Thank you so very much for your detailed review of these watercolor pencils. I was looking for a budget friendly option and you have just added the extra push for trying them out. I recently purchased the set of 72 on Amazon USA only $17.99 and I love them… they dissolved so easily and work so well with coloring books especially the JB small victories. Thanks again ❤
Hi Wendy! I really enjoyed seeing this video. WOW! What a difference in price. The Artisto Watercolor Pencils allows colorist like myself, to have a full set. There is no way, I can afford the Faber Castell A D's. The Colors are very close to each other!! Thank You for the Comparison! 😊💜
You are welcome. That it why I do it. I realize our budgets don’t allow for always buying the top of the line. I personally feel they are very nice. Especially given the price difference. Glad you found it helpful! As always thanks for visiting .
Yes I misspoke about them not being the top of Faber Castell line. My apologies. I do love them💕just looking for alternatives for those that can’t afford them.
Thank you for the review I also have the full set of Albert Durer and I just love them.. as I’m in Australia I had a look at those pencils on our Amazon they are expensive they come from USA.. I’ve left them in my cart and see if they go on sale as for budget pencils they are expensive.. thank you for sharing Wendy ❤❤❤😊😊😊xxx
I thought the Albrecht Durer was FC top of the line watercolors, followed by Goldfaber Aqua. I’m looking to get some watercolors, and I can’t decide on which to get.
You are right. I said it wasn’t but I was thinking carandashe museum aquarelle. Sorry. I love my albrecht durers but they are not cheap. I would recommend them if you can afford them. The artisto are good for the price
If you want good artist quality pencils I suggest the Durers.. the Museums are lovely but the set is only 72 and I don't think it's worth the $$$ price. The Supracolor are very similar to the Durers only more expensive and harder to get open stock. Durers are the least expensive of the three and sold in most locations. I own all three, so I have experience with each of them.. they are all nice but the Durers are the best quality for money. Get the largest set you can comfortably afford and then starting picking up the rest open stock. If you can only afford a few or want to start really small to just try them get some open stock of good usable mixing colors.. a warm and a cool of each primary, and burnt sienna will let you mix just about anything. If you want a few more go for a couple of ochres/browns, good earth greens, a warm and cool gray. Most 12 or 24 tins don't contain the most useful colors unfortunately (the Museums are an exception there, their small sets are excellent in color selection). I personally will not buy non open stock pencils anymore.. by the time you calculate how much it will cost to buy another full set every time you run out of your most used pencils.. and with only a 72 set those main colors don't have many alternatives.. plus what do you do with all the others you have multiples of now? If you are just starting out by all means get Goldfabers which are affordable and open stock .. and match the Durer colors.. so they are a very good alternative starting point. I know a lot of people who want to try watercolor pencils, buy something not great, and decide they hate them.. without realizing they never really tried decent product. Good watercolor pencils perform well wet and dry, blend well, dissolve easily, and don't leave a nasty film from too much wax or filler.

The artisto are a great budget watercolor pencil
Thank you Mary! I agree completely!
do yours keep breaking?
No I have not. I would reach out if more than one pencil is experiencing breakage.
