Don’t know what brand I used but put down same type fabric under gravel driveway to shop over 20 yrs ago. Well worth the investment. Same as added no gravel to original because fabric prevents gravel from sinking into ground. Well worth the extra time and money invested.

Hello Brock. I am not an expert, but I think you did a great job on this project. All the best, Ben

    Nice work, Brock!
I find that the limited amount of gravel spreading I've done with my tractor has been easiest for me while driving forward. That way, I can focus on getting an even rain of stone down without needing to look backwards to see where I'm going.
    Take care and God Bless.

It looks like you used the best landscape cloth. I've used that type too. The black woven stuff with the green stripes. It will last at least 20 years.

You're like a surgeon. That move spreading rock up near the house was sweet.

I was thinking. If you still want something plant wise to make it look good, plant succulents. Low growing, flowering cactus. Maybe an Aloe plant. You'd have to check what will grow in your area, but I am sure there are a lot of choices. That way it is still a feature wall, but with no maintenance. Which was your goal. They will grow in the rocks. Just cut a small hole in the fabric for the roots to get to dirt. You can add a bit of decorative bark as well.

Yup I learned the hard way that fabric too close to the surface will get ripped up by a box blade. Because of all the stuff growing through my driveway I thought there was no barrier. I suppose that's half true now though :)

Hi Brock. I just finished spreading 3/4 inch rock on my driveway. After I back bladed it, I smoothed it out with a box blade. Did a nice job of levelling everything.

Brock, the geotextile fabric you used was a good choice for this application as it has great water permeability. This is very important around a slab.
Those in climates where it is dry and hot for extended periods need to be careful with landscape fabric up against the slab of their home. Some landscape fabrics can prevent water from entering the soil around the slab and can lead to the slab shifting and then cracking of course. You can still use a landscape fabric, but it has to be permeable, allowing water to pass into the soil below. Just like what Brock used.
Here in Texas, we have to water around our slabs periodically to keep them in great shape. A lot of new home owners here do not know this, and they end up paying for it in costly repairs down the road. I think now they put an addendum or notice in the closing documents to help educate new home owners about this, which includes a warning about using water permeable landscape fabric around the slab (if using landscape fabric).

Great job , very nice, I probably would not have put fabric down , unless I was to use it a lot . You did a very professional job . Todd 🤪

I think I would put some kind of marker at the end of the Geotech fabric in order not to hit it with a box blade or land plane 🤔 Perhaps like an orange flex pole an each end.

Howdy Brock! Looks good to me. If you are happy with the results, you did it perfect. I got some areas I want to extend my driveway into if you want some more practice... 😁 Have a good one and thanks for sharing 🤠
