Genuine asylum seekers would 1) have sought asylum in a safe country and applied to come here legally if they really wanted to move to the UK, 2) would not have willingly destroyed their documentation en route. The best deterrent is to refuse claims for those arriving here illegally, detain and deport.
And remember Keir Starmer was awarded his knighthood for services in Law and criminal justice. Go figure , he knows the law yet breaks it …
