HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.

I'm a massive evergoods fan (just grabbed another CAP1 + CAP2 in red) but this one is pretty confusing. Not only in the layout/use-case, but at $90 USD its probably $40 more it should be (in my eyes).
Great video, as always, thank you. It's nice to see such a sleeve pouch. I think the pouch is for minimalist carry for work and travel from the shape. I'm thinking it with fit an 11 inch tablet with keyboard, documents, A4 or A5 notebook, etc. - just flat items. The two small pouch / slot in the middle will fit something like a flat powerbank, cable, SSD, A6 notebook, passport, travel card, earbud etc to hold them firm and avoid sliding around and I think they are zipped to hold it together so even better. I think it has a pen slot, too. The waterproof build /material suggests you could go out with just the pouch or slide it into a bag. I see how it could fit into my daily work, carry or travel. I have something similar but a different brand and not waterproof, so this is even better.
It's nice in theory, like you said, but the fact that actual business papers, man, don't fit is weird to me. Considering they advertised this to be compatible to fit in the laptop compartments and front pocket. But then they showcase it's versatilility by putting a bulky camera in it, making it useless in any other pocket other than the main compartment.
Well said. Haven't thought about that way. Good point
It looks like it would be more suitable for carrying some paperwork, legal briefs, notes and things of that type, maybe an iPad or iPad Mini. Does it fit A4 or US Letter sized papers without having to squash them in sideways into the opening?
Din a4 doesn't fit unfortunately.
It seems to be a cutting edge design, better for documents and stationary than tech objects.
Cant even fit standard a4 documents though
I'm a huge evergoods fan but unfortunately this was an immediate 'nope' for me. Just looking at it I knew that all of your points would be true. I'll stick to the cap1/cap2 for now.
The cap2 and 1 are amazing and very solid pouches. Granted I struggle using the cap1 but the cap2 is perfect for my use cases
Hi Bo - what is the small power bank that can charge your Samsung watch? At 13:28?
Dealers have a more secure bag to use in giving cash now
😂
A transport sleeve of this would be game changing
Can it fit headphones when they are flat?
It's a cool idea, but the usecase is a bit off notably with it not having any padding. It's seemingly made to protect paper which isn't needed nearly as mych anymore. A rare miss from Evergoods but I'm really excited for the rest of the Elements line.
Totally agree with your points. Thanks for watching ✌️😉
Nice post Bo . I’m with you , looking forward to seeing what they do with this material
Thanks for watching, Mate
This confirms my suspicion of Evergoods. Their marketing seems to revolve around some identity of being a company of genius men from Montana. This pouch is a demonstration of their hubris.
Unfortunately, since English is just a second language for me , I don't really understand this comment. Could you elaborate?
I kind of agree, they talk about their products like they’re the “Steve Jobs” of backpacks and carry equipment, but a lot of it feels like it’s being “different” purely for the sake of being different.
This product seems like a first-gen tech demo for the fabric and RF welding production process, which I’m excited to see in the future. But this product specifically seems most useful for people who use an iPad and commute to work using a canoe…
@@capnkillbot Well put. I'll say the RF technology is valid (albeit not anything new) but again EGs execution and willingness to charge a premium for incomplete "genius" rubs me the wrong way. Across their products there's examples of overdesign AND design oversight. The EDI pouch is emblematic of this..
That's true, and I think nothing is wrong as long as the products can back that up. In their long lines of products, this is the first one that totally and unanimously missed the mark to me. So I think they're still doing great considering the bigger picture. Hey even Steve Jobs had a few misses.
@@JM356 Strongly disagree with the statement that EG's marketing revolves around them being "genius men from Montana". They're legit passionate about what they do and they have the expertise to back it up. This product and some of their others aren't for me because of my use case but to say or imply that they make bad products is way off the mark.
What black bag is at 0:14 (directly after the long wooden table shot)??
ProTip: Hit spacebar to pause, then use comma and period keys (greather than/less than) to advance frame by frame.
I believe it's the 5.11 rush 12 . I'm on my phone at the moment, so it's hard to scrub through the video th-cam.com/video/VRhSyyrNeRY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QgYUxI_lcgvvFHM7
I think EG is doing a market test with this, trying a more sleek product for business people.
Interesting viewpoint. Haven't thought about it that way
I can't think of a single, personal use case for this. The dimensions don't make sense to me, and I rarely like pouches that have a single-sided zipper opening, simply because it's too limiting to get things in and out of the pouch.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts ✌️
Bo, you're one of the few reviewers being honest about this product.
Its a huge miss from EG. And their response has been to double down on the product. Now, i don't mind paying for quality, but $90 for a lackluster organizer is a bit much.
What responses from them have indicated a double down? Genuinely curious
Thank you very much. May I also ask like William out of curiosity: what do you mean by "double down"?
This feels like more of a niche product. A lot of people that carry things like documents like to be able to open something like a binder to access them without having to pull them out. You can obviously put other items in there but depending on what it is, it can quickly become bulky which kinda defeats the purpose of a slim pouch like that. I don't think it's a bad product and I know they're diving into more weather resistant items but this seems like somewhat of a strange decision.
I saw this and thought maybe a $49 product max. Surprised at the price. It just doesn’t seem like something that the value proposition makes sense.
I might prefer the Waterfield Air Caddy instead of this. Not waterproof but easier access.
Why would you put bulky items in it?? The first time I saw this, I thought, oh ok, a very fancy, highly water-resistant document pouch/holder or a Magpul Daka pouch alternative with a little bit of extra depth. For me personally, though, there is no need for this, especially at this price point. I'm still happy with my Daka pouches.
Honestly, when I first saw this I wouldn't have thought about putting bulky stuff into it. But after my first testing phase I watched their video because I wasn't sure how they intended this to be used. And in the video they showed a camera inside. That is why I showcased it in this video. But I agree: I wouldn't put a bulky camera inside
I bought a similar pouch from Chrome Industries for $40 10 years ago.
Moment mal, das ist eine Geldmappe / Banktasche der Deutschen Bank
😂😂😂😂
👍
Thanks for watching ✌️😊
I agree completely. It's a beautifully made and design object, but very limited use case. If there is a half height version just for smaller item that may make more sense. This is too much of a "black hole" for items that people usually EDC in such a large pouch.
Good idea and good point. Thanks for watching ✌️😉
I have to agree. No idea what I would do with this either.
✌️😉
evergoods have been spot on with their past backpacks and pouches, making me justified their high price to the value they bring. But seeing from some reviews, this one just does not convince me, especially with that price. I thought it was at least a big ipad or a laptop pouch/sleeve/folio, but I think it only fit an ipad mini (cmiiw). I love EG and looking forward with what are they gonna do with this material in the future.
Thanks for watching. And I agree: looking forward to see how they utilize this material in future products
Totally agree with you! I love Evergoods but this product just doesn't really make sense to me... I see it more as technology show piece than an actual product mainly because of the price. Let's hope the new element series stuff will be more interesting!
It's basically an over-engineered, overpriced notebook folio lol. A rare fail from Evergoods - it seems to me to be more like something that is in the middle of product development, rather than a finished article.
This was a big fail for Evergoods. But, I hope something cool comes out the process’s that were learned in making this pouch.
Not sure if I would call it fail, but I do think that the creation of this product has given them a lot of new knowledge and new production methods
Much too specialized for my use case. The materials do look very nice, though.
Thanks for watching, William
It is an impulse buy.
