      Why didn't you use the spray paint gun for the walls as well? Why only the ceilings

    • @AlyssaRodriguez
      @AlyssaRodriguez  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The drylok paint is superrr thick, it would not work in a spray gun and if you thin it out it won’t work properly on the walls

    Amazing! We are in the process of fixing up our basement & making it liveable/useable instead of an unsightly storage area. Love what you did with the ceiling. I may have to consider that idea.

    Not to sound like a know it all, but I was about to make the same mistake, painting my cinder block basement walls. Apparently painting cinder block will cause a damming effect in the wall which will stop the natural exhaust of water into the home. The water that naturally plows into the porous block from the exterior side of the house enter in and fill up the voids in the block causing the water to hold and move further upward... everyone knows water flows down hill so eventually water will find a way into your home. Painting can cause mould, pealing paint, water buildup and leaks, breaking down of the mortar joints.
    It looks great, but you may run into issues. I decided on PVC wall panels instead.

    • @AlyssaRodriguez
      @AlyssaRodriguez  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries, I would recommend everyone ask for professional for advice before doing anything major renovation. I did & was pointed to the correct materials to use if I decided to do it. No issues yet but we’re only on year 2, I’ll keep everyone posted. 😊

      @@AlyssaRodriguez I've always been told the same thing as the person stated above by basement and foundation experts. It looks really nice and I like how yours turned out. It is a short term solution but at least you can enjoy the space for a few years as is.

      We used dry lok on our 30 yr old block walls with seasonal seeping at the base. One-2 coats maybe three on the worst areas. After 10plus years it was fine. Make sure exterior grade slopes away from foundation. From Baltimore.
