I do wish that Fortnite would bring back progressive skins, because for the tier 100 skins, I find myself only using the base style, because the super styles and other edit styles often aren’t for me. The progressive skins had stages that evolved the skin, and looked better than the styles that we have for skins today
I feel like challenges now for battle passes are so boring. I miss those challenges like when you had to dance with multiple people to make the disco ball go up or find the hidden battle stars and banners around the map
I friggen miss when Fortnite did progression tier 1/100 skins as well as pets and toys it’s a damn shame we basically never ever get em anymore as well as actual dances in the battlepasses we only get like one dance per battlepass it’s very saddening.
I just think fortnites gotten lazy bc they've made it, they're one of THE biggest games rn, they just dont need to try as hard anymore, also they rely on collab skins waaay too much
The bad part is that since it seems Fortnite isn’t gonna bring stuff back to the shop unless it can support in the other modes, battle passes probably won’t get any new item types for a long time, if at all
What i dont understand about that whole "dosent support other modes" is that what about rocket racing? It dosent support emotes so what were never getting emotes again?
@@Methfrfr I think for the most part, it refers to LEGO. For example, Polar Patroller doesn't have a LEGO skin outside of the generic placeholder base model. So we have to wait an unknown amount of time for the devs to create a LEGO style for that skin before he returns to the store. Same with emotes: If the LEGO character can't do a specific dance, that emote won't return to the store until a lego animation is made. There are also some skins in limbo due to issues with other companies, but that's an entirely different situation. (Very unfortunate as well, since I want Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil).
Something about the simplicity of older seasons just made them so much better. Now we're just getting already existing characters from other games. No originality
@@ltisdabest21no but almost every battle pass has at least one collaboration skin. either it’s in the pass already or it’s a secret skin which is just one waste of a slot for an original character
Even with fortnite's original skins, they reuse themes from their own characters way too much (in the battle pass not the item shop.) What I'm saying is this new "Rust" "The Machinist" and especially that brite raider have got to go in the item shop. We already have skins like those.
@MichealAfton1983 even whether the skin is or isn't good it doesn't feel as rewarding as a unique character. Would you rather get a new character that unlocks styles or colors throughout the pass or quests like some of the chap 1 skins, or another iteration of thor or something with 1 or 2 styles and an emote. And I don't hate the collabs directly, I like some of the skins like the new iron spider and some non-skin items from c2s4 (which I don't mind because it is supposed to be a marvel season), but there are so many of the marvel skins and items that including them in the battle pass constantly feels more filler than a reward. And it doesn't help that the new item shop is just a full on catalog with the same items for as long as you need. Like it feels like a fluke when I see an older skin I recognize and like in the item shop, despite it still being overshadowed by the same collab skins in the shop for the last week.
It's a tough choice, but Omega has always been my favorite skin, and having all his edit styles is prob my proudest achievement in FN lol. Well, except having the full gold Agent Peely from reaching lvl 350 in CH2 S2.
Remember when you actually had a tier 100 skin instead of a built in emote that unlocks an additional style? And when battle stars weren’t a thing? I liked the old stuff way better.
We still have overtime styles in the form of the bonus styles before the superstyles. Overtime styles were usually for skins that had NO edit styles, something that is non existent with new battlepass skins.
ikr I agree with you so much...I wish we could go back all over again to when Fortnite just got released...I miss the OG times so much....so much nostalgia man 😭 and even Fortnite's "OG Season" was a fake bro they took old skins and modified them 😭😭😭
I Don't mind the lowering of the amount of cosmetics as a whole, because fortnite had a lot more to experiment back in chapter 1. What i don't like now is that we have bonus tiers now which, apart from the super styles feel like bloat and a way to extend play time in regards to FOMO. Why are we adding lego sets and rocket racing cars to the battle pass when it's supposed to be all about battle royale. For the lego mode if we're not getting our content in updates then why is the customization content being paywalled in the shop as well. Progressive skins were way better in concept and execution. AND i believe you could work on unlocking styles after the season had ended. Also having collab skins of some of the most iconic characters expected to never return (Gaming legends, Marvel, Star wars) is just cruel
removing skin rarities was sad, sure it didnt serve much of a purpose but a legendary skin being earned at the end or unlocking all the stages for a legendary skin was so cool
imo there are things that old passes do better and there are things that new battle passes do better. what I prefer about older passes: -progressive outfits (like Drift & Calamity) -having multiple emotes that actually play music -having a new type of cosmetic (like sprays, toys, wraps) introduced in every pass, tho I get why they don't do that anymore -skin styles being unlockable even after the season ends -not having collabs in the pass what I prefer about new passes: -better overall skin quality and amount of styles for each skin -less filler -less of a grind -being able to get it through the crew pack -the original skins all fitting the season's theme -the skins feeling more like characters with personality, instead of just outfits -the progression system being based around in-game levels instead of having battle stars as a seperate way of progression -2D loading screens made by artists that were specifically commisioned for them (and the artists being credited in the description)
I agree with a lot that you said but also disagree with some -I think the skin quality has gone down, battle pass skins now only get one style that just has different clothing and the rest are recolors. While yes some skins back then only had recolor styles, they were made up with the multiple progressive skins that each battle pass had which all had an insane amount of styles with good quality -I think battle passes now have more filler, especially with edit styles taking up so many tiers. These styles could easily be made into challenges you get when unlocking the skin like how it was in chapter 1 but they all take up battle pass slots. Also in chapter 1 we had stuff like pets and toys that weren't filler at all -Personally I think battle passes being a bit harder to grind was better and more rewarding. This one is just personal preference tho, and I understand why they're easier now especially with bonus rewards going all the way up to level 200 -I feel like skins now don't have much personality. Compare recent battle passes to ones like chapter 2 season 2 where each skin got so much personality and attention which lead to that battle pass being so memorable
@@89carti I'll just reply to your points about skin quality & personality, because the other points are completely subjective and I think what you said about those is fair. Obviously it's also subjective how much you enjoy current skins compared to older ones, but I feel like the edit styles we get now don't offer much less customization than the ch1 ones. For example the Brite Raider skin from this pass has 3 normal color options, a helmet on or off option and 3 super style color options. Compare this to the Drift skin where you have 5 clothing options and a vfx effect you can put on the fifth clothing style. No color or mask options at all. It boils down to personal preference in the end but I think being able to run a completely different colorway on a skin makes much more of a difference than putting a vest on it and nothing else. The point about skin personalities is a bit less subjective imo. Skins nowadays all have unique facemodels (except for stuff like Vengeance Jones, since he's a new rendition of an existing character) compared to older skins which often used one of the 8 default models. Epic also puts new characters on the map as npcs who have unique dialogue, which helps a lot. That plus having theme songs, own pois on the map and appearing in story quests just gives them more character to me. They're less iconic than older outfits of course, but that's inevitable since we have thousands of skins atp. I definitely agree on your opinion about the ch2 s2 battle pass, that one was great. Though by older battle passes I exclusively meant chapter 1 passes
@@froggo9539 I see what you mean, and you are definitely right about the skin personalities. You mentioned a lot that I wasn't keeping in mind, but I still feel like these are just small things that aren't really memorable. I think they could do much better to make the personalities show more, since I feel like most people aren't really going to remember stuff like npc dialogue. Now for drift I agree he would have been better with stuff like color styles, not sure why he didn't get any color styles when both carbide and calamity, the tier 1 skins before and after him had color styles. But I'd say catalyst makes up for that, since she's the best of both worlds. Brite raider is cool but her styles don't seem too interesting but obviously that's up to preference. Her styles are just recolors and one adds a helmet that changes nothing else. She could have been so much cooler if she was somehow progressive
I miss the map, the skins, the weapons and content, how progressive the battle pass was and the simplicity of it all. Wanting to get the cosmetics soo badly, now idc for any of that in this game. The season OG they released awhile ago brought back all of that monetarily and they only let us have it for a month. They need to make that a separate feel for people who miss that
Old passes felt so rewarding to complete, but now challenges are so easy you will complete them without even knowing what they are, now it’s too easy for battle passes. And they are just cash grabs
I agree with you so much man...I keep watching Fortnite make new battle passes and when I see the next season coming I think "Oh, well here comes another bad season 💀" I feel like this season is more about the cars than the actual players....😢
Then don't play the game. Every season and battlepass since CH4 have been great with one or two exceptions. The problem isn't the game bud it's you so go find something else to play and stop crying😂
"Oh, well here comes another bad season" is going to sum up the next season for me if the season is going to be Marvel themed. I don't have an interest in Marvel and having a battle pass themed around specific IPs like that is just a bad idea in my opinion. I like when the season has a general theme and skins revolve around that and can vary greatly.
@@STK_Itsuka You must be a new player, because if you started in Season 1 you would be just as upset as I am. I'm not crying, I'm just an OG player from Season 1 that's mad at Fortnite's dumb decisions to copy other games/movies instead of making up their own stuff like they used to. And by the way, I have stopped playing Fortnite for a little bit, but since they're supposed to have Titled Towers back, I'm gonna see what it's all about, and if it's garbage, I'll just resume to playing RDR2 which is a WAY better game. And what I mean is that BR Fortnite is garbage. Creative is still okay, and that's the only thing I'd ever play. And they also copied COD, with Ranked Mode. Fortnite's Ranked mode used to be ARENA with Hype Points. And if you knew anything, the game isn't the problem, the problem is EPIC GAMES being lazy.
@@STK_Itsuka Well if you're going to start using uneducated words, keep your opinions to yourself. I'm just voicing my opinion and you don't need to start using the words "Dumbass" and "moron" just because I'm replying to your comment and letting you know what I think about the way Fortnite is now. I apologize if I offended you by assuming you were a new player. If you like the way Fortnite is now, I can respect that you have your own likes and dislikes, I was just saying I don't like the way Epic Games has changed Fortnite.
Good to see youtubers like you talking about the old battlepasses i dont like the new battle stars system its just boring and not rewarding these days the battlepasses are just lazy and are just carried by collabs i dont like it
Mainly the dances, all of them now are shitty ones that last a second and then stop. What happened to the actual “dances” where they lasted as long as you want
I agree so much, I feel like one of the highlights of old battle passes were the emotes. Everyone used to be so excited to see what the dances would be and old battle passes had so many iconic emotes even to this day
1:48 this isn’t really true because to unlock megladon or any of the skins you have to finish the whole page. Also if you just don’t collect something from the pass, at the end of the season they will automatically collect Also I think the extra Xp as rewards is such a good idea especially since it’s so hard to level up now
At this point I realized bro is crying over things that makes no sense. Everything is the same, only thing different is nowadays we have better and detailed skins instead of default skins with different styles from C1.
@@hellween-He has a couple valid points but a lot of the things he’s complaining about aren’t even bad, hell he’s complaining about good things. Why is he annoyed about extra edit styles for skins?
@@wet0wl he's more annoyed with the fact that they're included WITHIN the battlepass, not that they have extra styles. Those tiers that the extra styles are taking up could be replaced with something else rather than having the edit style within the battlepass. Back then, no styles were included within the pass, they were given by doing challenges and to add onto it, they were progressive too by reaching a certain level. The point is that we could be getting other rewards in place of those and just unlocking the edit styles by other means like challenges and yes we may get additional styles for completing quests and leveling up after level 100 but quantity doesn't always necessarily mean the quality is good. Instead of having 4 different colored variants of a singular skin, we could have a singular different variant that looks good or hell, a progressive skin that as you put work into it, it starts to look better and better. That's his point in the video.
Saw people on twitter judging the video by its thumbnail so I went to watch for myself. Good video with good points, just a few that I disagree with but overall it was nice to hear opinions voiced such as yours presented in this video. I don't see much of it said often so thank you for this
Part of the reason I wouldn’t care if they brought back older parts is simply due to the fact the items were nice, they put a lot more effort into their own creation. Epic seems to have lost that more and you can tell, and if you played through the whole battle pass back in the day there was enough free vbucks earned to get the battle pass for free. Only issue I had back then is you couldn’t finish your it battle pass when the next season came out, I still use the water balloon and soccer toy ngl.
Remember when you could get the Battle Pass and as long as you got to level 100 you had pretty much unlimited time to work and unlock the edit styles? I miss that.
Awesome video! Straight to the point! You covered some things that I never even thought of in that way. Thanks for the new perspective! I also 100% agree with what you said about pets and toys. It would be awesome to see them back in the game! I use Kitsune, Kyo and Ohm all the time. It would be cool to add some more to the collection!
Battle stars ruined battle passes for me it gives the illusion of choice you need level 96 to be able o buy the final skin yet you need to buy everything before to be able to buy the last skin which makes it a tier 100.
Something I miss with the old battle pass was how creative it was. If you look at season 5 chapter 1 for example. We got a sushi spray, tic tac toe banner, a potato aim spray. Nowadays all tiers is dedicated to the page skin and you can’t really get creative with the stuff you get.
I believe you because when it comes to most of the things that we have gotten so far in the current battle passes from the past battle passes I could definitely see the past battle passes were better because they’re unified in a way where it’s challenging to actually complete and not just that but the edit styles actually felt rewarding as much as not many people care about edit styles back then when you would earn an edit style. It would feel rewarding because you worked super hard for it.
I love how we always look at the past and make it look like it was something amazing but when those times were current, we used to hate on it. We talked so much trash about it happens in eco We hate the current product and look back on the past like it was so great. Never fails.
I can’t explain how much I miss seeing pets in the battle pass. They got me more hyped than the tier 100…They literally have a bunch of animals as options but they just don’t make them anymore.
The only problem I see with this argument is the grind for one level back then, I use to play every day during season 6, did every quest and daily quest, hell I even used vbucks from the battlepass to buy levels… I only got to level 92. I’m much happier now that the grind is less hard
They also need to work on emotes, in all respect but the recent battle pass emotes suck. For this season I understand as it's marvel themed but the other seasons got no reason for their best emote to be a short little action when back in the day you'd get legendary dances like the orange justice, flamingo, etc.
the thing i miss the most is progressive skins because their inicial/mid/final stages were super different from each other, it felt like we were gettting 3 skins in one, not to mention that there were two of them in the battle pass, the tier 100 skin and the FIRST SKIN, it was such an awesome experience to get drift as my first skin in the game and see all the items that i unlock and new styles being similarly unlock by everyone at the same time, it felt like oh this is the peely week, this the supreme knight week, because everyone had a similar progression of the battle pass because there was not many tasks to do, everybody would be rocking the things you had just unlocked and so it was like we were all grinding together.
I think the problem is that fortnite realised that they don’t have to try on a skin because they can put a collab in there and the skins would be gone in 3 months
i get your point about the tier 100 skins, but you still do have to have claimed every other item, even in the new ones, before you can claim the last one
I think once every 5 months there was a bundle where when you buy it you choose which battle pass skin bundle you want let's say you chose Mids you get the whole Mids bundle and it will cost 1,600 V Bucks because you also only get one bundle for the price of one and a half battle pass and you also choose only one for six months what do you say I cooked or not
Idk i nearly shaked my head at every point youre arguing about. Im playing since season 2 and im having each season a lot of fun. The battle passes nowadays are not worse to compare with old ones. Its just your own opinion about it. The super level styles are a blast in my eyes. Im always like woahhh what a crazy skin. And tbh back then you just needed to grind with 0 brain games over games over games to get for example all the omega styles. That was so hardcore garbage to unlock. Not everyone wants to play 10h each day until end of season.
And this is why I’m glad I bought all CHPTR1 season 2 through x battle passes and maxed them out because I knew nothing like them would come back again.
this is such a made up issue, both the quality and the amount of rewards have increased incredibly, the whole arguement that "you can just unlock megalodon but in the good ol' days you had to get to tier 100 for omega" is just pure bullshit. You HAVE to have everything else in a battlepass unlocked before u can get the final skin, and dont go with the fkn ultima knight bullshit cuz if you actually played in season X you would know what kind of bullshit challanges u needed to unlock both the origin knight style and the red style (pretty much that ages superlevel rewards), if you only reached tier 100 which i did with my account level being something like 37 you would only unlock the base style, and recently when i tried to match with my friends they didnt have silver ultima knight nor the origin style so dont try to bullshit your way through and please, we still get the same amount of rewards you used to "back in the day" you just dont notice it cuz its all on the same line nowadays , you get 5 stars per level, and some rewards shocker cost less than 5 stars 😨 and wtf kind of an arguement is that the ability to chose your rewards is bad? if i want to speedrun to a skin i can save up stars and skip the skins i dont gaf, me personally i think this is a good thing the only thing you got right is 2 skins compared to 1 right now on tier 1, but the skin being spread out isnt much of an issue in my opinion but i can see how it can annoy you. "with so much filler that is clogging up todays battlepasses like banner icons, emoticons etc" like holy fuck do you remember when they introduced sprays? every page had 5 of them out of 10 slots, do you remember when they introducted toys? yes you do cuz u mentioned it but u didnt mention how they'd have 2 recolors of the same toy "clogging" up the battle pass and xp bonuses seriously dont matter cuz epic already gives so much xp, you can get 15/20 levels a day in under 2 hours by just knowing what gamemodes to play "technique battlehawk , sledgehammer, squadleader, valor skins people used to consider to be decent skins at the time even without styles" NO??? everyone was hyped about the fact that s4 and s5 had these skins that HAD the edit styles, and why is having more rewards like the peabody slap style a bad thing? would you rather get another banner and a spray like we used to in the good ol times instead of an extra FREE variant to a skin put off the nostalgia glasses cause the ammount of shit you get in the battlepasses has been reduced a LOT and this is just a complaint to complain
So true, I really don’t get the hate for the newer battle pass system. It’s not even bad in any way. You still get a hundred rewards, it’s easy to level up, you can choose which rewards you want, you still get extra styles, vbucks, and 8 skins. People need to start appreciating what they have more before it’s gone.
okay so let me ask this whats special about the battlepasses now when everyone can unlock it easily why not get rid of the battlepass and just put the skins in the store
For me, what has made the battles passes less good is the removal of the evolving skins, because in fact the skins in the latest passes aren't so bad in the sense that there are some good ones like the crystal guy from season 1 chapter 5, Nisha or even skins in the season 2 chapter 4 pass like Renzo, Mizuki, the galaxy samurai chick. But for me what made a battle pass good was those evolving skins, now they make us grind on super styles, super styles have become boriiiinnng asfff, I prefer when he had two skins that you max well, I find it much more interesting than just color styles.
I liked playing Fortnite back then and actually trying to get to the tier 100 skin , not just by lvling up but actually doing the weekly quests for battle stars , plus not having to stress about extra super styles. You actually had to grind for the tier 100 back then, also they screwed up the gliders , instead of having reskins of the og blue glider we get gianormous ch2 gliders we can’t even see half the screen with
i miss secret skins where we actually had something to look forward to every single time we completed all the weekly tasks, we would all unlock the loading screens and seek the secret banner or battle star as well as see the clues to what might come in the future of the season, the time before deadpool where we weren't spoiled day one for what its to come, the time where most of these skins mattered to the current season story and for the next one. this loading screens would also connect to what was happening during the updates, were we would see digging sites near the lake and we would see the characters discovering it. there was so much involvement between the player's progression and the season's progression. our excitement for new updates didn't come from seeing videos on youtube of leaked stuff, instead we would all hear and find out about them in game, with clues and not just a twitter post announcing a collab.
Yeah now a days it feels like a chore to get all the rewards and cosmetics in the battle pass and it gets really confusing I just prefer the simplicity of leveling up and getting the rewards overtime without having to use any over exaggerated battle stars and like you said don’t really like how edit styles are thrown in a whole page just for the sake of making the battle pass bigger when it could be like an omega/carbide thing where you get the edit styles through quests
I remember when Battle Passes were filled with ORIGINAL skins and not fucking Spider-Man or some shit I love Spider-Man as u can see from the pfp but like why u adding his ass to the BP bro where's the originality of the BP where did that go Edit: before someone comes at me thinking I didn't get Spider-Man, I did get him, I just think it's lowkey dumb as fuck for fortnite to take one of the most popular superheroes and lock his ass up behind a battle pass... Yeah you can argue that there were other Spider-Verse characters out there, Spider-Man 2099, Ultimate Spider-Man (miles morales), Tom Holland Spider-Man, even Spider-Gwen. But MOST people when they think Spider-Man, they think the classic suit with the red & blue colors.
Funny how every battlepass for the last 2 years has had 6-7 original skins. Stop making up excuses to cry and admit that you're just blinded by nostalgia and nothing else😂
Tbh, there are so many skins in this game. What more do we ask? Collaborations are gonna stick around for awhile with battle passes nowadays. We just had to deal with it, for now. Even though, it's sucks that it locks under FOMO. But it is what is it. As for Original skins, to be honest, I love Originality of the skins in the game. However, compare to chapter 1 battle pass skins to current ones. The current ones looks a lot better than most of chapter 1 battle passes. But I do agree that edit styles, emotcons, and sprays on the current battle pass are really filler and so bland. Now hear me out, that are some good chapter 1 bp skins that rivals or better than the current ones. Like Lynx, Drift, Omega, Reaper, peely, and Calamity are all soild. But for real, every battle passes have it's own unique rewards, and that's all it matters. But one day, I really hope that epic games would stop relying on these collaborations and bring originality and more effort into the current battle passes. Sorry for the long essay.
To counter the Megalo Don point, the 'choose what you want' only applies if you're getting his first version. But since you said tier 100, that would prove your point false, because you need everything else in the battle pass in order to get the tier 100 reward. Besides that, I completely agree with everything you said. The battle pass has a LOT of problems which could easily be fixed.
Ask a bunch of players if they like a basic skin with a pink and gold superstyle to show how sweaty and chronically online you are or a skin like carbide, ragnarok, omega, dire, calamity, lynx, etc. It makes the game fun and challenging in a simple way that makes you want to grind not just to show off but to feel like it payed off when you rock an awesome fully maxed out. Even with the new ones, do you like an interesting and engaging heavily themed one like chapter 2 season 2 or just another cheap money grab with a million crossovers.
I don't see how liking a basic skin with those superstyles makes you sweaty and chronically online when Lynx or even sometimes Omega are known for being used by sweats
I prefer well balanced passes over ones that only focused on 1 or 2 skins while not caring about the rest for example the chapter 4 bp only had two skins with extra styles (not counting The Visitors helmet) and all the other skins no one ever mentions. I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention any other skin from that bp. All the new skins get pois, dialogue, npcs, and theme songs, while most chp. 1 skins didn't even get an extra style up until season 7.
tbh, i just wish epic gave us newer players a chance to get the older battlepasses, and maybe bring back older seasons in a more effiecent way. oh and stop the item shop rotation. but yea, i see old battle passes and i just feel like i missed out on so much, i hate fomo and how epic is using it they need to fix so much with the game but they just wanna focus on getting as many collabs as possible as if quantity is perferable over quality (it isnt)
@@ToastyBoi2005 exactly, im rather new in actually playing the game consistently, like epic could make the game so much better but insteads does crap like remove rarities and other things that NO ONE asked for
Fr I miss when battle stars functioned like this and not the XP thing we have now it use to take weeks to get too tier 100 (unless you payed $$) now its just takes a week
I don't mind edit styles, but it would be nice if they just came with the skin/pickaxe/glider/whatever when you buy the normal version, this way they could still be a thing cause having options is nice, but not hog pages that could be used for other things. I also think we should go back to having separate tracks for the battle pass. If we did that, then the free stuff would have their own separate slots and that's a few extra slots for additional rewards in the full battle pass.
I also just wish Epic would start making good skins in general for the battle pass. All the skins nowadays largely just kind of suck. Like remember Black Knight, Reaper, Rust Lord, Dark Voyager, Omega, Ice King, Catalyst, Lynx, Vendetta, or Ultima Knight? The only skins in the battle pass that have interested in me over the past couple years are the crossover skins, the original skins suck ass like 85% of the time. I rarely ever buy battle passes because nowadays there’s only like 1-2 actually good or cool skins. We honest to God didn’t know how great we had it back in chapter 1.
I feel like new battle passes have lost identity. Battle passes back in chapter 1 and early chapter 2 were so iconic with not only just players but also people outside the game. Everybody knows skins like drift, calamity, lynx, peely, midas, etc. They used to give so much attention and character to the skins in the old battle passes. They gave them so much personality, like remember drift and his friend group in those roadtrip loading screens? Also in chapter 2 season 2 arguably one of the most iconic battle passes ever, gave each character unique personalities with their own cutscenes, rooms, pois, mythics, etc. They also had styles you could individually choose for each skin which made you kind of bond with that skin to choose the style you prefer. Most people are able to name every character in that battle pass, even the less popular ones like brutus or tntina. That's also not even mentioning the challenges they used to give skins in the old battle passes so you could unlock their styles and extra rewards outside of the main battle pass. Now I feel like battle passes rely on collabs for their identity/selling point. I mean honestly do most people even remember most of the battle pass skins nowadays outside of the collab skin? They are just not memorable or iconic anymore and fortnite barely does anything to help that. They don't give them personality and they don't give them stuff like challenges to unlock styles or extra rewards for them. I also think stuff like overtime challenge styles were both so much better and memorable than super styles Also it sucks that new players can't get stuff like pets or toys anymore since 99% of them were locked behind old battle passes. I think there's like one pet and toy that can be bought in the item shop but they only ever come back once every year or two. I really thought for season OG they were gonna introduce a new pet and toy in the OG pass since they were both such a big part of chapter 1 battle passes. Like some ideas I thought they could maybe do is a mashup pet of bonesy and the merry munchkin to make a gingerbread dog or maybe a taco toy to match the tomato and durrr burger toys we've gotten before but nope
I want you to name any other bp skin that wasn't the most popular skins from the old bps. I rarely see anyone mention people like Valor, Zoey, and Sledgehammer so I completely disagree that they used to give so much details to older skins, especially when all new bp skins get multiple styles. I agree that unlocking their cosmetics through challenges was good. I don't know how a character that has dialogue, poi, loading screens, and an npc are less memorable than skins that never did anything. All chapter 5 skins have done more and had more importance than most chapter 1 skins. You mention the reason why they don't put pets and toys in the bp and yet still are upset.
@@ltisdabest21 Yes there were less popular skins but I'd argue people still know who they are. The thing about current battle passes is none of the skins stick except for the collabs. You mention npc dialogue and stuff but honestly who is going out of their way to read all that? The main way to read npc dialogue is to actively search for it on twitter which not many people do. The loading screens they get are alright, but if they did those storyline loading screens again I'd argue the characters would have more personality within those and people would actively see what's going on with the characters and the story of the season. Also most of the battle pass skins now only get recolor styles. Only 3 out of the 7 skins in the main battle pass this season have a style that actually changes something and it's pretty much just clothing with maybe a new mask. Now I know the immediate argument is "chapter 1 skins also had recolor styles or none at all" which is fair, but I think that's made up by the progressive skins. The progressive skins are basically two skins in one, starting as one skin and each style making them better and better until the last style which looks like a completely different and cooler skin. Battle pass skins are obviously gonna have recolor styles no matter old or new which is ok, but wouldn't you rather have 2 or 3 of the skins be progressive? Imagine if the tier 1 skin this battle pass was progressive, she would have been so much cooler and memorable especially if you had to earn her styles through challenges. Also where exactly did I mention the reason pets and toys aren't in the battle pass anymore? Anytime they're brought up people just say how they should bring them back
I agree with this, though I do have some things to say. I agree with the battle pass not needing whole pages just for an alternate style for a character, but I do like when skins are customizable and have different color variations. When you unlock the skin, a pick axe, or a glider, you should immediately unlock all color variants for it as well. I dislike when you unlock a skin and then the glider, but you have to wait a whole month for the quest reward to come out so you can unlock the glider color that goes with the skin. There's a lot of wasted space on current passes due to edit styles. It would have been cool to have Scarr on one page, and then the hyena concept art skin on the next page. They could be the same color and have different, interchangeable cosmetics that compliment each other. (Also, I'll be pissed if we don't get the hyena skin at all. I don't care if it becomes a store skin for 2000 Vbucks, that's one of the cooler concept art skins. Scarr is also one of the most disliked battle pass skins from what I've seen). With pets, I wholeheartedly agree that we need more of them. I still use a few of my pets (Some of them, I barely use because I can't unlock all the colors currently and would like a way to unlock the colors I missed). I love the little wolf back bling and use him fairly often. Some more would be nice. I know we occasionally get similar back blings like Billie's dog or the hermit crab, but more pets on the little chairs would be nice. Especially ones that are reactive, like the chameleon changing color every time you pick up an item. Finally, I'd like to say, I would love if they excluded cars, instruments, and LEGO builds from the normal battle pass. They take up space and I barely use them. Instruments should be put on the Festival pass instead. LEGO builds should not be on the Battle Royale pass at all, since they aren't usable in Battle Royale. While people say it was a free reward and didn't take up space, it still took time to develop. They could have spent that time making an extra contrail for the pass instead of something that isn't usable in the mode the pass was made for.
Personally I like the stars system cuz it means you can get the rewards you actually want sooner but I do with the rewards would be a bit more varied, I feel like a mix between the old system and the new would work best
This been happening sense chapter 2 and I don't think they are changing anytime soon as most of their fanbase now is new players who only knew this game for a year or two and they have to applied to new players but they failed to realize is that their old system was much better as the player counts during summer 2018 vs summer 2024 is very drastic, and most of us the og players left the game long time ago as it was not what we are used too, but if they fixed the system and the battle pass and notice the decrease in player count they will get (at least some of us) back to the game and also realism is also killing the game as this game was not supposed to have cars collabs every 2 seconds it supposed to be cartoony and adventure type of game that's why it was so appealing to many players man I don't even know why they make the changes worse😥
Actually you can unlock the tier 100 skin if you just get to level 86. But for the style/built-in emote yeah you can only get it if you unlocked all 100 tiers
Those edit styles they put in the passes are often times better than the base skin and sometimes I won’t even run the base version because the edit style is soo much better. I think edit styles are a much better reward than crap like emojis and sprays. I think that newer skins having lost of edit styles makes them far superior because some people might only like one style.
if yall didnt realize that games now are becomin way worse than the way they were back then call of duty is now bad just as the fortnite battlepass ,,,,its just that they are mostly interested with the money not the players benefits
Would you ever consider doing a video on how they could bring back old battle passes? Me personally, I think there should be an option to replace the current pass with an old one for the cost of a couple hundred more V-bucks. (And to compensate for the Og owners they could give a new style to a skin or two If the pass they owned reached a certain goal like 500 people purchasing it)
The 100 tier system with extra quests for specific skin styles and rewards felt much more rewarding as not everything had an edit style, and you had to do something extra other than grinding tiers to unlock it, which made them feel special and not just something you get anyway by getting higher tiers. Additionally, having set values for tiers and not having any way to skip them made the progression consistent, unlike now with quest XP and random XP values per level that fluctuate between each season just making getting tiers feel messy. When weekly quests came out in chapter 1 you knew that you will get the same amount of tiers each time, and now you get a randomized amount of tiers based on your current level. I have a lot more to say about why older passes felt better, but this comment is already too long.
Personally they should resell older battle passes call me stupid, crazy, etc… but still some people can’t get their dream skin because it’s a locked skin from 6 years ago
The only reason i bought the current battlepass was for the T60 power armor. If not for that, i probably wouldnt have bought it MegaloDon is cool and the Brite Raider with the helmet reminds me of Twister from Twisted Metal 2 but I'll rarely even play those.
I do wish that Fortnite would bring back progressive skins, because for the tier 100 skins, I find myself only using the base style, because the super styles and other edit styles often aren’t for me. The progressive skins had stages that evolved the skin, and looked better than the styles that we have for skins today

So every skin in the current bp is a collab?
@@ltisdabest21no but almost every battle pass has at least one collaboration skin. either it’s in the pass already or it’s a secret skin which is just one waste of a slot for an original character
@@Wano-KunoHow is it a “waste of a slot”, most of the time the skin is good
Even with fortnite's original skins, they reuse themes from their own characters way too much (in the battle pass not the item shop.) What I'm saying is this new "Rust" "The Machinist" and especially that brite raider have got to go in the item shop.
I whole heartily believe that Drift to this day is still the best battle pass skin ever released
Considering the insane amount of drift reskins there are, that is probably true

Also having collab skins of some of the most iconic characters expected to never return (Gaming legends, Marvel, Star wars) is just cruel
removing skin rarities was sad, sure it didnt serve much of a purpose but a legendary skin being earned at the end or unlocking all the stages for a legendary skin was so cool
we need to keep fighting for bring back the old battle pass skins
I definitely miss the secret skin being original like the prisoner, not just some collab
imo there are things that old passes do better and there are things that new battle passes do better.
what I prefer about older passes:
-progressive outfits (like Drift & Calamity)
-having multiple emotes that actually play music
-having a new type of cosmetic (like sprays, toys, wraps) introduced in every pass, tho I get why they don't do that anymore
-skin styles being unlockable even after the season ends
-not having collabs in the pass
what I prefer about new passes:
-better overall skin quality and amount of styles for each skin
-less filler
-less of a grind
-being able to get it through the crew pack
-the original skins all fitting the season's theme
-the skins feeling more like characters with personality, instead of just outfits
-the progression system being based around in-game levels instead of having battle stars as a seperate way of progression
-2D loading screens made by artists that were specifically commisioned for them (and the artists being credited in the description)
I agree with a lot that you said but also disagree with some
-I think the skin quality has gone down, battle pass skins now only get one style that just has different clothing and the rest are recolors. While yes some skins back then only had recolor styles, they were made up with the multiple progressive skins that each battle pass had which all had an insane amount of styles with good quality
-I think battle passes now have more filler, especially with edit styles taking up so many tiers. These styles could easily be made into challenges you get when unlocking the skin like how it was in chapter 1 but they all take up battle pass slots. Also in chapter 1 we had stuff like pets and toys that weren't filler at all
-Personally I think battle passes being a bit harder to grind was better and more rewarding. This one is just personal preference tho, and I understand why they're easier now especially with bonus rewards going all the way up to level 200
-I feel like skins now don't have much personality. Compare recent battle passes to ones like chapter 2 season 2 where each skin got so much personality and attention which lead to that battle pass being so memorable
@@89carti
I'll just reply to your points about skin quality & personality, because the other points are completely subjective and I think what you said about those is fair.
@@brandonstarstorm3289 I agree with you. Fortnite was much better when they would make up ideas for BPs instead of copying Marvel or Star Wars.

This video perfectly describes my problem with the new battlepasses in fn
1:48 this isn’t really true because to unlock megladon or any of the skins you have to finish the whole page. Also if you just don’t collect something from the pass, at the end of the season they will automatically collect
Also I think the extra Xp as rewards is such a good idea especially since it’s so hard to level up now
At this point I realized bro is crying over things that makes no sense.
Only type of people I hate when it comes to battle passes, is that they buy the entire thing. And then complain that there’s nothing to grind for.
i think the battle pass from fortnite OG gives a taste of what those old battle pass skins were like which makes it the best battle ever for me
Saw people on twitter judging the video by its thumbnail so I went to watch for myself.
I just wish Fortnite would bring back these old battle passes. It would make Fortnite feel like Fortnite again.
This^ 100%
Ppl were saying Fortnite died in chapter 2 but it really started to die chapter 4
You have to get every single reward prior to a skin in order to unlock it, so in the case of the level 100, you HAVE to unlock everything else
Currently the tier 100 these past few seasons is a transformation emote for the tier 90 skin.
I miss when all skins were in the classic artstyle
The only problem I see with this argument is the grind for one level back then, I use to play every day during season 6, did every quest and daily quest, hell I even used vbucks from the battlepass to buy levels… I only got to level 92. I’m much happier now that the grind is less hard
Every new battle pass back in chapter one was new and innovative like toys, backblings, and pets (rip btw) I miss Donald Mustard as creative director
NAHHHHH I THOUGHT THEY WERE WORSE
You HAVE to have everything else in a battlepass unlocked before u can get the final skin, and dont go with the fkn ultima knight bullshit cuz if you actually played in season X you would know what kind of bullshit challanges u needed to unlock both the origin knight style and the red style (pretty much that ages superlevel rewards), if you only reached tier 100 which i did with my account level being something like 37 you would only unlock the base style, and recently when i tried to match with my friends they didnt have silver ultima knight nor the origin style so dont try to bullshit your way through
and please, we still get the same amount of rewards you used to "back in the day" you just dont notice it cuz its all on the same line nowadays , you get 5 stars per level, and some rewards shocker cost less than 5 stars 😨
and wtf kind of an arguement is that the ability to chose your rewards is bad? if i want to speedrun to a skin i can save up stars and skip the skins i dont gaf, me personally i think this is a good thing
the only thing you got right is 2 skins compared to 1 right now on tier 1, but the skin being spread out isnt much of an issue in my opinion but i can see how it can annoy you.
"with so much filler that is clogging up todays battlepasses like banner icons, emoticons etc" like holy fuck do you remember when they introduced sprays? every page had 5 of them out of 10 slots, do you remember when they introducted toys? yes you do cuz u mentioned it but u didnt mention how they'd have 2 recolors of the same toy "clogging" up the battle pass
and xp bonuses seriously dont matter cuz epic already gives so much xp, you can get 15/20 levels a day in under 2 hours by just knowing what gamemodes to play
"technique battlehawk , sledgehammer, squadleader, valor skins people used to consider to be decent skins at the time even without styles" NO??? everyone was hyped about the fact that s4 and s5 had these skins that HAD the edit styles, and why is having more rewards like the peabody slap style a bad thing? would you rather get another banner and a spray like we used to in the good ol times instead of an extra FREE variant to a skin
put off the nostalgia glasses cause the ammount of shit you get in the battlepasses has been reduced a LOT and this is just a complaint to complain
Thanks for saying this, tired of these youtubers with nostalgia goggles just crying for made up issues.
I think if we got
The progression from the old
And the content from the new ones
That would be a better pick
wow you actually put out a good argument 🫂
okay so let me ask this whats special about the battlepasses now when everyone can unlock it easily why not get rid of the battlepass and just put the skins in the store
Played since season 2. I really Miss the simplicity of the old battle pass
The only problem I have with the current battle passes is the emotes most of are very forgetble and are not even dances.
Implementing emotes into quest would be cool
Yeah now a days it feels like a chore to get all the rewards and cosmetics in the battle pass and it gets really confusing I just prefer the simplicity of leveling up and getting the rewards overtime without having to use any over exaggerated battle stars and like you said don’t really like how edit styles are thrown in a whole page just for the sake of making the battle pass bigger when it could be like an omega/carbide thing where you get the edit styles through quests
I remember when Battle Passes were filled with ORIGINAL skins and not fucking Spider-Man or some shit I love Spider-Man as u can see from the pfp but like why u adding his ass to the BP bro where's the originality of the BP where did that go
Edit: before someone comes at me thinking I didn't get Spider-Man, I did get him, I just think it's lowkey dumb as fuck for fortnite to take one of the most popular superheroes and lock his ass up behind a battle pass...
Skins are just cosmetics. Not really that special unless it's a collab.
True man sucks Spiderman has to be locked in bp forever 😢 unless they create a new Spiderman skin for shop or sum
@@nazareth6262 well there’s the Spider-Man no way home one but that hasn’t came out in a long time
Funny how every battlepass for the last 2 years has had 6-7 original skins. Stop making up excuses to cry and admit that you're just blinded by nostalgia and nothing else😂
@@STK_Itsukathere are like 3 original skins in this BP..
OMG I finally found a good comment on this video😊
Especially the old skins! because nowadays people like myself only buy the battle passes for Collab skins :/
Yes that’s what I mean’t to say lol
9:16 ohm was cool, it could be your contrail and glider 💖
I don’t think that they were necessarily better, we were just less accustomed to the art styles of Fortnite back then.
tbh, i just wish epic gave us newer players a chance to get the older battlepasses, and maybe bring back older seasons in a more effiecent way. oh and stop the item shop rotation. but yea, i see old battle passes and i just feel like i missed out on so much, i hate fomo and how epic is using it
they need to fix so much with the game but they just wanna focus on getting as many collabs as possible as if quantity is perferable over quality (it isnt)
Fr, it sucks butt now.
@@ToastyBoi2005 exactly, im rather new in actually playing the game consistently, like epic could make the game so much better but insteads does crap like remove rarities and other things that NO ONE asked for
One thing, you cannot get the tier 100 without getting level 100, they block it even if you have enough stars.
Fr I miss when battle stars functioned like this and not the XP thing we have now
it use to take weeks to get too tier 100 (unless you payed $$)
now its just takes a week
Chapter 1 Season 4 was peak bro idc, No battlepass will ever beat it.
back then skins were beautiful, majestic, stylish and so on. but now skins are just ugly and gay...
I’d rather them do something like Halo Infinite where they lowered the pass down to 50 tiers but all the items are quality
I also think stuff like overtime challenge styles were both so much better and memorable than super styles
Also it sucks that new players can't get stuff like pets or toys anymore since 99% of them were locked behind old battle passes.
Season 4- Chapter 2 Season 3 was the elite days of battle passes
The one thing we want simpler but we don’t get it simpler
can we talk about how save the world founder account gets unlimited v bucks bs
Yeah. I do, sometimes there were ACTUALLY more then 1-2 good skins in 1 battle pass.
Get better preferences then.
Everything was so much better when we had battle stars for leveling bp
I miss the ch2 s2 pick your faction system
Remember when tier 1 skins were actually good 😢
Personally I like the stars system cuz it means you can get the rewards you actually want sooner but I do with the rewards would be a bit more varied, I feel like a mix between the old system and the new would work best
You still have to reach tier 100 to claim the final reward.
Chapter 1 battlepasses only got better when Season 5 came out
You can't unlock tier 100 until you unlocked all the 100 tiers
Actually you can unlock the tier 100 skin if you just get to level 86. But for the style/built-in emote yeah you can only get it if you unlocked all 100 tiers
Fortnite did 2 skins on the first level since season 4 chapter 1
Those edit styles they put in the passes are often times better than the base skin and sometimes I won’t even run the base version because the edit style is soo much better. I think edit styles are a much better reward than crap like emojis and sprays. I think that newer skins having lost of edit styles makes them far superior because some people might only like one style.
I believe the reason they won't bring back xp bonuses fir challenges is because of all the new modes and how much xp u can get from them
if yall didnt realize that games now are becomin way worse than the way they were back then call of duty is now bad just as the fortnite battlepass ,,,,its just that they are mostly interested with the money not the players benefits
this video was truly mystic
I wish they bought back 2 skins for battle pass again
Would you ever consider doing a video on how they could bring back old battle passes? Me personally, I think there should be an option to replace the current pass with an old one for the cost of a couple hundred more V-bucks. (And to compensate for the Og owners they could give a new style to a skin or two If the pass they owned reached a certain goal like 500 people purchasing it)
Will consider :)
Yes that would be so amazing!
@@itstrulymysticPlease do!
Nobody care about pets and toys from what I see 😂 even in game
1:54 Actually no, you can't skip to Megalo Don. You still have to unlock everything in the battlepass before you can get him.
True, it would ruin the "Rareness" or whatever but then again, this would be a big win for Epic. Maybe during the OG seasons? Or something like that.
100% agree with you.
You should have played back then🤷🏻♂️ they do more than enough reskins
@@gerbalsi did not have a console, a pc ou even a phone, how tf should i play
The only reason i bought the current battlepass was for the T60 power armor. If not for that, i probably wouldnt have bought it
MegaloDon is cool and the Brite Raider with the helmet reminds me of Twister from Twisted Metal 2 but I'll rarely even play those.
