    The Hebrews are now free from Pharaoh’s army and headed to Mount Sinai, also called Mount Horeb throughout the Bible. If you search online or in a variety of Bible atlases, you will find a dozen mountains identified as Mount Sinai. Which one is correct? One of the challenges with identifying locations from the past is that names can change, and established traditions can obfuscate actual evidence. Similar to how we identified the most likely candidate for the Red Sea crossing in the previous episode, we will go through the clues from the Bible and compare them to what we find in the field to help identify the most likely place for the Biblical Mount Sinai.

    Extremely well laid out. Many thanks for your work putting this together. I would love to see someone put a presentation this thorough together on other proposed routes of the Exodus. I have seen bits and pieces, but nothing with this much detail

    I bought a burning bush from an advert in the Daily Mirror newspaper a long time. I let it grow somewhat in the front garden and on one hot summer night I lit a match and held it by the bush, the bush started burning flames but the leaves and the branches were not burned. Mount Sinai was a small active volcano at the time, the Israelis travelled by a white cloud by day and a red plume of fire by night. The heat from the volcano set the bush by Moses on fire, dramatic for God to speak. In the film the Ten commandments that say that the top of the mountain is on fire. God is there.

    I hope the watchers realize that the mountain of God has been located. With altars at the bottom and the top. A place for Moses to speak to the crowd. And a rock on top that was cracked to pieces with calcium residue on it. Wonderful find, got no press at all.

    I'm grateful that I found this series. I hope you make more. Why aren't we hearing about these places and finds? As soon as you mentioned the black burned rocks, the first thing I thought about was God coming down as it's written in the Bible. I really enjoyed listening to you. Thank you. God bless.

    Great series. I have agreed with the postulations presented here for decades, as would any serious bible student. Within the law, circumstantial evidence has been adequate to free or condemn men in many cases, and I think the circumstantial evidence here is certainty substantial and compelling. I only wish that in your summary you had not said the phrase, "there is an error in the bible... it's in the atlas". I understood the your intent, but there are myriads who would love to stand on that phrase as a reason to doubt the Holy Writ of God. God bless.

    • @evidence4faithofficial
      @evidence4faithofficial  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      (Editor Charlotte here): the quick answer is that with no other evidence, finds, or inscriptions to verify the origin or dates of the pillars, it can't be 100% concluded who put them there, where they came from, or what their purpose is. So it's interesting that they are there but we can't say much else about them. The pillars at the Mount Sinai location in this video have the benefit of being together with other finds which makes them more likely to be the pillars from the Bible.

    Where is Mount Sinai?
    The devout Christian Apologist and Egyptologist, professor James K. Hoffmeier in a video posted to You Tube, confessed to his audience that he had failed to identify Mt. Sinai. He noted over a dozen proposals, but all failed the test.
    What was the test all Mt. Sinai proposals had failed?
    Professor Hoffmeier said only the presence of pottery debris from circa 1446 BC or 1260 BC would be acceptable in identifying the sacred mount.
    _He found NO PROPOSAL, including various mounts in Saudi Arabia (the land of Midian), had this pottery debris._
    Hoffmeier, concluded that identifying Mt. Sinai, was not all that important after all, it was the message of what happened there that was important.
    Because there is no pottery debris in Saudi Arabia (Midian) of circa 1446 BC or 1260 BC, Mt. Sinai in Saudi Arabia, has no archaeological evidence for being Mt. Sinai.

    The Saudis could create a special economic zone around the entire Jabal al-Lawz site and have a joint Saudi-Israeli commission that would manage all issues, construct passageways similar to the ones at Yellowstone to prevent damage, a port down opposite Nuweiba, modern hotel, airport accommodations and of course, tourist center stocked with souvenirs. The amount of money made from this would be absolutely insane. Instead, they fence off the area, prevent anyone from accessing the site, and hope that everyone just forgets the whole thing. This attitude is the classic definition of sheer stupidity.

      Wyatt wasn't always wrong. Some things he "found" where already discoveries made by others. His theories on Noah's Ark and the Ark of the Covenant are where he started to go loopy. There is no Noah's Ark, nor was there ever one, and the Ark of the Covenant is most likely in Ethiopia.

    This "rock at Horeb" does not fit like a hand in a glove. In order to force fit it, he must change Mt. Sinai into a whole range of mountains. But neither Gebel al Lawz nor Ron Wyatt's Mt. Sinai are visible from this unusual rock formation. This rock is not at the top of a mountain, but in the middle of a wide plain. Note also that the rock of Exodus was not at Rephidim, but at Horeb/Sinai. Only the elders went ahead with Moses to the rock and the water flowed back from Horeb to the people at Rephidim. This split rock is eight miles NNW of the proposed Mt. Sinai and the altar and golden calf site are three miles to the southwest. Water from this split rock would flow north and west, away from Mt. Sinai; it would not supply water for them while camped at Mt. Sinai. This supposed "Biblically derived" itinerary does not show where the Israelites camped by the Red Sea AFTER leaving Elim. It also has the Amalekites attacking at a Rephidim far removed from the Amalekite homeland and far from a point where they would have been much closer to the Amalekite homeland. The structure here called an altar is in a valley and neither Gebel al Lawz nor Ron Wyatt's choice for Mt. Sinai is visible from that location. The area of darkened rocks is not just at the peaks of the mountains but extends eight miles to the west and twenty miles to the southeast. There are valleys that could carry streams from the mountains, but the valley in which the supposed golden calf altar is located does not receive water from the mountains, but from the south and east. To get the golden calf or its remains from the altar site to a stream coming down from the proposed Mt. Sinai would take a trek of about 2.5 miles. There is a cave nearby, but just because there's a cave does not prove it was Elijah's cave. Many mountains have caves. I believe the Bible's account of the Exodus is true history, but my studies lead me to conclude that this route and this Mt. Sinai are incorrect.

      And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and *pitched in Rephidim* and there was no water for the people to drink.
      {Exodus 17:1}
      ...
      Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
      {Exodus 17:6}
      ...
      Then came Amalek, and *fought with Israel in Rephidim*
      {Exodus 17:8}
      In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.
      For *they were departed from Rephidim* and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.
      And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel.
      {Exodus 19:1-3}
