    Survived a Type A Aortic Dissection Jan 7th 2020. Spent a month in the hospital UNC Chapel Hill after being rushed to the hospital. No pain just fell to the garage floor while changing the oil in a vehicle on a lift. My entire Aorta is dissected. 5.2 cm at this time. Lucky to be alive.

      Glad to hear that. My sister also had the same thing ☹️ and she survived thanks god. How old are you? Did you find out any genetic disease?

      My brother is 19 years now post aortic dissection, he now needs to go for a second op for repair of the aortic in the AMC University hospital in Amsterdam, has anyone been through a second aortic repair?

      I had syncope episode, passed out in garage sitting on stool. Told I have intramural tear/hematoma of 5mm on my aortic arch. Had zero pain or symptoms and no medical history. 53 yrs old. They can't 100% relate my syncope episode with my tear. Kinda scary knowing that is there. Spent 3 days in Cardiac Intensive Care Unit on Cardene drip to lower my BP. Home now with perfectly normal vitals and wearing heart monitor for 3 weeks. Going to use meds and managing to try and heal "spot" on my aorta. Trust and prayers to my and all of our future appoinments.

    My partner is still slowly recovering from aortic dissection type A an also he has type B or the start of it, he is being monitored every month at the mo for changes, don't ever want to go thru that experience again was so frightening, I felt so helpless other than to keep him calm until his surgery, I will never get the picture of him with all the tubes etc attached to him out my mind.We live in wrexham but couldn't get him into broadgreen (Liverpool), so had to be blue lighted to Blackpool. I honestly can't thank the staff who spotted it in the wrexham mealor and the staff in Blackpool hospital enough for saving his life. He is only 45 but doctors said his age helped him bounce back so quick. THANK YOU NHS from the bottom of my heart.

    My step mother attended A&E twice with horrific pain in her back under her shoulder blades. She was sent home with no investigations and given simple analgesia. She was found on the living room floor having had a massive internal haemorrhage from a descending aorta aneurysm. She was 50, no senior examined her.
    I just hope the junior doctors that examined her learnt not to ignore her symptoms ever again.

    I survived a type A &B dissection, aortic aneurysm, and Aortic valve rupture all at once. Total hand of God miracle I am still here and doing as well as I am. All of my specialists say no one survives all of them at once.

      I also survived an A & B aortic dissection. I had open heart surgery to replace the aorta with a synthetic graft, replacement of the aortic valve to a mechanical valve and also had TEVAR surgery to place a stent to resolve the descending aortic dissection. I’m alive thanks to my heart and vascular surgeons! 🙏🏻

    Thank you for this video! It helped me understand aortic dissection so much better. I’ve been a nurse for 32 years, and I have only seen two people with aortic dissection. Once it happened to a family friend, I became very interested in the various types.

    I worked at a level 3 trauma center ER and an ambulance came in with a patient with 10/10 chest pain and nitro was not helping it. She disclosed she had Marfan syndrome but did not disclose (until 1-2hs after arrival) her recent cocaine usage. After putting the pieces together and additional imagining, she was rushed to the level 1 trauma center across the river for an aortic dissection. Crazy stuff.

    I was chopping wood in the forest when I felt a rip and then became sick. After helicopter ride to hospital I was told I need surgery. It was estimated that I would possibly die at 50% . I said let's do it and after an elephant trunk and arch surgery I am left with the dissection tear disappearing down to my abdomen aorta. I feel like I'm going to live as my recovery is going good. It's been almost 2 months

      I'm in Cali now homeless but need to be available for surgery at Stanford University . They say I have blood still getting into false lumen and AAA stints through groin. Wow what a crazy ride it's been . I have family here but they are worse off then me mentally so I'm ok being in my van down by the river. I'm very lucky I have Dr Jason Lee from Stanford working on me and I'm in the best place for what I need.

    My dad had one of these not too long ago, was on a step ladder cutting the neighbours tree branch with me holding the ladder underneath. The branch came back and knocked him about 8 feet onto his side breaking his ribs and shoulder, he was taken to hospital and had horrible care for the first few days but was transported to Bristol and got the care he needed. Apparently he had less than a 1% chance of survival.

    My sister is recovering from her second aortic dissection. She had a type 3B aortic dissection. She required an aortic open heart surgery, they replaced a large section of her descending aorta with a Dacron mesh tube. I have never seen such an intense procedure, I can only imagine the stress and pain she was exposed to.

    I was under the impression that this dissection can also occur in the Brain, is this correct?

    • @liamwelsh5565
      @liamwelsh5565 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No the aorta does not extend to the brain. Other arteries (maybe only one, I'm not a doctor) which extend from the aorta supply blood to the brain.
