  • Installing geotextile fabric and rock on the track. It's finally time to put down some road fabric and rock over the clay. So happy to be at this stage and out of the mud, some of the rock has already been delivered so we used that to start the track. They are suppose to be hauling me rock on Monday but with rain rolling in I wanted to be able to work off the rock. I had to make a phone to the Dirt Boss to get some tips on how to lay this fabric around the radius. The rock really pops on the track and the fabric works great, the dump truck is not even sinking in. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #GeotextileFabric

    Just saw, I wrote the other comment but never submitted it. Anyway, TH-cam is so cool that it allows so many PEOPLE to "CONNECT" in this world we live in. "DIRT BOSS" has replied in a comment to me, on your video a few weeks ago, he would LOVE to be up WITH YOU doing this TRACK thingy with his D51. Your DRONE efforts give new meaning to what you're doing there! SWEET JOB!!! Sonny

    That was darn good and you laid that fabric like a Pro. PROGRESS! Personally, I like videos that are a little longer - to me, if they're interesting, like yours are, it seems like 50 minutes goes by in 5 minutes, so seeing things getting completed is very rewarding. Oh, and your explanations were just right. Now, I have to say that even though you had that nice shot of The Great Dirt Boss, I'm sure he'd agree that we did miss the gorgeous and talented Mrs. ELITE.

    Looks purdy with that topping on it! Kinda like when a guy with a scarred and knotty head puts on a cap!
    The drone shots were great... I didn’t notice your dad was loading in the upper corner until he moved the truck. Then I had to replay it and watch him work too.
    Pleating that fabric is a simple answer. And, will use less fabric too because the longest part (the outside edge) won’t have any overlaps.
    Nice job shooting and editing this video. You had a short learning curve in fabric spreading!
    I had a half inch of rain today. The railroad ties didn’t make it here yet. They are supposed to be here tomorrow. Hopefully I’m not unloading them in a deluge!

I don’t have a lot of machine experience but I use to be a surveyor. When you’re doing grading work I see things were I could help you. I can see the grade and how I might help. Last time i laid fabric down i was building a 50mx50m pad up on top of a landfill. In 55-75km winds. We had to get the project engineer and a summer student to come up and hold the edges down as i laid gravel on overtop. Was the only way to lay it down haha.

    Everything you done with the fabric was text book, I've never done a job to where I had to staple it down and every major contractor that I've ever subbed onto never stapled theirs either. The one mistake that I see people do is they drive a machine onto the fabric before putting a proper amount of cover over it first.

    Hey Brandon! That moves along fast!! Gotta feel nice not generally working in mud,,,,,. The gravel was even starting to polish up the bucket on the Skid steer,,, haha. I don’t mind the longer videos, but with the back feeling somewhat better, I have been doing more,,,, until I did too much!! Spent about 16 hours I’m emergency today for back pain. Problem with me is ,,,,, if I feel a little better, I do a LOT. Dumb, dumb, dumb,,,,,,,. Over did it. Didn’t undo all the work done by the recent back surgeries, but didn’t do them much good either. It’s hard learning to slow down to a different, slower pace permanently. Soooooo when I tell you to be careful and take care of your back,,,,,,, I’m not kidding!!!!! This will be the biggest negative affect on my wife’s retirement and mine. Be smart an don’t be the tough guy,,,,,,, the tough guy is dumb!! Haha.

    I’m about to do the same for my 500’ driveway. Question - I noticed you didn’t lay any of the larger 3”+ rock first, on top of the fabric. Were you able to go straight to the top layer since you used the fabric? I’m installing over a clay subsoil so I think the fabric will certainly be beneficial for me.
    Thank you

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  ปีที่แล้ว

      There were a few spots where I put the 3” down on the fabric then the 1” over it. It really depends on the ground. The fabric supposedly equals 4” of rock so as long as the ground doesn’t feel soft you can lay the fabric then go right to the 1” rock. Appreciate you watching

    Running late, but willing to do the non-internet thing and show my ignorance. I've only seen you and Letsdig and a couple of other TH-camrs use the "fabric" under roads. The only time I've seen it used around my current area (southeast central Texas) is for septic systems (Geo-textile fabric?). How is it supposed to work? Does it keep the "base" from mashing into the subgrade, or is it that strong? Or is it more related to colder weather?

    • @jonschneck4559
      @jonschneck4559 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there are as many different fabrics as there is different stones. fabrics allow the water to drain thru but keep the fines from passing thru. it will block the subsoil from pushing up into the stone base. there are woven and non woven and different weights per square yard. one line of thought is one layer of fabric is the same as 4 inches of base rock.
