_Cochin Shipyard_: One of the largest shipyards in India
_Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary_: A nesting ground for migratory birds and a haven for mangrove species
Economy and Infrastructure:
Ernakulam is a major economic hub, with a high Human Development Index of 0.801 ²
The district has a well-developed transportation network, with Cochin International Airport located at Nedumbassery
Ernakulam is connected to major cities in Kerala and Tamil Nadu through National Highways 66 and 544 ¹
Marine Drive, officially the APJ Abdul Kalam Marg,is a promenade in Kochi, India.It is built facing the backwaters. Despite its name, no vehicles are allowed on the walkway. With several shopping malls it is as an important centre of shopping activity in Kochi. The walkway starts from the Kerala High Court junction and continues until the Rajendra Maidan. There are also several boat jetties along the walkway.The walkway has three bridges: the Rainbow bridge, the Chinese Fishing Net Bridge and the House Boat Bridge.
