I'm impressed with how tidy and organised your plot is - I could learn a lesson there!

Looks nice, thank you for sharing! Im getting stuff ready for my ohio grden as well. Supposed to have tons of rain this week so we will probably not make the march 15th planting of our taters and such because the ground will be too wet to work up. The ground is still soaked from our last rains as well. As long as we make the begining of april we should be good.

Thanks for you comments! It is because of our heavy clay soil that I went to raised beds. No matter how much organic matter I added to the garden, the clay always won! Over the years the raised beds have become mostly compost, but I never seem to have enough homemade compost to keep re-filling the beds. Several years ago I moved all of the rhubarb plants into 3' fire rings because they were always getting crown rot from sitting the wet clay. This year, for the first time, I am planting the sweet potatoes in mineral lick tubs filled with a homemade potting soil mix.

I have a few raised beds as well and I have the same problem with refilling them. I had trouble with my rhubarb and this year it is going into a raised bed so hopefully that will help. My sweet taters are going in a large tub too, I believe its 20 or 30 gallons. Ive never had trouble with them in ground but I am trying to maximize the amount we grow. So Im going to put them in tubs and grow them up a panel, praying it works Ive seen others do it so hope we have similar results.
