man, the bait ping controversy was always confusing to me to start with because I always used it properly, although alot of people had no clue how to actually bait people XD, Also spamming the dance animation to bait enemy team to come after you into the jungle for an ambush actually works surprisingly well... try it guys!
The hypocrisy of Riot... Every single emote is toxic. The idea of flashing an emote is toxic because that is the purpose of emotes. Wasn't that the reason to nerf the mastery emote into the small garbage we have now? Who the hell they think plays League of Legends?
I think labeling the entire system as toxic misunderstands toxicity. Firstly, I often use emotes to have little moments with my teammates. I main support, so if my ADC emotes at me, and especially if I have the same one, I'll emote back. A nice little moment that can make the lane more fun. If something funny happened, I pop laughing braum. If I missed a hook or made a silly move, toss up sipping Camille as a "we're not going to talk about it." There's lots of ways to have little moments with each other. Even when considered against the enemy team, there's a difference between competitive ribbing and toxicity. Take the akali emote change. The new one can easily be popped if your lane opponent talked shit in all chat and you just styled on them. You question if they want to keep talking. This is where the mute enemy team emotes function comes in. I'm not one for said ribbing usually, so i just have pretty much all communication from the enemy team muted. The original akali emote likely crossed the line beyond banter. Hence it was deemed toxic, hence it was removed. This is a similar debate behind the changes to being able to ping your allies or their ults. In some cases it was collaborative, some hype and positive, and some toxic. It's extremely difficult trying to allow the communication space for the first 2 while limiting the latter.
8:51 Ok, that surrender emote is ACTUALLY genius!! As an ARAM player, i can see myself spamming that nonstop while dancing next to the enemy's nexus... lmao
7:59 About the "L" emote actually is a Brazilian team named Loud, and there is a meme "Faz o L" that means "Make the L" (is a political joke that the team used) and when the team r winning their fans keep screaming "Faz o L" (Make the L) and do the L shape on their hand
8:00 To clarify, this emote was made by the CBLOL team, LOUD. Their players have the tag LLL and their players would use this emote when they win since it’s the gesture of the team. It’s mostly used to show that they’re LOUD.
5:08 - Vivo Keyd Stars. The Phanteon because they are called "warriors" by his fans. The costume because the coach (SeeEl) uses this a lot in stage and the Absolute Cinema i dont know for sure why
The black cat is Furia also from cblol. There is a meme AND a picture from an import doing the same thing pre game. I dont know if the picture comes before or after the emote thing
8:15 - ok. CBLOL again, Loud. the reference is "Faz o L" (do the L) that can get very political here in Brazil. but you can also look like LOOOOSEER. A great emote dont u think?
PANTHEON IS DOING THE ''ABSOLUTE CINEMA'' MEME, IS FROM KEYD STARS THE CAT IS A REFERENCE TO THE TV SERIES ''Sabrina the Teenage Witch" HER CAT, SALEM, HAVE ALSO A MEME WHERE IT WAS POLISHING THE NAILS, ALSO A FELINE BECAUSE FURIA MASCOT IS A PANTER
I think the big thing about this emotes is that they're supposed to be based on something that already exists on league. Like the Pantheon with the suit making the "Absolute Cinema" meme. The suit is a reference to the coach of Vivo Keyd Stars. The panther is probably based on Nidalee, and references the team Furia, which has a panther as a logo. And the orange blob is probably just Zac's hand. The L one is from LOUD eSports, bc that their signature "IRL Emote"
Personally I think emotes should have a little more leeway than pings. Pings are loud, can be put anywhere, and are essential communication. But pings are quiet, are only on your head (and the side of the screen which can be turned off) and you can mute them with no Ill effect.
the bait pengu should've been changed to use the missing ping question mark upside down instead of the bait ping hook, then it could still stay the same without being a double standard
Its funny because the neeko emote from the 3rd or "cutesy" batch and the akali emote doing the "faker pose" are basically doing the exact same gesture as the "problematic" akali. And koreans are seeing the "small pp" gesture anywhere.. game companies have to change so many artworks because of this. I'm wondering if riot will change those emotes as well, or if they will leave them the same. Maybe they will only change them in korea.
I believe the reason why the bait emote got the pass after the bait ping got removed is that pings can 100% be used for communication and many people use those as communication, while emotes aren't and are just for funsies (you wouldn't use an emote to say you're about to gank bot lane). Hiding pings can lead to more flaming ("Why did you go in I told you to wait" or "I pinged I'm coming to gank why did you leave?") and rage while hiding emotes don't do that.
The hand “Take the L” is for Loud esports from Brazil, it’s on his gauntlet in green And my favorite is definitely Jinx ff, but her team is shown on her necklace it’s Kmancorp I think?(EU) Maybe I’m wrong and it’s a Chinese/korean team I’m not 100% familiar with (Or copium kasante hahah)
Little Explanation for Necrit, the L emote is from the team Loud,so theyre basically just showing of their teams name first inital. + Their "short" name is also LLL
Yeah no, its not comming back. Megalian and the C gesture created many many MANY problems to many different companies, its still to this day very controversial. Tv stations talked about the effects that had come from this, to this day the genre wars on Korea are catastrophic. I dont think League wants to take an stance on this. For some this is just a funny haha emote but Korea... oh man. Search for the story and how everything sort of kick started from a gacha not making the swimsuit of a girl sexy enough. it goes deep.

I'm pretty sure the thing with the Akali emote is about the korean (gacha?) game drama where they don't like characters doing the 'pinching' gesture' or something like that. Edit: Welp, I guess I should've just continued watching lol.
4:40 The 2nd in the 2nd row is from Loud, a Brazilian team. It's an "L", in relation to the team's name. (although "make the L" is currently better known in relation to politics).
you didnt explain deeply the reasons why some emotes are changed. I think its the right time to know a little bit of knowledge about esports of league of legends.
The L one is from the "Loud" Team from CBLOL, it is what all its members do to represent the team, so i dont think is going away. but even in brasil using the "L" can spark controversy, but in a diferent way xD
If anyone wants to know more about the "smol pp" akali emote and why it's so problematic in Korea, a channel called "Moon Channel" has some (in my opinion) incredibly well-made videos on the topic. they might be a bit hidden in their portfolio but they're about gacha drama and the "korean gender war"
9:42 Naafiri emote represent VCS team Ceberus which is a 3 head dog. Volibear? I don't know, maybe MGN esports The Akali one is from Team Secret, you know, Akali is doing the "shh"=secret. Thing like that.

Maybe they will only change them in korea.
stonks emote with heartsteel is a combo ill be running
I believe the reason why the bait emote got the pass after the bait ping got removed is that pings can 100% be used for communication and many people use those as communication, while emotes aren't and are just for funsies (you wouldn't use an emote to say you're about to gank bot lane).
Hiding pings can lead to more flaming ("Why did you go in I told you to wait" or "I pinged I'm coming to gank why did you leave?") and rage while hiding emotes don't do that.
ya know.. league players deserve some fun. thank god.
The hand “Take the L” is for Loud esports from Brazil, it’s on his gauntlet in green
And my favorite is definitely Jinx ff, but her team is shown on her necklace it’s Kmancorp I think?(EU) Maybe I’m wrong and it’s a Chinese/korean team I’m not 100% familiar with
(Or copium kasante hahah)
It's obviously not just a witch hunt against imaginary feminists if you read the comments under any youtube video discussing this. People body shame men for their genitals, and they directly connect it to race, which is even weirder. This is the main thing that is criticized, whether or not feminists or specifically megalia did the same thing in the past doesn't matter.
I don't see any emote shaming women for their body parts and riot would never even get the idea to do that for very good reasons.
The same people making fun of the emoji ban would watch 2 hour youtube essays about misogyny in gaming if something like this was normalized to such an extend in reverse. Such an obvious double standard.
That cat is Salem from Sabrina, there’s a meme of him finding his nails in a threatening/not impressed way
10:00 If I had a nickel for every time Akali had a Faker pose emote, I'd have a dime. Which isn't a lot,but it's weird that it happened twice.
I'd go back to playing League if they ever revert the changes to that Akali emote.
you didnt explain deeply the reasons why some emotes are changed. I think its the right time to know a little bit of knowledge about esports of league of legends.
The L one is from the "Loud" Team from CBLOL, it is what all its members do to represent the team, so i dont think is going away. but even in brasil using the "L" can spark controversy, but in a diferent way xD
I would say the pengu is ather :"going fishing" or still just bait but with extra efort
The Cat is da " Try me Bitch" Meme :D
The L emote is from a CBLOL team called Loud (LLL) they have this "Do the L" thing fans say to cheer for the team
The Akali PP emote is a MUST HAVE
7:43 - looks like the ear and the hand
Guess I’m showing my age when I say that I legit interpreted the censored Akali emote as “so close, but not close enough” 😂
Volibear? I don't know, maybe MGN esports
The Akali one is from Team Secret, you know, Akali is doing the "shh"=secret. Thing like that.
@ 8:53 , that is Karmine Corp
bro is a 40 year old man, the pantheon is the "absolute cinema" meme
Megalia is hugely controversial in Korea so it makes sense tha riot wanted to avoid it just in case.
Dont wanns get hit by a boycott
Please like the league community can boycott. Remember the ahri boycott that lasted a whole 2 weeks and yet still made multi millions?
Akali's one looks like she has sharingan...
11:40 "you were this close"
Bring back the akali emote. It’s funny.
8:00 OMG the "Faz o L"
after i see this, realized I am old, have never changed my emotos:)
HAHHAHAHAHAHA the megalian sign akali emote LMAO, they have no idea what just happened
