arches is so expensive so I save it for when I am ready to paint a scene. Good luck!

      I have been practicing brush strokes and coloring mixing all week. I did use one sheet of the Archers paper and started a couple drawings and almost done painting them. They turned out great. The paper makes a huge difference. I am addicted to watercolors already!

    Great haul Pamela,I've recently started experimenting with watercolour too so I'll be keen to see any swatching, or colour mixing of the Daniel Smith colours as I've seen them recommended in a few videos. I've tried a few different budget sets of watercolour paints but the higher quality Winsor & Newton paints I have definitely make a difference,and getting them as open stock means I can build upon the original box set as needed. I'm also experimenting with different quality watercolour papers and the higher quality cold pressed cotton 140 lb./ 300gsm are better for wet on wet, but the lower budget watercolour papers are fine for experimenting with mixing colours and trying out different brushes. I feel it's such a waste of the more expensive papers until I know what I'm doing. I recently got the full set of inktense pencils in a sale from derwent and saved over £100,and recommend signing up to their emails to take advantage of the huge savings they frequently offer. I've also got the derwent waterbrushes and use them in conjunction with your Inktense videos,which are very helpful. I also use springhill paper on your recommendation for my colouring with a whole range of pencils and it's my favourite now. Thank you for your great videos and tutorials they have inspired and helped me over the last 3 years. Have a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for the New year. :-)

    Pamela I know you love the Posca's so do I but have you tried the Tooli-Art acrylic paint pens? I think they are awesome! They come in so many colors and are cheaper. I am obsessed with them lol ! I wish I could send you a set so you could see for yourself.

      You can find my printer here: amzn.to/3PcYRBJ It's actually on a great deal right now on Amazon. I always keep a link to my printer in the description box and also to all my favorite/essential coloring supplies. Just thought I'd let you know in case you need the info in the future. I have already been enjoying all my new supplies. I spent the entire day with them yesterday and learned so much with my watercolors. Have a great day!

    Will the micron go over prisma. I'm still having difficulty with other writing tools like sharpies and regular pens from not getting clogged up. Will these do the same?

    Hello Pamala, can you share which printer you use to print out on watercolor paper, I’m going to assume its a laser?

    • @PamelasPassionforPencils
      @PamelasPassionforPencils  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's not laser, but it's wonderful. I have had it for a couple years or more and have never had an issue. It prints on all the thicker paper including my watercolor paper. You can find it here: amzn.to/3PcYRBJ It's actually on a great deal right now on Amazon.
