Radiator fan switch. Which is located on the thermostat housing. May as well upgrade it to the Mishimoto. Turns that fan's on at a lower temp. Great for track setup.
Yo! Great video. Installed one of these shifters lastnight on my hatchback. Made the circuit hero shifter plate for mine too but used carbon steel and clear coated it. Couldn't see paying so much for one. Easy
george bonney90 👍🏻 or have a switch to just bypass the whole thing and turn them on when your at a stop. (As a double edge sword) when you have your car off, you can throw your switch on to cool your engine down. But if you forget you have them on, you will start killing your battery little by. little
Idk if anyone has mentioned it yet, but ktuned make a different elbow peice specifically for the ek to keep from jamming your hand into the dash in 1,3 and 5th gear, if you so happen to run into this issue, it's about $40.
Congratulations Rob on the new addition to the Refine Movement family. Still rocking my sticker on the EG, quality sticker love it. $6 even to Australia :p
Congrats Rob! Glad to hear your gonna build the transmission. I recommend the 4.7 final gear and if you want synchro's get Honda factory replacement. I have heard synchrotech fail under heat and stress. I fell you man I am itching to race myself but I am building everyone else's cars. It's fun but I want to work on my own projects.
Thanks for tips Nick! What tranny is the 4.7 out of ? Or is it an aftermarket final drive? I’m a newb to this stuff. I hope you can get on track soon man!
Refine Movement no it is an M factory gear set. 500 bucks but worth it. Obx diff is about 350 not bad for what you get. The good thing is you will have a bullet proof trans at that point. There really isn't any swappable final drives for the d series unlike the B series. The B VTEC transmissions are different too. It is the countershaft that the final gear is attached to and they are different for all the transmissions. Your Si trans has good gear sets especially for the track, close 1 thru 4. 5th is short too so your rpms will be high cruising highways.
Hey did anyone else have an issue with the shifter hitting their exhaust? I have a skunk2 exhaust, could it be possible I installed the bitch pin side upside down?
Going to the FIRM sometime in sept? I've been wanting to go back, but it comes down to avoiding the florida heat lol. Are you running solid mounts to use those metal bushings? And much more does the shifter vibrate?
We’re hoping for September. Yeah the bushings mount straight up. I’ve heard other people complain about the vibrations but it didn’t seem to change much at all for me. I like it alot
What is the advantage of solid shifter bushing vs. something like Energy Suspension? I just picked up a '98 Sedan and it needs bushings, so I'm thinking of ES & a short throw shifter to make my daily commute a little more fun.
It’s just about feel. The solid was a step up from the ES bushing, but it can be annoying to some as there can be unwanted vibrations. The ES was good for me on the street.
You should really consider wrapping your header. Only cost like $40 and dramatically lowers under hood temps. Using an infrared thermometer, my 95 hatch's header went from about 670°F unwrapped down to about 275°! That's a huge drop.
+Refine Movement Yeah, it did more than I thought it would, it'll also keep more radiant heat away from your radiator, oil pan, and intake. I got mine off eBay, just look up titanium header wrap, I think I got a 50ft roll and wrapped it all the way to the cat connection. Prevents burning yourself too if you need to do anything under the hood at the track. You can install it in an afternoon and do it wet or dry, overlapping half the wrap. I did it dry, just wear gloves and a face mask. It's been on over 2 years on a cheap eBay header, no cracks or issues. It really is amazing stuff, can't recommend it enough.
Great video Travis nice length congratulations Robbie on newborn you'll make a great father also are you guys planning anything special for 20000 subscribers your about there
Question for some honda guys. Im looking at buying a 1 owner super clean stock 97 civic DX. Its a 5 speed new timing belt and h2o pump and new clutch. But it has 218k miles is it worth it to have as a daily? Its stock non VTEC SOHC any input would be great !
That sounds like a good car to buy overall big plus that it has those new parts. My 1998 is the same car and has about the same mileage. For a daily driver it should be fine but with that mileage things will need to be replaced. the suspension and steering components could be all bad if they haven’t been changed in a while or ever ie bushings, tie rods, struts/shocks. Check the fluids to make sure they are newer and haven’t been there 2 decades. At 200k my power steering was leaking.
Refine Movement Thank You so much for your reply ! Ill check it out with a little more ease of mind then. Once im back in the honda game, ill have to rock one of yals stickers.
I like the way you are upgrading your car. Not ricer at all.. I own a Honda EJ8 coupe same color as your civic. And even if my car is automatic, pull hard. I'm working on the suspension, having some problems removing the bushing bolts because this car was from the bay area, the bolts seized inside the bushings. Other upgrades are tuner upgrades, Not ricer sht 😂, Great videos...
That Circuit Hero shift knob looks great!
Welcome to fatherhood Robbie. I have a kid also. It's a beautiful experience.
Thank you for the detailed install, really helpful.
Thank you so much, these instructions were really clear, I can confidently do this now
Congrats Rob!! Travis, the car is looking good
It could be the coolant temp switch hook fans up strait to batt.just to make sure they work
Radiator fan switch. Which is located on the thermostat housing. May as well upgrade it to the Mishimoto. Turns that fan's on at a lower temp. Great for track setup.
I’ll look into that ! Thanks !
So happy the place I ordered the aluminum bushing from ran out of the circuit hero one and asked if I’d mind a blox one instead which is split
Love the videos man, like how you did step by step explained it all through
5:05 Install start
Yo! Great video. Installed one of these shifters lastnight on my hatchback. Made the circuit hero shifter plate for mine too but used carbon steel and clear coated it. Couldn't see paying so much for one. Easy
That’s awesome you made your own!
Cost me about $6
Awesome congratulations Rob! So good!
Binge watched the project EK... subscribed...
Thank you!
If it fans work ok it almost has to be the switch that turns them on,if u have to u can jump the coolant switch plug and fans will run continuously
george bonney90 👍🏻 or have a switch to just bypass the whole thing and turn them on when your at a stop. (As a double edge sword) when you have your car off, you can throw your switch on to cool your engine down. But if you forget you have them on, you will start killing your battery little by. little
Yeah in my opinion you'd only wanna jump the coolant temp sensor/switch if u have too, also by turning on the AC the fans will run, if u have AC
george bonney90 indeed I would go with your solution first and if yours does not work, go for a simple switch.
Congratulations Rob i wish you the best for your family! Travis nice Video!

Yes I’ve heard of that but it’s seems to be fine on my car.
Nice review and install Travis! And congrats to Robbie
Congratulations Rob on the new addition to the Refine Movement family. Still rocking my sticker on the EG, quality sticker love it. $6 even to Australia :p
Thanks for your support Alex!
No problems guys, keep up the great content and I'll keep supporting :)

@RefineMovement- Whats the name of the Rubber grommet that you have to replace? I am looking for it
Congratulations rob!!!
Nice video!! And congratulations Travis!!
I ment Rob. And his new born. Lol
Can somebody link me that metal bracket under the red bushing on the shifter above exhaust
This video was really helpful thank you !!! And I was having trouble because I didn’t have the washers, does anybody know where to get them?
This video help me Install my replica shifter which is identical to the ktuned thank you.
Those rims are fucking sick. Car looks good
Nice video, now i know allready with bushing to buy before install ;)
WHAT HOOD SCOOP OR HOOD IS ON THE CAR?
Hey did anyone else have an issue with the shifter hitting their exhaust? I have a skunk2 exhaust, could it be possible I installed the bitch pin side upside down?
What hood vent is that
Going to the FIRM sometime in sept? I've been wanting to go back, but it comes down to avoiding the florida heat lol.

We’re hoping for September. Yeah the bushings mount straight up. I’ve heard other people complain about the vibrations but it didn’t seem to change much at all for me. I like it alot
He means the engine mounts - with the solid shifter mount, any engine movement might compromise shifting.
Will this make it vibrate a lot?
What is the advantage of solid shifter bushing vs. something like Energy Suspension? I just picked up a '98 Sedan and it needs bushings, so I'm thinking of ES & a short throw shifter to make my daily commute a little more fun.

Hi Rob, great video! Can you tell me wich shift knob you use.? Thx
Circuit hero
Part number for the rubber grommet
Thanks for this! Been slacking on installing mine lol looks like a shit ton of work haha. Keep on keepin on!

Wow! That’s a huge difference I didn’t realize it would be that dramatic. Where did you get the wrap you used?
+Refine Movement Yeah, it did more than I thought it would, it'll also keep more radiant heat away from your radiator, oil pan, and intake. Awesome thanks for the tip I will probably do it!
What kind of pedals are those ? Are they type r pedals ?
Great video Travis nice length congratulations Robbie on newborn you'll make a great father also are you guys planning anything special for 20000 subscribers your about there
Thanks ! I have been thinking about trying do something for 20k not sure what though. Maybe a sticker giveaway of some kind

Sounds good man good luck! - Travis
my experience at those miles is to watch out for all the old coolant hoses and be ready to replace them asap if they are old and hard.
aw614 ill def check that out while im at it thanks!
Do you notice any more vibration or noise with this modification? I have a gutted interior as well
None
I was looking into to the lean back k tuned. Do u having any issues when shifting to third and the shifter hitting the dash?
no issues with this version. KTuned sent me a lean back version recently that I will be installing sometime this year
I like the way you are upgrading your car.
Not ricer at all..

Do You have the part number of the rubber grommet? Thanks for the vídeo!
Have you found the part number perhaps?
I think its so stupid when people say there not a wiring guy 🙄it's so simple and it's pretty much the heart of the motor
Congratulations
Where did you buy that full size radiator?
Barbas Life that’s the integra radiator
People recommend to use PU motor mounts with solid bushings.
I had PU in there and they are better then stock but I wanted a firmer feel #becauseracecar
That nice bro good work 😎
Thanks!
14:12 Must’ve been Opposite Day
Well explained
Great vid homie!
Thank you!
dang the baby is 3 now
Its the relay, you are pulling to much using both fans maybe hard wire to fusebox and a switch to turn on as needed
it's cool
👍👍
Dash delete and a tablet for your gauges next (weight deduction) ? CONGRATS Rob!!!! 👌🏎🎣
That would be epic!
Refine Movement i wanna do it as well 👌 🏎
Hmmm. I clearly told u to do both fans and u said it wouldn’t fit due to the new header. Now ur saying “decided to” lol. Looks good 👏
Yeah it’s real close but it does fit. Thanks for always being there to troll me. Much appreciated
Refine Movement hahaha. U got it lol. Just don’t ever take it personal.
Them dimes solid bushing are A waste of money if already had poly bushings.
I had the poly bushings for a few years and never felt much of a difference from stock. The solid bushings really gave me the feel I was looking for.
Refine Movement lol it’s in your head man.
Adopt me. I want to have a honDAD.
Really?! He had a boy?! But I didn’t see his pregnant stomach inflate!
What you should do is b swap it lol
Send me a B and I’ll put it in, no problem
Refine Movement understand how that is lol
Not worth it. Barely a shorter throw.
