  • Hi guys,
    Spoilers: All axle shafts are not created equal. Some fit other axles and some fit your axles. Hopefully this helps you know the difference.

    Word of advice. Stop saying the word "Guy's". I heard it probably 45 times. Drove me nuts.

    I have the same cheapy axles. Bought the same replacement. Appears they r scx10ii....i tried grinding out the flange where the bearing sits......didnt turn out.

      Yeah, that would be tricky. Just occurred to me that skinny bearings might let them work

    Quick fix for that exact set up. Use a needle file and extend the hole on the knuckle top and bottom. You could use solder as a filler around the brass bushing, I never have and the tooled steel shafts haven't broke. One of my trucks runs a 180amp brushless (550 size) 4000+kv 4-6s (usually run 4s). At 100% dual rate it's pretty much uncontrollably, but they haven't broke. Usually run it at 35-50% throttle rate, it's still uncontrollably, but they haven't broke yet.

      Can you explain in simple?

      @@hamzaaamer9786 The actual turning knuckle, the 2 screws top and bottom that are the pivot points for the steering, use a thin round needle file (jewelry file) extended the hole so the entire knuckle is allowed to slide/push outward when turning. This keeps it from binding up with the slightly longer bearing seat thing

    Do you sell your knuckles

    This stupid hobby. I just bought these metal axles for my crawler thinking it would be a great upgrade. Now I'm hearing from everywhere the axle shaft breaks easily and there's no known direct replacement???

      Yeah, Chinese parts aren't the best, but, IDK, mine lasted hours before I broke one. I'm pretty sure that pushing for max turning angle is part of the problem because they tend to bind if you go past the happy point. Keep a look out for a deal on replacements (I got 4 for $15 Cdn) and it only takes a minute to change them. My magic formula for happiness it "don't over pay"

    What size are the inner bearings and what size are the out bearings? I printed those knuckles you made .Thanks

    try heating the aluminum knuckle with a small torch. the aluminum expands more than the steel. use a non-contact IR thermometer and stay under 400 deg F, 200 deg C.

    Anyone tried the 3d printed knuckles solution? One other option is to replace the solid diff spool with a HSP 02024 open differential (drive cups removed) and stuff it with some seriously heavy diff fluid (2M+ CST), silicone ear plugs or silly putty. This creates a kind of a limited slip differential. Not the greatest solution for rock crawling but works for trailing and rock racing.

    Are the original drive shaft from the metal axle metal?

    • @drivetowrench2709
      @drivetowrench2709  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes. Never seen a plastic drive shaft in a crawler, they wouldn't last one turn with a fully locked diff
