Important takeaways from this game: - Harass timings and leveraging advantages in lane - How to correctly roam and use mid priority - Playing out the sidelane as a mage Any questions let me know here or come ask me on www.twitch.tv/shoklol !
I love how real you are in your videos, you don’t just post videos where you are hard stomping the lobby, actually learn so much because you are showing scenarios we are in most often. Wish there was an ADC content creator of your caliber.
If you want to know what you're expected to do in the game, you can watch sykko's video or jackspektra's streams where he walks through his thought process about what to do with waves, how to approach 2v2 trades, etc. Granted, AD is hard to teach because most of role's skill expression comes from teamfighting where there are millions of hard to notice micro optimizations you can do, walking the thin line between damage output and survivability. Watching KR pros like Viper can help, top eastern ADCs in general are insane both when it comes to teamfighting and lane mechanics
Thanks for all the great content! You are one of the few content creators who doesn't tilt and flame teammates constantly which makes your streams amazing to watch!
Besides some minor mistakes from you not on your main, I think this game seemed pretty straight forward, Zeri kept getting big but that roam bot and adding pressure to get them ahead was just a smart move by you. Thats probably the difference between a proactive play vs letting your sides bleed then having nothing to play around. WP!
Personal experience: if the situation was similar to that soul-point moment and voli and vex both had tp you [playing vex] would still want to match voli. Ideally you would wait to see if he teleports to the dragon fight (if he does then you'll want to match his teleport), if he does not teleport to the drag fight you would want to continue to match him. As Shok said having teleport basically means you want to be away from your team as much as possible, meaning you want to do stuff that your team cannot easily do (my interpretation). In this context this means being able to stop Voli from taking top inhibitor (and possibly a nexus turret) since the rest of Shok's team is contesting dragon and you always have the option to teleport to the dragon fight. Teleport TLDR: Teleport is for moments where you want to be 'two-place-at-the-same-time.' In the context you've mentioned you would want to match voli and be at dragon at the same time. Let's look at the other situations: - voli has teleport and vex doesn't You would want to consider if it is worth defending an inhibitor and a nexus turret (or both turrets) or secure dragon and just go to the objective you want to defend. Voli will guarantee to gain something because he has the tp advantage. If it were me in the situation I will choose to match volibear if he has tp and I had no tp, since we can give a drake (we have 3 drags they have 1). What this means is that voli will likely push the wave and teleport to dragon while we have to catch the wave and hope that our team backs off at voli's teleport. In this scenario we likely have to give dragon since they have the numbers advantage due to teleport. - voli doesn't have teleport and vex does (see video) As seen in the video, you want to match the volibear on sides and consider teleporting to the dragon fight. The problem that Shok has in the video is that Vex might die if Shok pushes the wave far (since voli can likely solo Vex), hence he doesn't teleport to the dragon fight. Shok also has confidence that his team can win the fight (so having teleport didn't really matter in this situation). Ideally if you have a champion that can solo against volibear you want to push the wave far (let's say around river) and teleport to drag fight to secure the soul. From the last two examples, what may stand out to you is that extra choice that having teleport gives to you. Vex is still weak to Volibear in the side lane, but the side that has teleport can determine what plays they want. Let's see what happens if: - both you and voli don't have teleport This is similar to the choice of Voli has teleport and vex doesn't. If you don't see voli on the map you have to decide wether to defend top inhib or fight for drag. The volibear will have to make the same decision. You can draw a chart for this: * Voli Top and Vex Top: You guys' match top, nothing happens, the fate of the dragon fight lies within your and the enemy team. [neutral outcome] *Voli Top and Vex Drag: You lose inhibitor and a nexus turret or two, hopefully you win drag with the numbers advantage and are able to teleport back to stop voli from destroying your base. (Enemy team would problably want to stall your back should this occur so that their Voli can take your base) [neutral outcome] *Voli Drag and Vex Top: The worse-case scenario for you, you watch a wave or 2 and your team fights drag with numbers disadvantage. [bad outcome] *Voli Drag and Vex Drag: Just a standard team fight for soul-point drag. [neutral outcome] The only outcome that we problably want to avoid is the 3rd outcome, hence we would want to go to drag if we are unsure where volibear is. **Disclaimer: I'm not a challenger nor a pro-player, nor do I play vex regularly, but this is what I'd do if I had teleport** ❤ *Why did I spend 30 minutes on a YT comment🤦
I started winning a lot more games just by buying gold efficient items that you recommended such as doran ring, black seal, refillable potion, tier 1 boot etc...Very strong to snowball in lane as vladimir.
Hey Shok amazing video as always, I'm the Kat otp from your last vid and I had a few questions. 1) in the early game Ahri roams bot and you choose to stay mid because your bot lane is already losing the fight and they're outnumbered. Would Katarina also stay mid or would you choose to move? 2) Katarina has no chance of matching the splitting Volibear top as she would die, which would allow Voli to take everything, what do I do in that case? Do i join drake with my team allowing him to push?
I think katarina would move, you want to get involved in fights as often as you can Maybe ping someone else to answer and just group, it's kinda just a fucked situation for you though
hey great vid shok! just wanted to ask about sidelaning. i was sidelaning vs garen as ori and it was a stalemate, i cant poke him out & if i walk up he chases me down. i was stuck at turret the whole game and no one else wanted to match him. what should i have done?
Question, how do you know when to split vs group during the mid game? I normally side lane and group whenever objectives are up. Is there a way to be more pro active about it?
While I agree autos matter, autoing as vex after landing E is kinda bad as your Q is free when they are feared and it does alot more damage with the gloom. If you auto it cancels out the crit damage
Push the first 2 waves with a 1-2 creep advantage, as soon as you notice the 2nd wave won't crash before the 3rd wave arrives, start spam autoing until the 2nd and 3rd waves both crash under turret

So glad I found this channel. entertaining while being informative. Also so real for showing your mistakes and admitting them.
Remember someone asking about this in twitch chat either yesterday or two days ago, cool to see a video about it now

What if I'm the one forced to use cooldowns to get CS ? Should I just back and lose XP just to be back full health ? Or just wait under turret ?
Ideally let the wave come to you, or try not to be in this position to begin with
Great video,, appreciate the insights!
Very educational, thanks!
at the end of the game at the soul point if voli had tp would it still be better for you to match him or what? what would be the best macro possible?

Probably just have to stay in the side holding the turret until a fight starts and then TP to it, but ideally your top laner takes over from you
Question, how do you know when to split vs group during the mid game? I normally side lane and group whenever objectives are up.

Typically try not to be grouped with TP up, unless dragon is spawning in the next minute or so

Comet is good in ranged lanes to build a bigger lead for 1st and 2nd bases, elec is better for skirmishing though
