The people who were born at the same time as Israel in 1948 is a "generation." In Genesis God says he is done with man and he wants to shorten the life of a man to 120 years. Very few people of the "fig tree" generation will live to 120 years but there only has to be one of these people left alive to see this happen and that will fulfill the verse. So 1948 + 120 = 2068.
