    The 1934 plot should be taught in US History school books.
    As should this quote: "I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare to challenge our government to a trial by strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." - Thomas Jefferson.

      Every time the word “socialism” is used in political context,the weak-of-mind automatically equate it to Soviet style,full-on Communism instead of the progress of the working class. People,as a whole,become set in their old-fashioned ways and fear any sort of change,thereby denying future generations of progress and opportunity. Many,derogatorily,referred to FDR as a Communist but,the social programs enacted by his administration helped the U.S. navigate through the depression until we entered into the very profitable World War II.

    If u read about the history of Bengal in the Indian subcontinent for the last 1000 years, a pattern repeats itself over and over again... The rich & powerful w/ armies at their command have always been either plotting or marching to gain control of the Bengal region for its wealth of either precious metals, or food supply available. As a result, the kingships that ruled the region came from every direction that could gain the upper hand. Conquerors of the region came from Turkey, Persia, South India, North India, West India... Britain, France... India and Pakistan split custody of Bengal after the British empire partitioned India in 1947. Pakistan was granted East Pakistan, while India acquired West Bengal... In 1971, the region declared independence from Pakistan in a brutal liberation war... and then the country became Bangladesh, and went thru decades of being passed between heads of state...
    Today, despite the media describing Bangladesh as a "third world" country, the bidding war for control of the country's business interests, access to the Bay of Bengal, and products being manufactured from textiles to food... is an ongoing competition between China, Russia, India, USA and Arab nations, each trying to gain the upper hand for trade profits.
    The USA has to understand that any region that has economic value and profitability is ground zero for forces plotting to gain control of the wealth & resources generated... And they never stop.

      You could not be more correct!! This country was founded by The Virginia Company of London and their subsidiary, the Plymouth Company of London. A bunch of rich, second-sons and merchants who were never going to be able to inherit their future from their fathers. So, they started a new country, where they COULD control everything and everyone. They were no better than the oligarchs they ran from. They just moved the oligarchy to a new land where they sat at the top of the ladder instead of the second rung. And from DAY ONE, that is how this country has been run by wealthy corporations. Nice to see someone else who understands and recognizes that truth. There are many things to celebrate about capitalism, but it is not perfect, and the faults it does contain are so inherently unfair that it is, at best, a very flawed system. Smedley D. Butler, War is a Racket ~ “I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.”

      @@gabrielmerino7522 The Oil Companies are most certainly trying to hurt Biden and the Democrats by jacking up prices at the Pump ...their lobby groups came out early and said out loud they would do anything necessary to make Biden do what they want (Open More lands to Drilling and give them even larger Tax Breaks ).... so if anyone thinks that the very same industry that has poured out many millions per year to lie about the effects of climate change wouldn't play nasty with the democrats by inflating prices which equates to voter anger you're a very stupid out-of-touch person ....
      So yes... most of this so-called 'inflation' is being driven by price gouging , typical corporate greed and a very deliberate move by hundreds of CEOS who supported Trump to hurt the democrats by raising prices so high the citizens think they better get another republican in the white house to fix this problem ...
      The key to this whole thing is to remember we had the very same effects on our economy from covid and supply chain issues driven by lack of workers back when Trump was President .. and remember that the Red States were acting pretty much the way they are now . Going out to events ,Bars Restaurants etc. ....but we did'nt see these jacked up crazy prices back then .... so the question is why ..when the oil industry who has spread sheets detailing gas usage for every area of the U.S. going back to the early 50's are not opening their refineries to supply enough fuel now that they see Americans are driving again ... so since they know down to the mile how much they need to supply and are not doing that this obviously tells you this is a very deliberate political move .

Butler's actions. Furthermore, the state of the world comes down to a single, poor recruiting move by McGuire. If they had asked ANY other general after World War 1, (troops were not cared for, the economy was in shambles, etc.) the state of the world might look a bit different.

Big business rules this country and always has, as it does every capitalist country and they certainly are not going to elevate an example of things going too far as a shining example of the failures of this system or as proof that they'd rather have a fascist dictatorship than pay higher taxes. Thanks, Joy Reid and Team. The 1933-4 Wall-Street Coup’s parallels to the present are even more dire than most are aware of. Aside from cursory, dismissive mentions in older history books, my knowledge, stemming from schools and libraries, is due to the fact that our Dad’s predecessor in NH was an old Navy Vet, a blue-water brat of the 1910s, who often told me of his childhood and youth in the Canal Zone, during his long, active retirement. I also remember SunOCo, and Standard Oil (now EXXON), and J. P. Morgan, and the Smiths (Sinclair), and Chase, and the Singer-Clarks. We mustn’t forget O. Henry’s ‘CABBAGES AND KINGS’ (He coined the term ‘Banana Republic’!) - and the “Bonus Army Revolt” that MacArthur had put down, shortly before.
    The difference to now is that our present Gigabuck crooks like the Kochs /Mercers worked from INSIDE the Traitorous Trumpie ‘Administration’! Sessions. Mnuchin. Ross. Prince-Cruella-deVos. Chao-McConnell. Azar, Nielsen. Carson, McMahon, Perdue, DeJoy, etc.. And Trumpie’s Brownshirt Bunch proper, now illegally occupying his “Winter Palace” at Mar-à-Lago.
    However: nobody but people like me really griped, when Trumpie blatantly, “alternatively” violated our Anti-Nepotism Statute, the Emoluments Clause, Due Process, Undue Search and Seizure, RICO, from the very first days of his “Presidency” onwards! And the old Nazi’s STILL incessantly lyin’ his bloated, spray-painted-orange butt off!
    This time, we can’t assume that our America has survived. Not until Scalia’s ‘Citizens United’ is overturned, Trumpie / McConnell’s “appointees” have been purged from our highest court, and until after our true Rule of Law has finally put Trumpie & Co. firmly behind bars, where they all belong!
    And when we have made damm-sure that those intolerable Four Trumpie Years NEVER disappear from our America’s history school-books!

    I have been calling the entire Trump Administration the "Business Plot 2.0" in various comment forums since around year 2, and actually FIRST uttered the words way back when rich donors tried to draft Mattis as a potential CANDIDATE for president in 2016.
    Mostly because of the whole "marine general funded by plutocrats" thing. To be honest I was far less aware pre-Trump and had never even HEARD of Mattis before that.

    • @tigertiger1699
      @tigertiger1699 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting.., as a American Allie as such.., I am now wondering if I allowed myself to buy into Mattis being the man of the hr.. the keel to hold the US, NATO , us other US allies … together, that he would hold trump from flippant war.. etc
      But Mattis has never spoken up, defended the US constitution… as he made out he was all over..
      Too easy for a Marine General to sell creds

    • @gregjuillerat5230
      @gregjuillerat5230 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tigertiger1699 he didn't put a spectacular stop to the whole thing before it took hold as Butler did, but he DID push back and interfere internally it seems, and he did denounce Trump, his poor character/temperament and his deliberate division post-resignation. I don't think it appears fair to say Mattis was "in on it." I just immediately saw the parallel in his original candidacy.
      Butler wasn't the villain in the original Business Plot, he was the hero... and Mattis seems to have tried to play something approaching a similar role. I did wonder at the time in 2016, though, if the business elites of TODAY had followed the same model but convinced themselves they'd done their homework and picked a man they knew would go along with it. It would appear I was wrong, and I'm glad to say the least!
      General Milley seems to have taken more direct measures at a much more critical juncture when it was far more certain something VERY WRONG was happening.

I'm 100% sure that Oliver Stone was adding a non-historical detail to the story, just to shoe-horn the name 'Smedley Butler' into his film about a fascist overthrow of an American Presidential administration.

    The difference between various left wing Socialism and right wing Fascism.... Socialism believes in helping the people, Fascism believes in helping the businesses. Both are socialist forms of government, socialist are for society and fascist are for the state. Mussolini and Hitler both nationalized the means of production, that is a socialist idea ( that the means of production are owned by the people... In many democratic cases that means the government, but in fascism it means the state, not the people). They also gave business that were left money and slaves to help them thrive. Corporate Welfare... just like trump and the republicans have done through his period in office. Republicans like to keep the wages down so that people are controlled instead of having any freedom to change jobs, or increase their lives.
    They use socialism as a dirty word and it IS TO THEM... it means helping your fellow man, it means making sure society is smooth and taken care of... these are BAD concepts to the right wing... they believe in control and greed.

    • @furiousapplesack
      @furiousapplesack 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry but all that is wildly incorrect. I can tell that you mean well, but just... no. Fascism is a far-right ideology opposed to all forms of the left and that believes democracy is obsolete and aims to achieve a totalitarian one-party state, combining nationalism with racism and bigotry against the poor, disabled, lgbt and religious minorities considered the "out-groups." It's usually highly militarized with expanded, near total authority given to law enforcement. It calls for a return to greatness, a conservative and mythologized version of the nation. Fascism is not a system of governance nor an economic system. It's a STYLE of governance delineated by 14 characteristics (or red flags, if you will).
      Socialism is an economic system. You were halfway there. Yes, means of production and distribution owned and operated by the worker, but this can be done through the state or through the workplace, like a union except the union itself operates the business which means, essentially, democracy in the workplace. Don't like your boss? Elect a new one from the ranks or run yourself, etc. Socialism is NOT a system of governance, but ideally the democracy within businesses trickles up to make the government more democratic.
      Nationalizing a business isn't inherently a socialist idea, or a communist or fascist idea, and fascism does not believe inherently in helping the businesses either. It does TEND to benefit privately owned businesses and CEO's because they're protected from their workers pushing back against them, and fascists usually seek out their help because they fear their workforce (as they should) and want their money and support. If they didn't need that help or support, they wouldn't care about it. At some point people started misinterpreting fascism to mean "when business and state work together" which is pretty idiotic in my opinion because that basically describes every 1st world nation.
