Amazing watch… easily the watch of the show so far… this is the only watch that can match and exceed the 36mm Explorer, albeit in slightly different ways, as a perfect 1-watch collection… well done IWC!
HMMM, I have the 39mm Explorer but also have a GS Skyflake which with its beautiful dial, 72 hour PR, amazing accuracy, exhibition caseback and 100WR I often think of as a perfect 1 watch collection. And with drilled lugs strap changes from dress to sporty to a bracelet are easy peasy.
@@Alex-Rainmaker I have the 36mm Explorer which is super cool, easily my favorite Rolex and I’ve had a few… the difference is that Genta mystique… and it’s noticeable, but not as a negative towards the Explorer but more of a “je ne sais quoi” type of way… no one knew it at the time obviously, but boy did IWC get lucky with the decision to commission Genta and the result… what’s that old saying? So many watches, so little money? haha 😂
You can’t compare a Mass- produced and machines produced Rolex with this Iconic IWC Ingenieur 😂😂… this IWC Finishing is top notch. If you handled , you will see the price is well justified
Understand the watch has the same movement as the Mark XX for only double the price - 12,7k EUR. And for just another 3.000 EUR more you could even get it in Titanium! Stopped counting the alternatives I could buy for that amount of money...
Love it! ..but @ £10500 there are better value references even from IWC. You are paying a premium because of the original designer. wait a couple of yrs and buy pre-owned for £5k
yes they are pricey, but my god these will age well. Timeless full on, and I don't mind the case back. And this videonis by far the most accurate hands on emphasizing the looks and feel
The music sounds like something from Blade Runner…. The new Ingenieur is a tad too spendy for me, considering there is no micro-adjustment on the bracelet.
I'm glad the Ingenieur is back, but I have mixed feelings about what I have seen so far. First, this does not look like a $12,000 watch to me. What am I missing here? Second, the unadulterated milking of Genta's name is a bit nauseating within all of the promotional material for this watch.
I have the Mark XX which has the same movement. It runs incredibly accurately when it is fully or near fully wound. Unfortunately, when I leave it in my drawer for a few days and it is in the second half and more towards the end of the 5-day power reserve the movement runs incredibly fast - way too fast. This happened just today when I picked up the watch after not having worn it for a few days and the watch was two/three minutes ahead of the actual time. It's definitely not a good look that IWC is using its customers yet again as beta testers for new movements. The exact same happened with the 5000 series movement some ~20 years ago - only one mainspring barrel with huge power reserve and then running super fast towards the second half of the power reserve. IWC has since fixed that by adding a second mainspring barrel but it certainly left a bad taste at the time. Sad to see the same thing repeat again with this movement now. Please don't view this post as unfriendly criticism or trying to put down IWC as a company. I am into my fifth IWC watch now and I am looking to add the new Portugieser 40 with the salmon dial for which I already put an order in with my authorized retailer.
5 day PR is not too shabby. Beats the PRX Powermatic 80 by 50%. Glad that Genta managed to get some inspiration from the limited edition MIDO Great Wall COSC. Won't be selling mine now.
@barchenko if you're going to have a nicely decorated movement then you want to see it, especially for this ridiculously high price. It's not rocket science.
I think there's quite a bit more work in the alternating brushed and polished features of the case (even on the crown guards) and bevels on bracelet edge and center link edge than people are giving it credit for. It slows down the build. Even if 99% CNC it requires more human labor. Price is less than Chopard or GP.
Старото е по-рафинирано, интелигентно и елегантно, вклщчително размера и шрифта върху циферблата, същевременно старата версия изглежда по-сурово иоиндустриално от новата версия, така че - вдигнат палец за оригинала - 👍
No micro adjustment at this price point really says it all: finding the perfect fit will be very difficult at best (!!!) I think its absolutely incredible how so few media mention this in their hands on review as a pain point (which is why for honest reviews I encourage readers to tap into sources that are not benefitting from brand advertising on their channels - its an (un)intentional conflict of interest. Anyone can spend their money for what they love ofcourse, but lets be honest - at 13k Eur you have some serious heavy hitter alternatives (not to mention resale value if you want to flip in the future). Just my two cents
When you suggest that "IWC finally got it right" your basically saying that before this release the Ingenieur was a piece of crap and why consider it. If I was IWC, I would hold your feet to fire while I litigate in civil court. Respect the company and brand. BTW, no one at T&T is a journalist, tabloid sure, but not journalist. 😉
I'm sorry but at that price point most watch enthusiasts are going to look elsewhere. If you're spending good money on a watch you're not going to want to feel like you got a poor man's Nautilus or Royal Oak. Pretty delusional release from IWC which is a shame because it is a nice watch overall.
My God - they're beautiful! I have been asking for exactly this for years!
Best review of the IWC Ingenieur. Congrats 🍾!

Another piece of information that I just learned and confirmed…
The Aqua dial has polished center links, all others are brushed.
Beautiful. Bu ridiculous price, no exhibition back, no micro adjustment and that's before you get to the la la land price of the titanium version!

A geek watch reincarnated for the modern times with a touch of classiness
