Yeah, because of these practices I quit collecting certain skin lines or getting every cosmetic possible for my mains, I must thank riot because now I'm barely spending money in their game, now I just get the things I really want and that's nothing compared to 1 or 2 years ago
that was me with the recent garen skin i used to get every skin for him even grinded out the prestige one was like im cool off that my tcg addiction is more important of a money sink lmao
Same with the main skins situation. I used to try to collect every skin for my precious champion. Then the thematics become approximately the same. Then all super ultra rare skins happened and now I don’t care.
For real, I bought only 1 skin in months and months and it was in 'Your shop' so with a huge sale, used to buy almost all passes each year, probably been 2 years since I bought the last one, not even my mains got skins tbh: panth shyvana diana (only diana got one and it isnt even that good)
"collector" : you mean whale? Because you don't have any physical goods. The only way to "show your collection" is by opening your account and brag. Why does a whale spend so much money ? To brag. Whale.
I think Necrit banned the word describing large spenders in the comments. But in essence, that's a collector... Except they are collecting digital things... which can't be resold... And the only thing they can do is brag about what they bought... Just like a large spender. So collector = large spender = a large aquatic mammal. People are just so normalized to the idea of micro transactions that they forget that they are becoming those large aquatic mammals (Which, btw, is fine by me. Be those large spenders financing the game I'm not willing to. But creating drama on a system y'all created because you can't control yourself is just making me laugh)
In Brazil, we have a *law* that prohibits "tied sales." If a store advertises a "buy this combo to get this item" offer, they must also sell the items separately. This law even applies to McDonald's kids' toys. Some games, including League of Legends (for chromas, as far as I know), also follow this law, but it doesn't cover all cosmetics. I wish this law were the standard worldwide.

Sorry but if you're ready to spend $500+ just for a little emote in a game, I don't think anything is going to stop you from making terrible life decisions, whether it's buying things from Riot or anyone else.
I don't see anything new. That's why I think money should be, not equally spread, but a bit balanced out, because people with way too much money waste a lot of it on useless rubbish while other people struggle to keep up with the basic needs.
As an emote collector I stopped getting exited just because some emotes that were free are not available any more because they were tied to an event pass (like TFT pass) that was available before my account existed and now there is no way to obtain it. Riot could make them available in many different ways but they won't, while limited edition skins were made available (event passes or the new TFT rotation shop, unlock to be available on emote tokens, etc)
you do break my heart , why always Ahri? It hurts so much, Ahri was my only way to escape my poor reality now thanks to you I have to suffer here too, seeing what I can't have , it is very painful
my biggest gripe is that literally EVERY Viego emote is an exclusive paid pass / FOMO emote. he doesnt even get 1 shop / reroll emote but Briar gets one on launch.
They are limited too. After they are pulled from the Riot Store you need to be chosen from a list to be able to purchase them at full price from the manufacturer themselves. At least from PureArts.
My biggest gripe with the emote system as a whole tho isn't even due to esports or even pricey emotes its all because of tft, tft added a massive amount of emotes because they for the longest time had 3+ emotes in the battle pass most of which were at the very end this meant that if you wanted to collect all the emotes not only could you not reroll into them but you had to play a mode you might not even enjoy, I know for a fact alot of ahri mains were spam leaving tft games after the first 10 minutes to farm the emotes out either at work or even during school (had a friend in my uni class literally doing this while in a lecture).

lmao same but for russia. no need to suffer the fomo from emotes if you can't get your statue bought & shipped to you directly 😎 (and no, it is not the payment problem, a lot of russians do have a foreign bank card to buy stuff online) kind of sucks if you want the statue itself tho. contacting buyers and spending on their fees is tedious
Necrit, you are missing 1 imortent fact. People buy this stuff to show off. But you can't show off of a statue online, by attaching an emote, everyone who mains the champ will know that you have the atatue hidden at home, the moment you show off the emote. Ita atupid but psychologiclly, it works.
I'm thinking the same thing through out the whole video, it's more of a bragging item ingame to show off than a quality icon, if you really are a Lux collector then buy the statue, don't try to brag about a statue you don't have
I am playing this game on a whole new level Collecting emotes in loot, got over 200 of a single emote and maybe like 250 of esports emotes that you can't reroll
I mean, I bought the Lux statue because it's beautiful, and I love Lux, I don't really care about the emote (I only remembered to redeem it when I saw your video). It's the only merch I've ever bought, actually.
If you think about it from another angle (from people like you who wants the statue), bonus Icon is just a thank you and a ingame bragging item So I don't really get how big of a deal for a 15 mins build up video just to say "I want this sticker but it's a no sell additional gift, now I can't brag about a statue I don't have"
Emotes are why I started buying the event passes. I'd play a ton of games and accumulate a lot of points from the pass, then mass buy emotes. This first event where they were even slightly cheaper was where I got the idea. Even now though, the cost hasn't gone up much, and at 60 *event currency* per emote, it's still easy to get at least 30+ even with minimal playing. But if you really wanna maximize, play a lot more during that event pass, and save all the money. 😁 Beauty is, you can still reforge them at a 1 for 1 rate. By doing this after you've collected all of the store ones, you are even able to get some of the seasonal ones, or otherwise inaccessible ones. I like getting the emotes for the champions I main, and it makes it a lot easier to get new (store released) ones very fast, if they happen to have one I like. I'm sitting at around 425 emotes, and I've probably legit bought 10 of them. This is definitely the best way to do it, especially when you have no interest in the other things they offer in the shop. $15-20 for 30+ emotes? The most cost efficient way to do it XD
I bought the Kai'sa statue, won't lie I did just want the emote but I've had it equipped since I bought it, I don't think anyone else knows where it's from or what it cost.

i barely played in season 10 to 12, during dat time riot dropped zoe emotes (for worlds) i believe which i wanted to have but just wasnt around for. i thought if i get all the available emotes and then reroll leftover copies i can get those kinda emotes, like with legacy skins but nope, you cant. i own over 400 emotes now because of dat. the way i did it is during event passes i would grind and buy the orbs so i can get random emotes, and when i had all of the available ones i tried rerolling them. oh well, riot with their shitty monetization, locking stuff behind being unavailable. its really bad in the cardgame too... like all the profile icons and stuff being locked behind 1 time events is so stupid.
Might be a good price bundle wise but if you live in Australia you can expect to pay $214 USD for shipping and yes that's just shipping so $314 USD over all
The esports icons and emotes repeat every year when you get all the new ones (which isn't hard) it's really just the ones that get bundled with the physical pass that you're SoL for
There was a Poppy emote of her sleeping and after spending a large amount of time searching where to find it I found out it was an LCS drop. So I sat there with multiple streams/vods open and never once saw it

I had a lot of BE and I spend all of it on the champie icons, even making a list to keep track of which one I already got. It was a gamble per chest, yes, but it was 2500 BE aka FREE. and if you owned all of them from a region you could get the BE back if you bought another one. I have all of them and change my icons from time to time a champ i like to play atm.
Well I think this is fine, these statues would cost the same with or without the emote, so it is to be considered a free extra if you buy those. And as a collector there will always be items that are out of reach for some people. If you are invested in Kaisa and have the money to spend, you would get the statue anyway. if you don't have the money, it doesn't matter if you only miss out on the statue, or the statue and the one emote which comes with it.
TFT mode and Esports-exclusive loots with near impossible drop rates are the main reason I don't have both Swain emotes. I hate limited stuff. I hate exclusivity.
I really was looking forward to getting the world's $100 bundle, even if it was more than that in my currency, but the shipping costs being almost $250 USD on top of the $100 USD pricetag makes it completely unworth it.
When Teemote got locked permanently behind an event I failed to complete, I unironically stopped collecting Teemo skins & emotes, and ultimately ended up quitting the game shortly after
certain huge aquatic animal exists that is used on certain group of people Riot: alright, pants down, bend over, time for your every 2 week update to the buttom
I have 620 emotes and I have not spend a $ on emotes. Esport drops were insane back in the day and you can just reroll into shop emotes. (They have changed that system now)
I’ve been playing league for a LONG time and I legit have zero clue as to how rare any of the emotes are, nor do I ever really use them. The fact that people spend money on them is pretty insane to me
Well it's not a emote but I bought many years ago God Staff Jax figure mostly because it came with a Jax icon. Funny enough the shipping service never delivered the product, it was sendback to the warehouse and I got full refund from Riot so basically I got the icon for free. Wouldn't have minded the figure tho I think it was pretty neat.
At least with the statues, you can buy them, wait a few months or so till it's out of stock then sell it for more money, or less if you don't care for profit. Pretty sure collectable statues like that sell pretty well, especially one that is out of stock
Maybe an unpopular opinion but as long as Riot keeps a few things constant I do not see the problem with these overly priced cosmetics and marketing schemes: Relatively cheap content is somewhat good, Earning cosmetics through engagement, Content stays cosmetic, Trying to help people that seem to have a problem with overspending with a low income, Making sure to still develop the game into something better for all not pivoting too hard into cosmetics. I just do not feel like whaling is something that should be cheap but a way of the company to earn money. That has been the case for most collectibles since at least for as long as I have lived no? (Early 2000) It is a way for me to enjoy the game for free right?
I spend my event points for the emotes all the time. I don’t go hard on it like I don’t spend real money on it but I’m pretty proud of my collection I’ve made.
$500 is not a microtransaction it's a macrotransaction

I love all my Ahri emotes 🩷 specially the KitKat one 🍫 Ahri & chocolate is a big mood 🩷🌸
When Teemote got locked permanently behind an event I failed to complete, I unironically stopped collecting Teemo skins & emotes, and ultimately ended up quitting the game shortly after
K.O. and GAME OVER emote form Arcade event is the best
the emotes/icons from merch can be given to anyone, they just ask you to put the account u want it on
certain huge aquatic animal exists that is used on certain group of people
Riot: alright, pants down, bend over, time for your every 2 week update to the buttom
I have 620 emotes and I have not spend a $ on emotes. Esport drops were insane back in the day and you can just reroll into shop emotes. (They have changed that system now)
Teemo gets more love in emotes than in game
I’ve been playing league for a LONG time and I legit have zero clue as to how rare any of the emotes are, nor do I ever really use them. The fact that people spend money on them is pretty insane to me
Well it's not a emote but I bought many years ago God Staff Jax figure mostly because it came with a Jax icon. Funny enough the shipping service never delivered the product, it was sendback to the warehouse and I got full refund from Riot so basically I got the icon for free. Wouldn't have minded the figure tho I think it was pretty neat.
The newest Jinx Arcane figure also comes with an in game icon, but it's cheap compared to the others at like 40$
everything i need is ok rammus
When they make an Akali statue you can bet I'm all over that XD
I remember how small the merch store of LoL in South Korea, that I was only able to buy one of their Worlds Jacket. It was cool, but very small
At least with the statues, you can buy them, wait a few months or so till it's out of stock then sell it for more money, or less if you don't care for profit. Pretty sure collectable statues like that sell pretty well, especially one that is out of stock
Maybe an unpopular opinion but as long as Riot keeps a few things constant I do not see the problem with these overly priced cosmetics and marketing schemes:
Relatively cheap content is somewhat good,
Earning cosmetics through engagement,
Content stays cosmetic,
Trying to help people that seem to have a problem with overspending with a low income,
Making sure to still develop the game into something better for all not pivoting too hard into cosmetics.
I just do not feel like whaling is something that should be cheap but a way of the company to earn money. That has been the case for most collectibles since at least for as long as I have lived no? (Early 2000) It is a way for me to enjoy the game for free right?
i only spent on one emote and it was Aurora's smug face referencing Frieren and it was damn worth it
the one fucking time i feel like collecting kai'sa cosmetics i find out that a near 1k statue of kai'sa has an emote and it's no longer available
Everything has a dark side to it
thank you for talking about this i hate how they put some emote behind 500$ price or a 800$ gaming chair
I spend my event points for the emotes all the time. I don’t go hard on it like I don’t spend real money on it but I’m pretty proud of my collection I’ve made.
ah fuck, that Lux Statue does look amazing
